An ore of stone obtained from quarry lose its about 60% such as the muck and the stone-dust during the process of making the architectural block, the crushed aggregate and so on. A part of the muck is only reutilized for the crushed aggregate as road pavement materials, while the most of the muck in the shape of powder is mixed with water and then it is deposited in a sludge tank. The muck in the shape of powder is called the stone-dust. If the stone-dust is discharged and sprayed, an ecosystem will have terrible damage because the seepage of surface water, the flow of ground water and the movement of air are not occurred smoothly by packing the void of soils. As the Waste Management Law (2003) in Korea, the stone-dust is sorted out the industrial waste and the most of that is dumped in ground. Therefore, the establishments of an efficient recycling plan are necessary through the improvement of engineering properties of the stone-dust. To investigate the possibility of recycle and improvement for the stone-dust, the stone-dust and natural soils are sampled from six quarries in Korea. The various soil tests are performed by use of the mixed soils with the stone-dust content ratio. As the result of various soil tests, the recycle possibility of the stone-dust is analyzed as subbase layer materials of the roads.
The purpose of this study is to provide preliminary data on chloride diffusion of lightweight aggregate concrete containing crushed stone-powder. Accordingly, the study performed experiments using concrete aggregates of Crushed Aggregate (CG), Single-sized Lightweight Aggregate (SLG), Continuous Graded Lightweight Aggregate (CLG), and using water-binder ratio of 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, and using binder of FA and BFS. The chloride diffusion coefficient is calculated according to the NT BUILD 492. Diffusion coefficient of SLG and CLG were higher than that of CG concrete, but the difference was not significant. Also, chloride diffusion coefficient data indicated that it was highly affected by water-binder ratio, and it decreased with the decrease in waterbinder ratio. The admixture substitution of FA15% was effective in decreasing the diffusion coefficient only with water-binder ratio of 0.4 while admixture substitution of FA10+BFS20% was effective with all levels of water-binder ratio. The result of study shows lightweight aggregate concrete containing crushed stone-powder has slightly higher chloride diffusion coefficient than CG concrete, but the difference is not significant such that it can be overcome by adjusting water-binder ratio and admixture substitution. In addition, the data indicate the chloride diffusion coefficient of lightweight aggregate concrete can be estimated from the strength of lightweight aggregate.
Recently, crushed fine aggregates are being widely used due to the shortage of natural sand. In Korea, the amount of fine particles under 0.08 mm contained in crushed fine aggregates is restricted to be less than 7%, which is similar to the regulations of ASTM but is still very strict compared to the regulations of the other nations. In addition, the crushed aggregates already have in them about 20% of fine particles under 0.08 mm which occurs while they are crushed. The fine particles are not easy to wash out, and also to maximize the use of resources it is deemed necessary to review the possibility of enhancing the limit of the amount of fine particles. Therefore, this study conducted experiments to analyze the characteristics of fine particles under 0.08mm and their influence on the properties of concrete. Experiments using silt and cohesive soil were also done for comparison. In the experiments on fine particles, the methylene blue value was more in the soil dust contained in silt and cohesive soil than in the stone powder contained in crushed fine aggregates. Also, the methylene blue value had a close correlation with packing density and liquid & plastic limit. In the experiments done with concrete, the quantity of high range water reducing agent demanded to obtain the same slump increased as the fine particle substitution rate heightened. However, in the experiment which used stone powder testing the compressive strength and tensile strength of concrete in the same water-cement ratio, there was little change in strength with less than 20% addition of fine particles among the fine aggregates, and no meaningful difference in the amount of drying shrinkage of concrete.

This study was intended to evaluate the properties of concrete incorporating stone powders which are created during crushing natural stones to produce crushed aggregates. For concretes with 0~30 wt.% partial replacement fine aggregates with stone powders, experiments of slump, air content, strength and drying shrinkage were carried out. The experiments found that the increase of the amount of stone powders sharply decreased slump and air content. Partially using stone powders instead of fine aggregates was found to increase both compressive and tensile strength slightly. Substituting higher amount of stone powders presented higher drying shrinkage. When HRWRA was added into the concrete with stone powders in order to obtain workability similar to that of plain concrete without stone powders for the same water-cement ratio and unit weight of cement, air content increased with the amount of HRWRA but strength and drying shrinkage were hardly affected by adding HRWRA.
The extensive utilization of concrete has given rise to environmental concerns, specifically concerning the depletion of river sand. To address this issue, waste deposits can provide manufactured-sand (MS) as a substitute for river sand. The objective of this study is to explore the application of machine learning techniques to facilitate the production of manufactured-sand concrete (MSC) containing stone nano-powder through estimating the splitting tensile strength (STS) containing compressive strength of cement (CSC), tensile strength of cement (TSC), curing age (CA), maximum size of the crushed stone (Dmax), stone nano-powder content (SNC), fineness modulus of sand (FMS), water to cement ratio (W/C), sand ratio (SR), and slump (S). To achieve this goal, a total of 310 data points, encompassing nine influential factors affecting the mechanical properties of MSC, are collected through laboratory tests. Subsequently, the gathered dataset is divided into two subsets, one for training and the other for testing; comprising 90% (280 samples) and 10% (30 samples) of the total data, respectively. By employing the generated dataset, novel models were developed for evaluating the STS of MSC in relation to the nine input features. The analysis results revealed significant correlations between the CSC and the curing age CA with STS. Moreover, when delving into sensitivity analysis using an empirical model, it becomes apparent that parameters such as the FMS and the W/C exert minimal influence on the STS. We employed various loss functions to gauge the effectiveness and precision of our methodologies. Impressively, the outcomes of our devised models exhibited commendable accuracy and reliability, with all models displaying an R-squared value surpassing 0.75 and loss function values approaching insignificance. To further refine the estimation of STS for engineering endeavors, we also developed a user-friendly graphical interface for our machine learning models. These proposed models present a practical alternative to laborious, expensive, and complex laboratory techniques, thereby simplifying the production of mortar specimens.

The aggregate, which does not satisfy the standard of KS F 2573, was selected for this investigation. The 28day compressive strength of recycled aggregate concrete without pozzolan material was 21.7MPa, which was less than the strength of concrete made with crushed stone. However, the compressive strength at 28 days was improved by mixing early rapid hardening cement to the cement at the weight ratio of 2.5%. Furthermore, the compressive strength at 91 days and 180 days increased significantly by adding fly ash, slag powder, and diatom powder. The tensile strength of recycled aggregate concrete with pozzolan material also increased about 40% compared to the general concrete. Futhermore, the shrinkage and creep of recycled aggregate concrete with fly ash and slag powder was a little decreased that of recycled aggregate concrete with fly ash and diatom powder. Relationship between compressive strength and creep coefficient was shown to the linear relation like as ${\sigma}_c=-30CF+404$.
It was investigated whether the scrap tire can be recycled as a construction material for controlling the frost heave of the ground. Some frost heave tests and a frost penetration depth test in the laboratory were performed on the weathered granite soil mitred with variable amount of scrap tire powder under the atmospheric temperature at -$17^{\circ}$ to find the basic effects of the scrap tire on the control of frost. The frost heave control layer of the crushed stone mixed with scrap tire chips directly below thin subbass in the bituminous pavement was found to be effective for practical use. And the equation for the required thickness of this frost heave control layer with freezing index was suggested.

Proper calculation of splitting tensile strength (STS) of concrete has been a crucial task, due to the wide use of concrete in the construction sector. Following many recent studies that have proposed various predictive models for this aim, this study suggests and tests the functionality of three hybrid models in predicting the STS from the characteristics of the mixture components including cement compressive strength, cement tensile strength, curing age, the maximum size of the crushed stone, stone powder content, sand fine modulus, water to binder ratio, and the ratio of sand. A multi-layer perceptron (MLP) neural network incorporates invasive weed optimization (IWO), cuttlefish optimization algorithm (CFOA), and electrostatic discharge algorithm (ESDA) which are among the newest optimization techniques. A dataset from the earlier literature is used for exploring and extrapolating the STS behavior. The results acquired from several accuracy criteria demonstrated a nice learning capability for all three hybrid models viz. IWO-MLP, CFOA-MLP, and ESDA-MLP. Also in the prediction phase, the prediction products were in a promising agreement (above 88%) with experimental results. However, a comparative look revealed the ESDA-MLP as the most accurate predictor. Considering mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) index, the error of ESDA-MLP was 9.05%, while the corresponding value for IWO-MLP and CFOA-MLP was 9.17 and 13.97%, respectively. Since the combination of MLP and ESDA can be an effective tool for optimizing the concrete mixture toward a desirable STS, the last part of this study is dedicated to extracting a predictive formula from this model.
This paper aims to present the evaluation of engineering characteristics and reusing possibility of waste powders produced in dolomite and limestone nonmetal mining by physical and mechanical experiments on compaction, uniaxial compressive strength, permeability, chemical composition, and so on. Granite soil, 2 types of limestone waste powder, and 1 type of dolomite waste powder were used for main materials, and cement and bentonite were used for admixed materials in this experiments. The findings based on the experimental results are the severe difference of chemical composition of the dolomite & limestone waste powder and the crushed rock waste powder, and the outstanding of engineering characteristics of the dolomite waste powder with high content of MgO compared with the limestone waste powder. The engineering properties on compaction, uniaxial compressive strength, and permeability are enhanced with increase of admixed ratio of waste powder on granite soil. From the experimental results, it can be suggested that the dolomite waste powder admixed with in-situ granite soil is useful as geo-materials with considering of distribution costs.

경제적일 것으로 판단된다.er 90 % of good relative dynamic modulus of elasticity due to fineness of formation caused by the increase of the unit powder content and the improvement of flowability, without regard to the replacement of crushed stone fines.
