Curved steel-concrete composite box girder has been widely adopted in urban overpasses and ramp bridges. In order to investigate its mechanical behavior under complicated and combined bending, shear and torsion load, two large-curvature composite box girders with interior angles of 25° and 45° were tested under static hogging moment. Based on the strain and deflection measurement on critical cross-sections during the static loading test, the failure mode, cracking behavior, load-displacement relationship, and strain distribution in the steel plate and rebar were investigated in detail. The test result showed the large-curvature composite box girders exhibited notable shear lag in the concrete slab and steel girder. Also, the constraint torsion and distortion effect caused the stress measured at the inner side of the composite beam to be notably higher than that of the outer side. The strain distribution in the steel web was approximately linear; therefore, the assumption that the plane section remains plane was approximately validated based on strain measurement at steel web. Furthermore, the full-process non-linear elaborate finite element (FE) models of the two specimens were developed based on commercial FE software MSC.MARC. The modeling scheme and constitutive model were illustrated in detail. Based on the comparison between the FE model and test results, the FE model effectively simulated the failure mode, the load-displacement curve, and the strain development of longitudinal rebar and steel girder with sufficient accuracy. The comparison between the FE model and the test result validated the accuracy of the developed FE model.
This study is the case of groundwater development based on the geometrical fracture model of target area established only through geological fracture mapping technique. A fracture mapping of $9km^2$, eastern Munsan, has been conducted to determine geological and hydrological factors for new water well placement in the Gyeonggi gneiss complex. Geophysical exploration was not applicable because of small restricted area and dense underground utilities at the site. Form line mapping on the basis of foliation orientation and rock type revealed a synform of NS fold axis bearing to the south. An EW geological cross-section passed through the site area shows a F2 synform as a double-wall ice cream spoon shape. Three regional faults of $N20^{\circ}E,\;N30^{\circ}W$, and NS have been dragged into the site to help understand extensional fault paths. The $N20^{\circ}E$ fault with dextral sense is geometrically interpreted as a western fault of two flexural conjugate type-P shear faults in the F2 synformal fold. The NE cross-section reveals that a possible groundwater belt in the western limb of super-posed fold area is formed as a trigonal prism within 100 m depth of the intersectional space between the $N20^{\circ}E$ fault plane and the weakly sheared plane of transposed foliation. Another possible fault for water resource strikes $N40^{\circ}E$. Recommended sites for new water well placement are along the $N20^{\circ}E\;and\;N40^{\circ}E$ faults. As a result of fracture mapping, 145 ton/day of water can be produced at one well along the $N20^{\circ}E$ fault line. Exploration of groundwater in the area is succeeded only using with geological fracture mapping and interpretation of geological cross-section, without any geophysical survey. Intersection of fault generated with the F2 synformal fold and foliation supply space of groundwater reserver.

Since soil-structure interactions are one of the most important subjects in the structural/foundation engineering, much study concerning the soil-structure interactions had been carried out. One of typical structures related to the soil-structure interactions is the strip foundation which is basically defined as the beam or strip rested on or supported by the soils. At the present time, lack of studies on dynamic problems related to the strip foundations is still found in the literature. From these viewpoint, this paper aims to theoretically investigate dynamics of the elliptic strip foundations and also to present the practical engineering data for the design purpose. Differential equations governing the free, out-of-plane vibrations of such sap foundations we derived, in which effects of the rotatory and torsional inertias and also shear deformation are included although the warping of the cross-section is excluded. Governing differential equations subjected to the boundary conditions of free-free end constraints are numerically solved for obtaining the natural frequencies and mode shapes by using the numerical integration technique and the numerical method of non-linear equation.

In this paper we proposed a new structure of spatial combining power amplifier working in 60GHz global unlicensed band(56-64GHz) for the backhaul in the 5 generation mobile systems. The proposed structure is suitable to realize an antipodal finline transition in millimeter wave band, in which the size of cross section of waveguide becomes about a few mm ${\times}$ a few mm, due to its compact structure of the transition and shows effective heat sinking characteristics because its ground plane can contact to the body metal. However, the HFSS simulation results showed the return loss improvement by 1.27dB and the same insertion loss of -1.65dB compared with the conventional structure, which said nevertheless the advantages, there was no deterioration in the performance.
This paper suggests a relative orbit control strategy for the CubeSat Astronomy by NASA and Yonsei using Virtual Telescope Alignment eXperiment (CANYVAL-X) mission whose main goal is to demonstrate an essential technique, which is an arrangement among two satellites and a specific celestial object, referred to as inertial alignment, for a next-generation virtual space telescope. The inertial alignment system is a relative orbit control system and has requirements for the relative state. Through the proposed orbit control strategy, consisting of separation, proximity keeping, and reconfiguration, the requirements will be satisfied. The separation direction of the two CubeSats with respect to the orbital plane is decided to provide advantageous initial condition to the orbit controller. Proximity keeping is accomplished by differential atmospheric drag control (DADC), which generates acceleration by changing the spacecraft's effective cross section via attitude control rather than consuming propellant. Reconfiguration is performed to meet the requirements after proximity keeping. Numerical simulations show that the requirements can be satisfied by the relative orbit control strategy. Furthermore, through numerical simulations, it is demonstrated that the inertial alignment can be achieved. A beacon signal had been received for several months after the launch; however, we have lost the signal at present.

A technique of mixing enhancement by using an elliptic jet screech reflector has been examined experimentally in an underexpanded sonic round jet where jet screech tone is generated. Since jet screech is known to enhance jet spreading, a reflector was designed to focus jet screech waves near the nozzle lip at an underexpanded jet. The reflector has an elliptic cross section of which one focus is located near the nozzle lip and the other in the jet screech source region in a plane including the jet axis. In the jet with the elliptic reflector, the mass flow rate showed a significant increase in the jet entrainment when compared to that for the small disk reflector. This was attributed to the increased screech amplitude near the nozzle lip as well as the mode change of the jet. The jet mixing was also increased by the amplified jet screech at two other underexpanded jets, but the jet oscillation mode did not change.

Mean velocities and turbulent characteristics in the three-dimensional flow fields of a gun-type gas burner were measured by using triple hot-wire probe (T-probe) in order to compare them with the results already presented by X-type hot-wire probe (X-probe). Vectors obtained by the measurement of two kinds of probes in the horizontal plane and in the cross section respectively show more or less difference in magnitude each other, but comparatively similar shape in overall distribution. Axial mean velocity component along the centerline shows that the value by T-probe is about ten times smaller than that by X-probe above the range of X/R=3. Also, the axial component of turbulent intensity along the centerline appears the biggest difference between the two probes. Moreover, axial mean velocity component, axial turbulent intensity component and rotational along the Y-directional distance show a big difference between slits and swirl vanes. On the whole, the values by T-probe appear smaller than those by X-probe.

In this paper, geometrically and materially non-linear finite element analyses were performed to study the crease behavior of thin membranes. The cross-section of the membrane was modeled with 2-dimensional plane strain elements. To simulate the creasing process, the membrane mesh was folded, compressed to prescribed crease gauge by activating two rigid contact surfaces, and then released to give the crease topology. Various crease gauges were considered to investigate the effect of crease intensity on the initial deployment angle. The crease geometry was also obtained by experiments and the results were compared.
Unidirectional fiber-metal matrix composites have superior mechanical properties along the longitudinal direction. However, the applicability of continuous fiber reinforced MMCs is somewhat limited due to their relatively poor transverse properties. Therefore, the transverse properties of MMCs are significantly influenced by the properties of the fiber/matrix interface. In this study, the interfacial stress states of transversely loaded unidirectional fiber reinforced metal matrix composites investigated by using elastic-plastic finite element analysis. Different fiber volume fractions $(5-60\%)$ were studied numerically. The interface was treated as thin layer (with different properties) with a finite thickness between the fiber and the matrix. The fiber is modeled as transversely isotropic linear-elastic, and the matrix as isotropic elastic-plastic material. The analyses were based on a two-dimensional generalized plane strain model of a cross-section of an unidirectional composite by the ANSYS finite element analysis code.
