Filter-Free Wavelength Conversion Using Mach-Zehnder Interferometer with Integrated Multimode Interference Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers

  • We propose a filter-free wavelength conversion using a Mach-Zehnder interferometer with monolithically integrated $2{\times}2$ multimode interference semiconductor optical amplifiers (MMI-SOAs). The device has been optimized by considering a non-homogeneous carrier distribution due to the self-imaging properties of the MMI-SOA. Static measurements show an extinction ratio of up to 18 dB and an input signal rejection ratio of up to 20 dB.

  • 20 GHz and 40 GHz micro/millimeter-wave photonic pulse trains have been generated from a fiber ring laser with a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) by injecting 2 GHz gain-switched Fabry-Perot laser diode (GS-FPLD) output. To achieve efficient cross-gain modulation in the SOA at 20 GHz and 40 GHz, individual lasing modes of the 2 GHz GS-FPLD output separated to 25 and 50 picoseconds respectively by passing dispersion compensating fibers.

  • A spatio-temporal vector channel model is introduced for the position location (PL) estimation problem for CDMA cellular system environment. Two common ways for the PL make use of the AOA (Angle Of Arrival) and TDOA (Time Difference Of Arrival) from a subscriber to the multiple sensors (base stations). In this paper, we applied the derived vector channel to simulate the multipath channel for the angle of the signal arrival in CDMA systems. Cross-correlation method is a good candidate among other direction finding algorithms available in literature, especially in wideband modulation as in the CDMA system. The PL estimation errors are evaluated for different channels, which are obtained as a parameter of scattering radius of the suggested model. We noted that the number of sensors (base-stations) are related to the PL errors in favor of the available data.

차량용 펄스 레이더에서 간섭영향에 대한 검출기의 성능 분석 (Performance Analysis of Detector in Automobile Pulse Radar with Considering Interference)

  • In this paper, we consider interferences from other automobile pulse radars using same frequency spectrum. In order to eliminate the interference, we propose the PN code modulation method. This method uses the cross-correlation between PN codes with different seed. The ROC performance is used for comparing the proposed detector to conventional method. And the proposed detector can decide the present or absent of targets and measure the range of the targets by using memory buffer of range gate. Especially, we use false alarm probability for all range gates. That is the false alarm if in any one range gate the false alarm occurs. From the simulation result, we can see that the proposed detector with using PN code is not influenced by interferences.

  • With the aim to maximize the use of a given voltage source in the field of railway and electric vehicles, this study applies a technique for controlling the overmodulation region between the linear and the six-step regions. High linearity overmodulation techniques that do not use look-up table (LUT) to digital signal processor (DSP) using carrier based pulse width modulation (PWM) are proposed. Such technique requires the phase of the voltage vector at the point where the circular trajectory of the voltage command vector and hexagonal cross each other. Therefore, a method is proposed to obtain a phase of a voltage vector that is derived through an equation and applied to a carrier-based PWM. Validity of the proposed implementation method is confirmed through simulation and experiment.

  • A nerve block is an effective tool for diagnostic and therapeutic methods. If a diagnostic nerve block is successful for pain relief and the subsequent therapeutic nerve block is effective for only a limited duration, the next step that should be considered is a nerve ablation or modulation. The nerve ablation causes iatrogenic neural degeneration aiming only for sensory or sympathetic denervation without motor deficits. Nerve ablation produces the interruption of axonal continuity, degeneration of nerve fibers distal to the lesion (Wallerian degeneration), and the eventual death of axotomized neurons. The nerve ablation methods currently available for resection/removal of innervation are performed by either chemical or thermal ablation. Meanwhile, the nerve modulation method for interruption of innervation is performed using an electromagnetic field of pulsed radiofrequency. According to Sunderland's classification, it is first and foremost suggested that current neural ablations produce third degree peripheral nerve injury (PNI) to the myelin, axon, and endoneurium without any disruption of the fascicular arrangement, perineurium, and epineurium. The merit of Sunderland's third degree PNI is to produce a reversible injury. However, its shortcoming is the recurrence of pain and the necessity of repeated ablative procedures. The molecular mechanisms related to axonal regeneration after injury include cross-talk between axons and glial cells, neurotrophic factors, extracellular matrix molecules, and their receptors. It is essential to establish a safe, long-standing denervation method without any complications in future practices based on the mechanisms of nerve degeneration as well as following regeneration.

전도성 직물을 이용한 단일 리드 심전도 측정 및 실시간 심전도 유도 호흡 추출 방법에 관한 연구 (Real Time ECG Derived Respiratory Extraction from Heart Rate for Single Lead ECG Measurement using Conductive Textile Electrode)

  • We have designed the system that measure one channel ECG by two electrode and extract real-time EDR with more related resipiration and comportable to subject by using conductive textile. On the assumption that relation between RL electrode and potential measurement electrode is coupled with RC connected model, we designed RL drive output to feedback two electrode for reduction of common mode signal. The conductive textile which was used for two ECG electrode was offered more comfort during night sleep in bed than any other method using attachments. In the method of single-lead EDR, R wave point or QRS interval area could be used for EDR estimation in traditional method, it is, so to speak, the amplitude modulation(AM) method for EDR. Alternatively, R-R interval could be used for frequency modulation(FM) method based on Respiratory Sinus Arrhythmia(RSA). For evaluation of performance on AM EDR and FM EDR from 14 subject, ECG lead III was measured. Each EDR was compared with both temperature around nose(direct measurement of respiration) and respiration signal from thoracic belt(indirect measurement of respiration) on mean squared error(MSE), cross correlation(Xcorr), and Coherence. The upsampling interpolation technique of multirate signal processing is applied to interpolating data instead of cubic spline interpolation. As a result, we showed the real-time EDR extraction processing to be implemented at micro-controller.

SDR 기반의 LFM 레이다 설계 및 구현 (LFM Radar Implemented in SDR Architecture)

  • 본 논문에서는 두 표적 간의 거리차를 정밀하게 계측할 수 있는 S-band 고 분해능 레이다 개발을 위한 시스템 기본 설계 및 구현 결과를 제시한다. 3.5 GHz LFM(Linear Frequency Modulation) 레이다 기본 설계를 위하여 제안하는 시스템 요구조건은 거리 분해능 1 m, 최대 계측 거리 2 km이며 레이다 방정식을 통해 각 모듈의 사양을 결정하였다. 최종적으로 150 MHz 대역폭, 송신 출력 43 dBm 전력 증폭기, 이득 26 dBi 안테나, 잡음 지수 8 dB 이하, RCS $1m^2$일 때, 표적과 레이다의 최대거리 2 km 기준 SNR이 30 dB 이상이 나올 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 시뮬레이션 결과를 토대로 하드웨어 설계를 하였으며, SDR(Software Defined Radar) 장비를 이용한 LFM 레이다 설계 이론과 방법 그리고 야외 시험 결과를 보여주고 요구조건을 만족하는 레이다 시스템 설계가 가능함을 입증하였다.

근접한 이중대역 신호에 대한 디지털 전치왜곡 기법 (Digital Predistortion for Closely Spaced Dual-Band Signals)

  • 근접한 이중대역 신호에 대한 새로운 디지털 전치왜곡 기법을 제안한다. 본 논문에서 고려하는 시스템은 이중대역 신호를 한 개의 전력증폭기로 증폭하는 송신기이다. 이 경우 전력증폭기 출력신호는 두 대역 신호의 교차변조 및 상호변조에 의해 왜곡이 발생한다. 특히 두 대역이 가까울 때에는 각 대역에서 상호변조에 의해 발행한 스펙트럼이 서로 겹칠 수 있고 이는 전치왜곡 성능을 저하시킨다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서 제안하는 기법은 먼저 전력증폭기 특성을 추정하고 이렇게 추정한 전력증폭기 특성을 바탕으로 전치왜곡 계수를 추출한다. 이러한 두 단계를 통해 전치왜곡 계수를 구하면 근접한 이중대역 신호에 대해서도 서로 간섭 없이 전치왜곡이 동작할 수 있다. 제안하는 기법은 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통해 검증하는데, 모의실험 결과에 따르면 제안하는 기법이 기존의 이중대역 전치왜곡 방법보다 우수한 성능을 보인다.

SOQPSK-TG 신호의 교차상관 격자부호화 직교변조(XTCQM) 기법을 사용한 저복잡도 선형 수신기 구현 (Low Complexity Linear Receiver Implementation of SOQPSK-TG Signal Using the Cross-correlated Trellis-Coded Quadrature Modulation(XTCQM) Technique)

  • SOQPSK-TG는 주파수 효율과 전력 효율이 매우 우수한 항공기 텔레메트리용 변조신호이다. 본 논문에서는 부분응답 SOQPSK-TG 변조방식의 위상파형을 선형 근사하여 완전응답 이중 듀오바이너리 SOQPSK(SOQPSK-DD) 신호로 모델링하였다. 그리고 XTCQM 기법과 롤랑분해 기법을 사용하여 SOQPSK-DD 신호를 선형 펄스 파형을 갖는 OQPSK로 근사 모델링하였고 두 가지 기법의 결과가 동일함을 증명하였다. 또한 SOQPSK-DD 신호의 로랑분해 파형이 SOQPSK-TG 신호의 로랑분해 파형을 근사한 파형임을 확인하였고, SOQPSK-DD의 로랑분해 파형을 검출필터에 적용한 결정궤환 IQ-검출기가 기존보다 단순한 파형으로도 거의 동일한 성능을 발휘함을 보였다.
