Support Vector Machine Based Bearing Fault Diagnosis for Induction Motors Using Vibration Signals

  • In this paper, we propose a new method for detecting bearing faults using vibration signals. The proposed method is based on support vector machines (SVMs), which treat the harmonics of fault-related frequencies from vibration signals as fault indices. Using SVMs, the cross-validations are used for a training process, and a two-stage classification process is used for detecting bearing faults and their status. The proposed approach is applied to outer-race bearing fault detection in three-phase squirrel-cage induction motors. The experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively identify the bearing faults and their status, hence improving the accuracy of fault diagnosis.

  • Cylindrical type of self-controlled restrictor are designed for hydrostatic bearing of grinding wheel spindle. Typical hydrostatic journal bearing with the designed restrictor is analytically model. According to the model, the affect of oper-ation parameters, such as, initial cross distance, supply pressure, diameter of two supply holes, pre-load of spring, and clearance between spindle and housing, on bearing stiffness are analyzed. From the results of the analysis, the optimum conditions of operation parameters that maximize the bearing stiffness are estimated.

Maternal Serum Concentrations of Total Triiodothyronine, Tetraiodothyronine and Cortisol in Different Status of Pregnancy During Late Pregnancy in Ettawah-Cross Does

  • Fifteen Ettawah-cross does were used to study maternal serum concentrations of total triiodothyronine ($T_3$), teraiodothyronine ($T_4$) and cortisol in different status of pregnancy (nonpregnant, aborted, single and twin-bearing does) during late pregnancy. Analysis of the data indicated that here was no significant changes in total $T_3$, $T_4$, and cortisol concentrations with the advance of pregnancy. Concentrations of $T_3$, $T_4$, and cortisol decreased by 38.9, 34.9, and 32.6%, and 12.0, 15.7 and 27.6%, and 41.6, 44.0, and 43.7% in the aborted, single and, twin-bearing, respectively, as compared to those nonpregnant does. These was no significant difference in concentrations of $T_3$ and cortisol between aborted, single and twin-bearing does, and in those of $T_4$ between aborted and single-bearing does. However, $T_4$ concentrations in twin-bearing were lower by 17.7 and 14.1% than those in aborted and single-bearing does, respectively. The decreased concentrations of thyroid hormones in pregnant does suggested that fetus could have increased iodine uptake from maternal circulation causing a decrease in the availability of this nutrient for synthesis of maternal thyroid hormones. The decreased concentrations of cortisol could have been associated with the increased metabolism of the hormone to regulate nutrients influx into the placenta of pregnant does.

다중회귀분석 및 인공신경망을 이용한 자갈다짐말뚝 개량지반의 극한 지지력 예측 (Prediction of Ultimate Bearing Capacity of Soft Soils Reinforced by Gravel Compaction Pile Using Multiple Regression Analysis and Artificial Neural Network)

  • 자갈다짐말뚝(Gravel Compaction Pile) 공법은 연약지반 개량공법 중의 하나로 육상 및 해상에서 연약 지반을 개량하기 위해 많이 사용되어 왔다. 자갈다짐말뚝으로 보강된 지반의 극한 지지력은 자갈다짐말뚝 및 지반의 강도, 치환율, 시공조건 등에 영향을 받으며 이를 예측하기 위한 다양한 예측식이 제안되었다. 하지만 기존 예측식을 활용한 극한지지력 예측은 오차율 및 변동성이 매우 크며, 실제 설계에 활용하기에는 부적합한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 자갈다짐말뚝으로 보강된 지반의 극한 지지력을 예측하기 위하여 현장 재하시험결과를 활용한 다중회귀분석을 수행하였으며, 단일잔류 교차검증에 따른 예측오차평가를 통하여 가장 효율적인 입력변수를 선정하고 이에 대한 극한 지지력 예측식을 제안하였다. 또한 선정된 입력변수를 활용하여 인공신경망 적용에 따른 극한 지지력 예측오차를 평가하고 이를 기존 예측식에 따른 결과와 비교 분석하였다.

  • Nowadays development of electric and optical devices needs precision more and more. This study focuses on hydrostatic journal bearing of grinding wheel spindle. It presents theoretical analysis about cylinder type self-controlled restrictor to control flux of oil flowing into pockets around the hydrostatic journal bearing. As a result of this analysis, optimal properties to maximize bearing stiffness such as initial cross distance, supply pressure, diameter of two supply holes, pre-load of spring and clearance between spindle and housing can be obtained. Therefore, by using them it is possible to estimate bearing stiffness and the performance of grinding wheel spindle can be improved.

  • The stability of a rotor-bearing system supported by swirl-controlled hybrid journal bearing with pair-type angled injection orifices is investigated for improvement of the whirl frequency ratio by allowing effective control of the tangential flow inside the bearing clearance, i.e., by achieving more freedom in controlling strength and direction of the supply tangential flow inside the bearing clearance. It is suggested that the system instability can be improved through the change of bearing dynamic characteristic parameters with the swirl control. The orifice diameter d$_0$ and recess injection angle $\alpha$ along with combinations of swirl/anti-swirl supply pressures and directions (3.0-3.0MPa, 4.0-2.0MPa, 2.0-4.0MPa) are selected for design parameters for swirl-controlled effective factors dependent on journal speeds (3000, 9000, 15000, 21000 rpm). It has been found that the orifice diameter do shows strong effects on effective maneuverability of direct-stiffness and direct damping values, while recess injection angle $\alpha$ results in substantial magnitude and direction of cross-stiffness. Specifically, recess injection parameters which are functions of angle of orifice feeding flow and recess dimensions showed very feasible effect on the stability of swirl-controlled rotor-bearing system.

Research on axial bearing capacity of cold-formed thin-walled steel built-up column with 12-limb-section

  • A half open cross section built-up column, namely cold-formed thin-walled steel built-up column with 12-limbsection (CTSBC-12) is put forward. To deeply reveal the mechanical behaviors of CTSBC-12 under axial compression and put forward its calculation formula of axial bearing capacity, based on the previous axial compression experimental research, the finite element analysis (FEA) is conducted on 9 CTSBC-12 specimens, and then the variable parameter analysis is carried out. The results show the FEA is in good agreement with the experimental research, the ultimate bearing capacity error is within 10%. When the slenderness ratio is more than 96.54, the ultimate bearing capacity of CTSBC-12 decreases rapidly, and the failure mode changes from local buckling to global buckling. With the local buckling failure mode unchanged, the ultimate bearing capacity decreases gradually as the ratio of web height to thickness increases. Three methods are used for calculating the ultimate bearing capacity, the direct strength method of AISI S100-2007 gives result of ultimate axial load which is closest to the test and FEA results. But for simplicity and practicality, a simplified axial bearing capacity formula is proposed, which has better calculation accuracy with the slenderness ratio changing from 30 to 100.

  • High-speed spindle systems typically employ angular contact ball bearings, which can resist both axial and radial loading, and exhibit high precision and durability. We investigated the effects of the arrangement of the angular contact ball bearings on the dynamics of high-speed spindle systems. The spindle dynamics were studied with a number of spindle-bearing models, and the location of the bearings was varied, along with the rotational speed and the preload. A finite element spindle model and a bearing model were used, and simulated data showed that the bearing arrangement significantly affected the spindle dynamics. Furthermore, the main effects were due to the cross coupling terms between the transverse and rotational motions of the ball bearings. The coupling stiffness terms were found to influence the spindle dynamics, depending on the mode shapes. An extensive discussion is provided on the effects of the bearing arrangement on the dynamics of the spindle.

수치해석을 이용한 이중 강-콘크리트 합성말뚝 연직지지력 평가 (Estimation on End Vertical Bearing Capacity of Double Steel-Concrete Composite Pile Using Numerical Analysis)

  • 이중 강-콘크리트 합성말뚝의 설계를 위한 지지력 평가 방법이 정립되지 않아 기존 강관말뚝 설계 지지력식이 활용되고 있다. 그러나 이들 설계식 간 지지력 예측 결과가 상이할 뿐만 아니라 일반적으로 가장 보수적인 결과를 채택하게 된다. 이러한 말뚝 지지력 평가방법은 설계의 신뢰성 및 경제성을 낮추게 된다. 본 논문은 수직하중을 받는 이중 강관 내 콘크리트 채움된 신형식 합성단면(DSCT) 말뚝의 역학적 거동을 수치해석적으로 조사하고, 여러 DSCT 말뚝 조건변화에 따른 연직지지력을 분석하였다. DSCT 말뚝 및 인접지반에 대한 축대칭 유한요소모델을 생성하였고, 이를 활용해 근입깊이, 말뚝 선단 채움재 강성, 말뚝 선단 채움재 높이, 기반암층 종류 변화에 따른 영향을 분석하였다. 또한 해석결과를 말뚝 설계 실무에서 주로 사용하는 선단 지지력 평가식과 비교하여 합성말뚝에 대한 기존 강관말뚝 지지력 산정식의 활용 가능성을 검토하였다.
