PVA geotextile/HDPE geomembrane composites were made to examine the waste landfill related properties. Tensile properties, tear and bursting strengths, AOS(apparent opening size) and permittivity of PVA geotextiles were evaluated, respectively. Ultraviolet stability and chemical resistance to the leachate was evaluated also. Friction property and creep deformation were tested at various loading condition. From this, it was seen that PVA geotextile/HDPE geomembrane composites have more excellent properties than the typically used polypropylene and polyester geotextiles in waste landfill. Finally, creep deformation behaviours of PVA geotextile/HDPE geomembrane composites were more stable than polypropylene and polyester geotextiles through the reduction factor analysis.
With the goal of enhancing the creep resistance of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), we performed gamma irradiation and post-irradiation annealing at a low temperature, and investigated the crystalline structures and mechanical properties of the samples. Electron spin resonance spectra reveal that most of the residual radicals are stabilized by annealing at 100$^{\circ}C$ for 72 h under vacuum. Both the melting temperature and crystallinity increase after increasing the dose and by post-irradiation annealing. When irradiated with the same dose, the quenched sample having a higher amorphous fraction exhibits a lower swell ratio than does the slow-cooled sample. The measured tensile properties correlate well to the crystalline structure of the irradiated and annealed samples. For enhancing creep resistance, high crystallinity appears to be more critical than a high degree of crosslinking.

In this study, aluminum borate whisker reinforced Mg-3Al-2Ag-1Zn matrix composites were fabricated by the squeeze infiltration technique. The purpose is to develop materials for elevated temperature applications. Microstructure observation revealed successful fabrication of the metal matrix composites, namely no cast defects such as porosity and matrix/reinforcement interface delamination etc. High temperature hardness and creep rupture properties were improved significantly with addition of Ag to the Al borate whisker reinforced Mg alloy composite. $Mg_3Ag$ phase formed during aging heat treatment could improve creep properties of the Mg matrix composites.
In this study the compressive strength data were collected from readymix concrete plants, and the analysis result showed that when using AD test the concrete of 24MPa is suitable than that of 21MPa for normal distribution. The prediction formula for average compressive strength were proposed to $f_{cu}=f_{ck}+4(MPa)$. When comparing the proposed equations and existing relationship, the estimation variations of elastic modulus and creep modulus were not significant. The proposed equation confirmed that there was no effect to the influence function for modulus of elasticity and creep. Therefore, it was concluded that the proposed equation could replace the exiting interaction formula.
In order to develop materials with a low environmental load for restoring the destroyed forest, seven types of wood-concrete hybrid laminated materials were manufactured with four softwoods, three hardwoods and concrete, and the effect of wood density on bending creep property was investigated. The bending creep curves showed a shape to considerably increase at the upper right side, and the curves were found to show a linear behavior beyond about 30 min - 1 hour, as behaviors of solid woods and wood-based materials. The initial compliances of wood-concrete hybrid-laminated materials decreased with an increase in the wood density, and those values showed 0.9 - 1.2 times of the concrete one. The creep compliances of hybrid laminated materials showed very low values, which were 0.4 - 0.8 times of the concrete ones. The relative creep were very low with a range from 8.2% to 17.0% range, which were 0.3 - 0.7 times of the concrete ones. These results indicate that these materials can be applied for restoring the destroyed forest to reduce creep deformation of the conventional concrete materials by hybrid-laminating concrete and woods.

Mechanical and physical properties of a copper alloy for a liquid rocket engine(LRE) combustion chamber liner application were tested at various temperatures. All test specimens were heat treated with the condition they might experience during actual fabrication process of the LRE combustion chamber. Physical properties measured include thermal conductivity, specific heat and thermal expansion data. Uniaxial tension tests were preformed to get mechanical properties at several temperatures ranging from room temperature to 600$^{\circ}C$. The result demonstrated that yield stress and ultimate tensile stress of the copper alloy decreases considerably and strain hardening increases as the result of the heat treatment. Since the LRE combustion chamber operates at higher temperature over 400$^{\circ}C$, the copper alloy can exhibit time-dependent behavior. Strain rate, creep and stress relaxation tests were performed to check the time-dependent behavior of the copper alloy. Strain rate tests revealed that strain rate effect is negligible up to 400$^{\circ}C$ while stress-strain curve is changed at 500$^{\circ}C$ as the strain rate is changed. Creep tests were conducted at 250$^{\circ}C$ and 500$^{\circ}C$ and the secondary creep rate was found to be very small at both temperatures implying that creep effect is negligible for the combustion chamber liner because its operating time is quite short.

The material properties of crack growth models at an elevated temperature were derived from the results of numerous crack growth tests for Mod.9Cr-1Mo (ASME Grade 91) steel specimens under fatigue loading and creep loading at an elevated temperature. These crack growth models were needed for defect assessment under creep-fatigue loading. The mathematical crack growth rate models for fatigue crack growth (FCG) and creep crack growth (CCG) were determined based on the test results, and the models were compared with those of the French design code RCC-MRx to investigate the conservatism of the code. The French design code RCC-MRx provides an FCG model and a CCG model for Grade 91 steel in Section III Tome 6. It was shown that the FCG model of RCC-MRx is conservative, while the CCG model is non-conservative compared with the present test data. Thus, it was shown that further validation of the property was required. Mechanical strength tests and creep tests were also conducted, and the test results were compared with those of RCC-MRx.
The soil creep, primarily caused by earthquakes and torrential rainfall events, has widely occurred across the country. The Korea Forest Service attempted to quantify the soil creep susceptible areas using a discriminant value table to prevent or mitigate casualties and/or property damages in advance. With the advent of advanced computer technologies, machine learning-based classification models have been employed for managing mountainous disasters, such as landslides and debris flows. This study aims to quantify the soil creep susceptibility using several classifiers, namely the k-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN), Naive Bayes (NB), Random Forest (RF), and Support Vector Machine (SVM) models. To develop the classification models, we downscaled 292 data from 4,618 field survey data. About 70% of the selected data were used for training, with the remaining 30% used for model testing. The developed models have the classification accuracy of 0.727 for k-NN, 0.750 for NB, 0.807 for RF, and 0.750 for SVM against test datasets representing 30% of the total data. Furthermore, we estimated Cohen's Kappa index as 0.534, 0.580, 0.673, and 0.585, with AUC values of 0.872, 0.912, 0.943, and 0.834, respectively. The machine learning-based classifications for soil creep susceptibility were RF, NB, SVM, and k-NN in that order. Our findings indicate that the machine learning classifiers can provide valuable information in establishing and implementing natural disaster management plans in mountainous areas.

Plastically deformed layer influences the mechanical property of the mechanical element such as creep hardening, microscopical crack and stress corrosion destruction. Therefore, the property so called the surface integrity has to be considered, and the machined surface including plastic deformation, distribution of stress has to be conducted quantitatively. This paper explains the orthogonal cutting, and made an orthogonal cutting model using the finite element method, then analyzed cutting power, plastic deformation of workpiece. It introduces the developed subsequent recrystallizations technique for measurement of the plastic strain of machined surface, and verified the technique.
