Creep analysis of concrete filled steel tube arch bridges

  • Applying the method calculating creep of Concrete Filled steel Tube (CFT) members based on the Elastic Continuation and Plastic Flow theory for concrete creep with the finite element method, the paper develops a new numerical method for the creep of CFT arch bridges considering effects of bending moment. It is shown that the method is feasible and reasonable through comparing the predicted stresses and deflection caused by the creep with the results obtained by the method of Gu et al. (2001) based on ACI209R model and experimental data of an actual CFT arch bridge. Furthermore, nine CFT arch bridges with different types are calculated and analyzed with and without the effects of bending moment. As a result, the bending moment has considerable influences on long-term deformations and internal forces of CFT arch bridges, especially when the section of arch rib is subjected to a large bending moment.

콘크리트 크리프 예측을 위한 유변학적 접근 (A Rheological Approach on Prediction of Concrete Creep)

  • 본 논문은 콘크리트의 크리프 현상에 대한 보다 단순하고 합리적인 유변학적 모델을 구성하고, 크리프 예측 모델 개발에 대한 하나의 방법론을 제시하는 데에 일차적인 목표가 있다. 장기적인 응력에 의한 콘크리트의 변형은 발생 메커니즘과 시간 의존성 여부에 따라 즉각적인 탄성 변형과 시간 의존적 단기 크리프, 시간 독립적 단기 크리프, 장기 크리프의 합으로 볼 수 있으며, 이들 변형을 모사하기 위해 6개의 매개변수를 갖는 유변학 모델을 구성하였다. 각 매개변수의 구성에는 미세 프리스트레스 고체화 이론과 기존 설계기준을 활용하였고, 이론적 접근이 어려운 경우에 한해 수치적 접근을 시도하였다. 수립된 모델의 검증은 실제 실험 데이터를 사용하였고, 기존 모델 및 설계식과 비교 평가하여 그 합리성을 확인하였다.

Creep properties and damage model for salt rock under low-frequency cyclic loading

  • Triaxial compression creep tests were performed on salt rock samples using cyclic confining pressure with a static axial pressure. The test results show that, up to a certain time, changes in the confining pressure have little influence on creep properties of salt rock, and the axial creep curve is smooth. After this point, the axial creep curve clearly fluctuates with the confining pressure, and is approximately a straight line both when the confining pressure decreases and when it increases within one cycle period. The slope of these lines differs: it is greater when the confining pressure decreases than when it increases. In accordance with rheology model theory, axial creep equations were deduced for Maxwell and Kelvin models under cyclic loading. These were combined to establish an axial creep equation for the Burgers model. We supposed that damage evolution follows an exponential law during creep process and replaced the apparent stress in creep equation for the Burgers model with the effective stress, the axial creep damage equation for the Burgers model was obtained. The model suitability was verified using creep test results for salt rock. The fitting curves are in excellent agreement with the test curves, so the proposed model can well reflect the creep behavior of salt rock under low-frequency cyclic loading. In particular, it reflects the fluctuations in creep deformation and creep rate as the confining pressure increasing and decreasing under different cycle periods.

  • The dynamics of train has recently been analysed in many cases and very complex nonlinear creep theories have been developed by many engineers. But much calculation time is spent and latest complex creep theories cannot be adapted in train analysis. In this study efficient and fast train analysis method was suggested. Many of degree of freedom were reduced in multi-vehicle system using equivalent system and fast calculation time was achieved. And the accuracy of equivalent system method was proved by linear and nonlinear dynamic analysis.

Continuous relaxation spectrum for the numerical analysis of concrete creep

  • Efficient numerical finite element analysis of creeping concrete structures requires the use Kelvin or Maxwell chain model, which is most conveniently identified from a continuous retardation or relaxation spectrum, the spectrum in turn being determined from the given compliance or relaxation function. The method of doing that within the context of solidification theory for creep with aging was previously worked out by Bazant and Xi, but only for the case of a continuous retardation spectrum based on Kelvin chain. The present paper is motivated by the need to incorporate concrete creep into the recently published microplane model M4 for nonlinear triaxial behavior of concrete, including tensile fracturing and behavior under compression. In that context. the Maxwell chain is more effective than Kelvin chain. because of the kinematic constraint of the microplanes used in M4. Determination of the continuous relaxation spectrum for Maxwell chain. based on the solidification theory, is outlined and numerical examples are presented.

  • The welding residual stresses produced by welding frequently cause a crack and promote stress corrosion etc. in heat affected zone contained with external load and weakness of material. For the purpose pof relaxation of welding residual stress, post welding heat teratment(PWHT) is widely used. In this paper, the computer program which is based on Thermal-Elasto-plastic-creep theory for plane deformation on developed by finite element method (F.E.M) and verified its propriety by experimental measurement and also by using the developed computer program. The mechanical behavior of butt welding joint is clairfied during PWHT.

  • 극지방의 해양 환경은 낮은 온도와 함께 여러 가지 형태로 존재하는 얼음의 분포에 의해 큰 영향을 받는다. 빙하와 빙산, 해빙 등 빙역학의 기초적인 이해를 위하여 본 연구는 polycrystalline ice의 재료적 특성과 파괴기구 등을 파악하고 극지 방하유동시 관측되는 creep 변경을 기술하기 위한 constitutive 모델을 제시하였다. 빙변형에 관여되는 여러 가지 물리적 변화 중 microcracking에 의한 재료의 손상을 주요인으로 간주하여 파손역학의 이론을 적용한 3차원 수치모델을 개발하였으며 기발표된 실험 결과와 비교하였다. 1축 균일압축을 받는 경우 실험 데이타와 수치모델은 유사한 거동을 보이고 있으며, 빙변형에 있어서 1, 2기 creep의 소성적 변형특성 뿐 아니라 microcracking에 의한3기(tertiary) creep의 특징까지도 잘 기술해 주고 있다.

Simplified analysis of creep for preloaded reconstituted soft alluvial soil from Famagusta Bay

  • Preloading of soft clays is a common ground stabilization method for improvement of compressibility and the undrained shear strength. The waiting period under preload is a primary design criterion controlling the degree of improvement obtained. Upon unloading the overconsolidation attained with respect to actual loads defines the long term performance. This paper presents a laboratory study for investigation of creep behavior of Famagusta Bay alluvial soft soil preloaded under various effective stresses for analysis of long term performance based on the degree of overconsolidation. Traditional one-dimensional consolidation tests as well as modified creep tests are performed on reconstituted soft specimens. Compressibility parameters are precisely backcalculated using one dimensional consolidation theory and the coefficient of creep is determined using the traditional Cassagrande method as well as two modified methods based on log cycles of time and the inflection of the creep curve. The test results indicated that the long term creep can be successfully predicted considering the proposed method. The creep coefficients derived as part of this method can also be related to the recompression index (recompression index, swelling index) considering the results of the testing method adopted in this study.

크리프 물성평가를 위한 구형압입 수치접근법 (A Numerical Approach to Spherical Indentation Techniques for Creep Property Evaluation)

  • 본 연구에서는 증분소성이론에 기초한 구형압입이론을 크리프 물성을 평가하기 위한 압입이론으로 확장했다. 먼저 크리프변형률 기울기가 일정한 지점을 유효 응력-변형률속도 최적 관측지점으로 선정했다. 구형압입시험 전산모사를 이용해 크리프 지수와 계수를 변화시켜 가면서 이에 따른 재료의 거동을 무차원 변수들 (${\xi}$, ${\psi}$)의 회귀식으로 표현해 크리프 물성평가를 위한 새로운 수치 접근법을 구축했다. 이를 토대로 구형압입시험으로부터 재료의 크리프지수 및 계수를 예측하는 물성평가 프로그램을 개발했다. 압입 하중-변위 곡선으로부터 크리프지수는 평균 1.5%, 크리프계수는 평균 1.0% 이내의 오차범위에서 물성치들을 얻을 수 있다.

  • This study is to measure the creep coefficient by 3 days, 7 days and 28 days in the age when loading for the quality assessment of $350kgf/cm^2$ in the high-strength concrete. And it is to analyze the behavior of creep coefficient by applying the experimental data though the compressive strength test, the elastic modulus test and the dry shrinkage test to the ACI-209, AASHTO-94 and CEB/FIP-90, the prediction mode, and the basis of concrete structural design. Also it is to analyze the behavior of short-term creep coefficient during 91 days in the age when loading through the experiment by using the regression analysis, the statistical theory. As applying it to the long-term behavior during 365 days and comparing with the creep prediction mode and examining it, the result from the analysis of the quality of the concrete is as follows. As the result of comparison and analysis about the ACI-209, AASHTO-94 and CEB/FIP-90, the prediction mode, and the basis of concrete structural design, the normal Portland cement class 1 shows the approximate value with the prediction of GEE/PIP-90 and the basis of concrete structural design, but in case of the prediction of ACI-209 and AASHTO-94, there would be worry of underestimation in the application.
