집단지성과 성과창출을 위한 통합적 개념틀 검토 (An Integrative Framework for Creating Collective Intelligence and Enhancing Performance)

  • This study was aimed at suggesting an integrative framework for creating collective intelligence and enhancing group performance after reviewing previous studies including those related to learning organizations, organizational learning, knowledge management, and collective intelligence. In the first, we examined that the similarities and differences between collective intelligence and other similar concepts, such as learning organizations, organizational learning, and knowledge management. Next, an integrative framework for creating collective intelligence and channeling it into strong group performance were suggested. In this process, we reviewed conditions for creating collective intelligence and segmented the major variables as expectancy, valence, and instrumentality, according to Vroom's (1964) expectancy theory. Characteristics of problems and the roles of leaders were respectively considered as valence for inducing collaboration and expectancy for managing probability to achieve goals. Instrumental factors were also adopted from conditions for creating group intelligence suggested from several researchers, such as creativity, openness, willingness for working together, horizontal communication, centralization in decision making, and building effective information and communication technology system and active usage of it. We discussed two potentially disputable matters about the scope and level of collective intelligence and group performance and suggest several theoretical and practical implications in the Discussion.

A study on the impacts of informal networks on knowledge diffusion in knowledge management

  • Knowledge management has garnered attention due to its role of maintaining competitive advantage. Creating and sharing knowledge is an essential part of managing knowledge. However, the best knowledge is underutilized because employees tend to seek knowledge through their informal networks, not reach out to other sources for obtaining the best knowledge. Prior studies on informal networks pointed out a negative influence of heavy reliance on learning through informal networks but they paid little attention to a structure of informal networks and its impacts on diffusion of knowledge. The aim of our study is to show impacts of informal network on knowledge management by employing a network structure and investigating diffusion of knowledge within it. Our study found out that performance of learning becomes lower in a highly clustered network. Creating random links such as serendipitous learning can improve performance of knowledge management. When employees rely on a knowledge management system, creating random links is not necessary. Costs of adopting knowledge affect performance of knowledge management.

The Effects of Creating Shared Value on Corporate Performance

  • Purpose - This study highlights the inter-dependence between business and society. Various business strategies like Corporate Philanthropy and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) are introduced to establish better relationship between business and society. Research Design, Data, and Methodology - This study presents a research model clarifying the role of Creating Shared Value (CSV) and its influence on overall corporate performance. Further, we reveal the mediating role of corporate trust generated by various mechanisms of economic and social values, leading to enhanced corporate performance. Results - The proposed research model addresses five different proposals indicating that, by incorporating CSV approaches, organizations can create both business and social values. These values help positively influence corporate trust, ultimately facilitating improvements in overall corporate performance. Conclusions - CSV is currently in its early stage; it is difficult to gather meaningful data to measure its performance. However, this study seeks to connect CSV with other important factors such as corporate trust. The proposed model can be a starting point for a more empirical and formal conceptualization of CSV along with other important links.

Importance-Performance Analysis of Mountain Village Promotion Projects in the Forest Sector by Upper-Level Local Governments

  • Background and objective: Due to the recent crisis of extinction in local areas, the mountain village promotion policy is recognized as an important task. This study examined the priorities of major policy projects in the forest sector that affect mountain village promotion. Methods: For research methods, literature search, expert advisory meetings, and a survey were conducted. The survey was conducted on 42 policy stakeholders from June 1 to August 13, 2021. The literature search was based on policy projects in the forest sector by 8 upper-level local governments including mountain villages. For questionnaire items, 173 forest policy projects were classified into 27 types through expert review, and the importance and performance of each type were rated on a 5-point Likert scale. Paired t-test, IPA, Locus for Focus model, and Borich needs assessment were used as the analysis methods, and the statistical program SPSS 21.0 was used as the analytical tool. Results: The results showed that 'creating forest-related jobs' and 'supporting cultivation of professional forestry workers' both showed high importance and performance, implying that they would show an effect in mountain village promotion. 'Creating forests for environmental improvement', 'discovering forest cultural assets' 'establishing and boosting forest tourism', 'providing forest therapy services', 'creating forest-related jobs', 'supporting community revitalization', and 'urban-rural exchanges' were found to be the types that needed improvement and concentration for mountain village promotion. In particular, 'creating forests for environmental improvement' and 'discovering forest cultural assets' were derived as priority considerations for mountain village promotion policies. Conclusion: In summary, it was found that in order to promote mountain villages, various content projects must be improved and carried out to enhance the physical environment and revitalize mountain villages.

개방형협업 참여자의 지식창출·지식공유 구조와 혁신 성과: 오픈소스 소프트웨어 개발 커뮤니티를 중심으로 (The Impact on Structures of Knowledge Creation and Sharing on Performance of Open Collaboration: Focus on Open Source Software Development Communities)

  • This research focus on the effect of developers' participation structure in knowledge creation and knowledge sharing activities in open source software development projects. Based on preferential selection theory, hypotheses of relationship between a developers' concentration of knowledge creation/sharing activities and collaboration performance was derived. To verify the hypotheses, we use the Gini coefficient in the commit contribution of the developers (knowledge creation) and the centralization index in the repository issue network (knowledge sharing network). Using social network analysis, this paper calculates centralization index from developers in the issue boards in each repository based on data from 837 repositories in GitHub, a leading open source software development platform. As a result, instead of all developers creating and sharing knowledge equally, only a few of developers creating and sharing knowledge intensively further improve the performance of the open collaboration. In other words, a few developers predominantly providing commit and actively responding to issues raised from other developers enhance the project performance. The results of this study are expected to be used by developers who manage open source software project as a governance strategy, which could improve the performance of open collaboration.

Supported and Unleashed - The Impact of Work Environment on the Creative Performance of Knowledge Workers: An Empirical Study in Saudi Arabia

  • Organizations pursue innovation to improve performance and gain competitive advantage, and knowledge workers represent an integral part of creating knowledge and helping organizations in their innovation efforts. The current paper seeks to examine the impact of the work environment on knowledge workers' creativity. Building on The Investment Theory of Creativity, The Componential Theory of Creativity, the Job Demand-Resource model, and the Resource Based View, we develop and test a model suggesting a relationship between work environment-social support, sufficient resources, organizational freedom, and organizational regulations-and the quantity and quality of the creative performance of knowledge workers. Using a sample of 167 engineers in Saudi Arabia, an emerging but wealthy country with huge innovation inspirations, the results of our Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression analysis indicate that all four elements of the work environment included in our study positively impact the quantity and quality of knowledge workers' creative performance. Our paper provides important contributions to the literature on the work environment, creativity, and knowledge management, with an emphasis on creativity in developing countries. Our study highlights the importance of creating a supportive and encouraging work environment for knowledge workers to foster their creativity. The study offers several theoretical and managerial implications, along with suggestions for future research.

금융기관의 공유가치창출(CSV)과 조직민첩성이 경영성과에 미치는 영향 연구 : 사회적자본 중심으로 (A Study on the Impact of Financial Institutions' Creating Shared Value and Organizational Agility on Management Performance : Focusing on Social Capital)

  • 금융기관 종사자 대상 연구에서 공유가치창출(CSV)과 조직민첩성이 경영성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구는 미비한 상황이다. 본 연구는 금융기관 종사자를 대상으로 CSV가 사회적자본을 통해 경영성과에 미치는 영향과 조직민첩성이 경영성과에 미치는 영향을 알아보는데 목적이 있으며, 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 경제적 가치는 구조적자본, 관계적자본에 긍정적 영향을 주었으나, 사회적가치는 관계적자본에만 긍정적 영향을 주었다. 둘째, 조직민첩성은 재무성과, 비재무성과에 긍정적 영향을 주었다. 셋째, 구조적자본은 비재무성과에만 긍정적 영향을 주었으며, 관계적자본은 재무성과, 비재무성과에 긍정적 영향을 주었다. 이런 연구결과를 종합해 볼 때, 대부분의 변수간에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있으나, 사회적가치는 구조적자본에 구조적자본은 재무성과에 영향을 미치지 않는 것을 확인하였다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 바탕으로 금융기관의 경영성과를 높이기 위해 사회적가치와 구조적자본 강화의 필요성을 제안하였으며, 결론 및 시사점과 향후 연구방향을 제시하였다.

만화 소재 뮤지컬에 있어서 만화특성의 지속성과 변형에 대한 시론적 연구 (Continuity and Transformation of the Cartoon Strip for the Musical Performance)

  • 이 연구는 만화 원작을 소재로 한 뮤지컬의 기획과 스토리텔링 및 마케팅체계를 분석하여 만화의 뮤지컬화 과정에서 만화의 특성이 어떻게 고려되고 있는가를 분석하는데 초점을 두었다. 이를 위하여 만화 '위대한 캣츠비'가 '뮤지컬 '위대한 캣츠비'로 재구성된 사례를 미디어믹스 관점에서 분석하였다. 사례분석은 만화를 활용한 뮤지컬의 기획 체계, 스토리텔링구조, 캐릭터설정, 마케팅 체계를 중심으로 이루어졌다. 분석결과, 만화의 세계관과 스토리텔링 체계는 뮤지컬의 기획 및 마케팅 과정에서도 중요한 요소로 고려되고 있지만, 작가주의 관점보다는 관객의 수요와 몰입을 유도하기 위한 관점에서 강조와 생략 및 변형을 통해 재구조화되는 것으로 나타났다. 뮤지컬의 비주얼스토리텔링 구조는 디지털영상과 무대관리, 그리고 음악을 활용하여 서사적 스토리텔링과 연결되는 종합적인 체계로 이루어져 있다. 그리고 만화뮤지컬은 스토리텔링과 캐릭터 설정과정에서 명확하고 대립적인 부분을 부각시키고, 갈등과 해소, 극적 반전, 코믹요소 활동 등을 통해 관객의 몰입을 유도하고 있다. 또한 만화의 시각적 이미지와 상징기호들은 뮤지컬의 디지털영상과 무대장치 및 소품 등 무대연출을 통해 뮤지컬특성에 맞게 재구성되고 있는 것을 나타났다. 결론적으로 만화의 뮤지컬화 작업은 기획, 제작, 마케팅 과정 전반에 걸쳐서 만화의 특성을 중심축으로 뮤지컬의 특성과 산업구조를 고려하여 이루어진다고 볼 수 있다.

중소기업의 해외마케팅에서 고객경험이 수출성과에 미치는 영향: 인적접촉과 민첩성의 조절효과 (The Effect of Customer Experience on Export Performance in Overseas Marketing of SMEs: Moderating Effects of the Personal Contacts and Agility)

  • As the digital era accelerates, traditional perspectives have limitations in explaining the success or failure of export performance. The purpose of this study is to analyze new factors affecting export performance from the perspective of customer experience, which has emerged as an important factor in securing a competitive advantage and generating organizational performance. After deriving hypotheses based on literature review and discussion, a research model is designed in which three factors of customer experience such as understanding customer's objectives, customer value creation capability, and customer journey management are the antecedents, and export performance is the dependent variable. This model also includes organizational agility and personal contact as the moderating variables. To verify the hypotheses, multiple regression analysis was conducted on the collected data drawn from 198 SME exporters. According to the analysis results, it was found that all three antecedents positively affected export performance. In particular, the organizational agility and personal contact were confirmed to have a moderating effect that creates better export performance by interacting with customer value creation capability. The theoretical significance of this study is to find that effective customer experience management can be a key factor in creating export performance. The results suggest that checking the overall customer journey, exporters should select and intervene to intensively manage key touch points that can have a decisive impact on the quality of customer experience. At the end of the paper, practical implications to be considered in creating export performance through effective customer experience management are presented.

기업부실 원인이 회생전략과 회생성과에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Corporate Insolvency Cause on Turnaround Strategies and Turnaround Performance)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 부실기업에서 회생과정을 거쳐 정상기업으로 전환된 회생기업을 대상으로 기업부실 원인과 기업이 선택하는 회생전략 사이의 관련성을 확인하고, 기업이 추구하는 회생전략에 따라 회생성과가 어떻게 달라지는지를 확인하는 데 있다. 국내 상장된 제조기업 중 2000년부터 2012년까지 법원에 법정관리 및 화의신청을 한 기업과 워크아웃 기업중 기업회생에 성공한 113개 기업을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고 회수된 55개 설문과 공시자료를 바탕으로 다중회귀모형에 의해 실증 분석한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 먼저, 내부부실원인은 자산감축과 비용절감, 즉 효율성제고전략에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 반대로 외부부실원인은 수익창출전략(제품/서비스감축, 제품/서비스확대)에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 다음으로, 기업이 추구하는 회생전략에 따라 회생성과가 달라지는 지를 실증 분석한 결과, 효율성제고전략(자산감축과 비용절감)은 부채비율감소에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고, 반대로 수익창출전략(제품/서비스감축과 제품/서비스확대)은 매출액증가율에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 기존의 부실원인과 회생전략, 회생전략이 회생성과에 미치는 포괄적 분석모형을 넘어 회생원인에 따라 기업이 보다 주안점을 두는 회생전략이 어떻게 달라지며, 회생전략에 따라 회생성과도 달라질 수 있음을 실증적으로 규명해 보았다는데 연구의 의의를 찾을 수 있다.
