  • In order to develop the end use of cylindrical laminated veneer lumber (LVL) such as wooden crafts, the water proof-bonding strength, the resistance to abrasion and the surface hardness by painting the surface of LVL were investigated. The study results were as follows; The water proof-bonding strength through 5 cyclic test by boiling in water immersion and drying were favorable without delamination of glue line. Then the formulation of glue was resorcinol resin (100) to hardener of paraformaldehyde (5) by mixed weight percentage. The resistance to abrasion was relatively higher at cross section than tangential section. When tangential section of LVL was painted by UV protection oil, the resistance to abrasion was improved. In case of an cross section of LVL, the higher surface hardness appeared at larch core than radiata pine LVL. Also, in case of an tangential section of LVL, the higher surface hardness appeared at glue line than veneer side.

  • The floating body discussed in this study is a 2-D rectangular floating unit supported by four vertical piles at its corners. Structures of this type are frequently seen as floating piers for the crafts in a small harbour. The movement in some modes of motion of such a flating body is fully or partially restrincted by the piles. The authors(Kim et al. 1994) carried out a series of model tests on its wave control function, its motion and the loads on piles. The experimental results showed that a certain degree of intial constriction force which clamps the floating unit in the horizontal direction can effectively reduce the body motion and wave energy without increasing mooring forces. This may be due to the friction forces occuring between the piles and the rollers installed in the mooring equipments on the floating unit. In this paper, we develop a numerical model for the prediction of wave transformation and floating body motions, where the friction force is idealized as the Coulomb friction and linearized into a damping force using the equivalent damping cofficient. This linearization is verified by comparing the results of motions between the linear and nonlinear analysis of the ezuations of motion. We further compare the caculation results by the linear model with the experimental results and discuss the effect of the friction force or the constriction force on body motions and wave energy dissipation.

First part of this paper refers to the background of those aviation deficiencies on mechanical, human and environment structures which influence directly to the air accidents and general survey on various theories of the aircraft's systems. On the way we discussed the general situations of the air tool's deficiencies which cause tragic accidents to the human lives and assets. After analysis on the situations we suggest the new systems which would forecast more detail accuracies concerned air elements for the safety flying. Then we introduce the following new systems resulting from the forecasting which can solve problems on aircraft deficiencies and complex interrelationships among air accidental factors. To simplify the complex systems, we needed to build the mechanical and organizational database for maintaining the procedures of the past troubleshooting on the major parts preventing deficiencies of those mechanical units. These suggested systems will contribute a great deal of aids, the maintenance credibility and air safety for the air operations and all customers in the world. Avoiding the past troubleshooting from just by using simple systems which can forecast main causes of the units and parts of the crafts, this system will be able to provide excellent management tools for the promoting aviational industries. The comfortable and convenient air operations are very valuable works, and the scientific method and detail maintenance will improve our daily air life by minimizing accidents. Adapting these developing systems, for the forecasting aircraft deficiencies and accidents can be integrated with the other aircraft management systems to promote more air safety in the world. This study is focused to eliminating aircraft accidents through forecasting deficiency symptom procedures by relational coordinations among all of the systems. Futhermore we need continuously detailed analysis and study for eliminating air accidents all together those who work in those fields.

  • The purpose of this study is to grasp the meanings of retro-fashion, to research the design characteristics and background on the birth of repro-fashion. It can help to confirm the importance of aesthetic marketing which is based on human feelings, the roles and cultural and industrial meanings. Reto-fashion Is one of the mediums between the expression of Post-modern fashion and emotional sympath of human beings as consumer and fashion creators. So this inspiration is the way of fashion creativities. The backgrounds of appearance repro-fashion are reflection about materialism and technique and 20th century, the sense of instability and finding new ideas from the past. The characteristics of retro-fashion designs are as follows : First, the styles have been come from 50's. 60's, 70's, and 80\`s. It means that the styles not just expressed to return to the past simply but an expression the emotional state for missing the past. Second, the colors and materials are various also as like styles. Third, the decorations of repro-fashion are more crafts by human. The roles of retro-fashion are for creation of high valued product in fashion design, expression of individuality with disharmonized coordination and application as a fusion style. The cultural and industrial meaning of repro-fashion are endowment of aesthetic marketing using human feeling in fashion marketing area and pursuing of the Renaissance of fashion culture and industry. Therefore it is needed that design critics and analysis going side by culture and industry condition for fashion study with human feelings in 21th century.

  • The Usages of composite materials have been steadily on the rise in the industries of automobiles, air crafts, shipbuilding and other structures for transportations. Commonly required in those industries are light weight and high strength of the structures. Consequently, serious efforts in research have been focused on searching for light materials and on developments and characterizations of advanced substitutes including various kinds of composite materials. In this investigation, transversely isotropic composite materials are chosen and formed into two kinds of beams; Euler-Bernoulli beam(thin team) and Timoshenko beam(thick beam) for determinations of elastic constants. As an experimental technique Impulse Excitation Method is utilized to measure resonance frequencies of the beams of the composite materials in vibration tests. Elastic constants are evaluated from measured resonance frequencies for the two types of beams to observe and establish possible existence of effects of rotary inertia and shear deformations.

  • Today, boundaries between genres are collapsed and there are mutual convergence and consilience in each field of the society. In art and design, new concepts for the convergence of art and design, such as graft of 'art and design' and 'technology and art', 'art design', 'commercialization of art', etc, are suggested. Especially, furniture is changed from the furniture as a living tool whose purpose is practical properties to the furniture combined by artistic properties and emotional factors with a concept related to the convergence of art and design, such as 'design as an art', 'useable art', etc. For the evidence, Artfurniture which was treated as just a part of decorative arts is focused by expressive media of the convergence between art and design and it became a genre of independent art. In addition, it is approaching to people as 'furniture as an art' and 'art as furniture'. Popularization of art and art of design are generalized and now, it's meaningless to divide the boundary between art and design. Before the discussion about convergence of each concept in non-boundary phenomena of art and design, it should be grasp essentials of art and design and understand the boundaries. The exploration of the essences and roles will be the first step to find new value through the convergence of art and design. Therefore, this thesis intends to grasp the stream value of two concepts have been changed by examining periodical situation, market changes, etc. from division between previous art and design to modern times, based on them, analyze roles of art and design in modern artfurniture and interpret relations between art and design for current time.
