Comparative Analysis of the Roles and Identities of Artists and Fashion designers

  • The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the identities and roles so that they can grasp their social roles and directions. Artists show a change in identity from the deification of modern artists with freedom and genius to artists who challenge the cognitive aspect of art and redefine the scope and concept of artists by expanding their social role. Artists dreaming of an ideal art utopia, in which art, society, politics, and daily life are coordinated, are constantly presenting the social role and direction of art through the combination and challenge of new ways of art and craft, beauty and function, creative imagination, and public service. Fashion designers act as contemporary genius artists, creators who express the appearance of the times, practitioners who advocate social values and changes, members of business in the fashion system, celebrities who are spotlighted by the public at the center of the fashion industry, or fashion influencers. Thus, fashion designers are complex or selective in their role depending on the fashion philosophy of individual designers or location given within the fashion system. They are becoming the subject of creating the culture of the times by expressing social ideology or playing a role in practicing art in life that leads social culture so as to raise the value of fashion in their development and satisfy cultural enjoyment of fashion consumers who consume art in everyday life.

재료 및 기법의 특성에 기반하는 업사이클 패션 디자인 연구 (A Study on Upcycle Fashion Design Based on the Characteristics of Materials and Techniques)

  • The global fashion industry produces significant carbon emission and micro-plastics in oceans. Studies on sustainable design methods as such environmental issues in fashion are becoming intensely problematic. This study conducted a case study on 100 upcycle fashion brands to propose strategical upcycle fashion designs to compete in a sustainable fashion market. A literature review indicated that 3 types of textile wastes are generated as upcycling materials: post-producer, pre-consumer and post-consumer. Wastes are categorized together with 3 types of techniques: redesigning, reconstruction and handcrafting. This research derived 7 types of upcycle fashion designs that have the following features: to make luxury upcycle fashion products, to make sustainable grunge looks, to re-evaluate deadstocks, to recover vintage clothes, to convert waste into craft-arts, to offer solutions for damaged products, and to make zero-waste small fabric waste. The study results show that key drivers in the upcycle fashion design are the redesignability of materials and technique-related costs. This study implies that adopting appropriate design features can be a useful strategy for designers. New technologies will solve current problems and encourage them to design products in a new circular value system.

가브리엘 샤넬의 모더니즘 - 패션 비즈니스를 중심으로 - (A Study on Modernism of Gabrielle Chanel - Focusing on her Fashion Business -)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate Modernism of Gabrielle Chanel in respect to her fashion business. Chanel always considered the work of a fashion designer 'a technique, a craft, a trade' and chastised couturiers who looked upon themselves as artists. She was the first to cater to the public in its broader sense and to produce standard which appealed to every taste, the first to democratize the art of dressmaking for purely economic reasons. The results were as follows; 1. Chanel personified ~his new spirit of independence and evolved a style of dress for the modern, liberated woman. 2. Chanel excelled at fabrics, their interpretation, and an ability to use them. She had taken a humble material, one that was used by men and that they had shunned, and turned it into a fashionable fabric. In the process she also accelerated the growth of the ready-to-wear industry for it was a fabric within the financial reach of the majority of woman who wanted to dress fashionably but were not well off. 3. Chanel thought black chic and would never go out of fashion. As American Vogue for 1 October 1926 prognosticated, her little black dress became a kind of uniform. 4. Chanel represented an exception among couturiers because she was flattered that her styles were so popular and widely copied. She believed that her style would be affirmed by high-street copies-after all, copying is the sincerest form of flattery. 5. Chanel changed the concept of costume jewellery. It was not an original idea of Chanel's. Whereas Poiret had pioneered the original idea of costume jewellery, it was Chanel's avant-garde way with it not to mention her usual deceptive simplicity and supreme artistry that made costume jewellery evolve a successful and lucrative part of the fashion industry.

학술적 기업가의 벤처기업 창업활동 지원 모델 (The Role of Academic Entrepreneurs and the Venture Business Supporting Model)

  • 본 연구는 학술적 기업가의 역할을 중심으로 학술적 기업가의 벤치기업 창업활동을 지원하기 위한 산 학 관 협력모델의 구성을 탐색하였다. 벤처기업 창업 인프라 제공 주체는 정부, 대학, 벤처캐피탈기관 등이 대표적이며, 그 가운데 대학, 특히 학술적 기업가들의 역할이 가장 중요하다. 이와 같은 학술적 기업가의 성공적 창업은 기초환경요인의 유효성 여부에 크게 좌우된다. 대학은 학술적 기업가들의 창업동기와 제약 요인을 바탕으로 정책, 절차, 그리고 보조금 지원 등 공식적 지원프로그램을 통해 경제개발에 기여할 수 있는 연구를 수행하도록 지원할 필요가 있다. 이를 위해 기술이전시스템 추측, 협동 교육시스템 도입, 벤처기업 창업보육시스템 구축, 그리고 학술적 기업가 활동 지원문화 조성프로그램 등을 마련해야한다. 이에 본 연구는 학술적 기업가의 창업동기를 바탕으로 창업활동을 하나의 과정으로 간주하고 창업지원 주체별 역할에 근거하여 학술적 기업가의 창업활동을 지원하기 위한 산 학 관 협력 모델을 탐색하였다.

  • 플레저 보트나 요트는 FRP나 알루미늄으로 제작되고 있으나 FRP는 해양환경오염으로, 알루미늄은 낮은 가격 경쟁력으로 인하여 해당 제품의 시장 지배력이 약화되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 선체를 폴리에틸렌으로 제작하여 일본소형선박검사사무규정세칙에서 제안하고 있는 소형선체에 대한 구조 안전성 평가 방법을 통하여 폴리에틸렌 선체의 구조 안전성을 확인한 결과, 폴리에틸렌 보트가 FRP 보트보다 매우 높은 구조 안전성을 보였다.

새만금 복합곡물단지의 6차산업화 모델 분석 (Analysis of a 6th Industrialization Model in the Saemangeum Grain Complex)

  • As the awareness of food security has increased, the Korean government has established national projects, such as Saemangeum proclaimed land, to secure sources of grain. Saemangeum is a large-scale agricultural area that was constructed to maintain preparedness for unstable food markets. This study aims to develop a $6^{th}$ Industrialization Model (SIM) for Saemangeum Grain Complex by applying feasible strategies to wheat and two-rowed barley which have low self-sufficiency rates. In addition, this study estimates the potential economic value of each development strategy associated with a sixth industrialization model to create higher added values from production, processing and tourism experiences. The strategic plan for primary, secondary, and tertiary industries is to combine cultivating and processing wheat and two-rowed barley for sales and linking them to tourism experience. This study shows value added from the combination of the primary, secondary and tertiary industry of wheat and two-rowed barley are 7.5 and 23.0 times more than those of the primary and tertiary industry combination, respectively. Through branding Saemangeum Grain Complex's products, such as Saemanguem bread and craft beer, would further enhance the economic benefits derived from the complex.

지역축제와 연계한 관광문화상품 디자인 개발에 관한 연구 - 강원도 인제군 목공예산업을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Development of Design for Travel Souvenir Connected with a Local Festival - Focusing on the Wood-Craft Industry of Inje-county in Gangwon-province -)

  • 본 연구는 강원도 인제군 향토축제의 활성화와 목공예산업의 동반 육성을 궁극적인 목적으로 하고 있으며, 이에 따라 'DESIGN HOSPITAL' 의 운영, '퍼즐(Puzzle)식 레이저 목재상감 기법'을 접목시킨 모듈화 생산공정 구축을 통한 지역고유성을 상징하는 목공예 관광기념품의 디자인 개발 및 축제와 연계한 생산 유통계획을 수립하여 제시하였다. 연구방법으로서 문화컨텐츠화를 목표로 추진된 타 시 군 지역축제의 관광기념품 개발 성공사례를 분석, 벤치마킹을 통해 인제군의 여건에 적합한 관광문화상품 개발계획을 수립하고자 하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 우선, 가칭 '문화상품 DESIGN HOSPITAL'의 운용으로 생산업체에 디자인 아웃소싱을 실시, 디자인 전문 브레인을 무상 공급하여 인력난 해소 및 단기간의 제품개발 능력을 확보할 수 있도록 하였다. 이를 토대로 첨단 디지털 제작기술의 도입 및 활용에 의한 대량맞춤(Mass Customization) 생산을 적용하여 축제의 특성에 적합한 문화상품 생산유연성을 확보 가능토록 했으며, 차별화 된 마케팅 전략, 관광기념품 공모전을 통한 제품의 디자인파워 제고, 캐릭터 개발 등의 세부계획 실천으로 관내 목공예업체의 수익성 제고와 지역 문화/경제의 발전 가능성을 동시에 획득할 수 있도록 최적안을 제시하고자 하였다.

  • The raw materials for plant-stalk-folkcrafts are cultivated in the whole country. Most Korean farmers, to increase their income, have produced mats and containers with various plants as a side line from very long ago. At first, they began from the instruments of life and then made folkart and at last get to manu\ulcornerfacturing of industrial folk craft. The folkcrafts, made of plant-stalk, which could nor conform to changing society, are partly declined and partly handed down as the traditions. The social change today, however, makes living conditions more speedy and multisided, accordingly the characteristics of demand also become in\ulcornerdividual and various. While the demend is various like this, suppliers cannot answer demendants' requirements, and consequently, the demand and profit cannot be increased. According to this, the purpose of this study is set up to give an answer to the situation that is at the traditional standstill, through an examination of the motives. I. The crafts of plant-stalk are made only in an organized relationship between agriculture, industry and art as it is compounded art of gathering raw material, manufacturing, producing, improv\ulcornering design and production conditions. It may be possible that a farmer gathers material and weaves it manually but in others, it is im\ulcornerpossible to refine, bleach and dye because the process requires a professional industrial treatment. It is impossible to make art works to a farmer as every farner does not always have aesthetic sense. Though a farmer or producer has these all abilities, it is not desirable to him from economical view. 2. The development or improvement is essential in many sides but the most important thing seems to he in design. According to reports, it is, howevt!r, fact that the crafts improved in design of existing works have more expanded the sales than newly developed works. Therefore, ir appears advisable to improve designs of existing things positively as they have merit of occupying a position already, but on the other hand, new crafts have to be also developed and the producer should grasp the proper time. 3. Building up an industrial complex to improve design with collecting the producing districts for this works scattered allover the country is very desirable for speedy communication, intensive educa\ulcorner tion or training, and effective guidance. 4. In producing for export abroad, before everything, must know the life environment, custom! and manners, main thought of the country, and then produce according to these. S. The crafts of plant-stalk are the fIrst industry in present but in the futher it should change intc second or third industry. 6. A synethetic organization for supporting side line should be established for effectiveness, and experts have to be secured and also the educational-industrial complex and activation of study should be preceded.

우리나라 재래공업 산지의 사회적 분업 - 담양죽제품과 여주 도자기 산지를 사례로 - (Social division of labor in the traditional industry district - foursed on Damyang bamboo ware industry of Damyang and Yeoju pottery industry of Yeoju, South Korea)

  • 본 연구에서는 담양 죽제품과 여주 도자기 산지를 사례로 재래공업 존립의 중요한 요소인 산지내 사회적 분업의 실태, 특성 그리고 의의를 밝히고자 하였다. 산지내 사회적 분 업은 주로 원자재조달과 제품생산, 제품생산과 제품판매간에 이루어지고 있으며, 생산공정상 의 사회적 분업 및 제품생산 부문과 그 관련시설, 기계제작 부문간의 사회전 분업은 부분적 으로 이루어지고 있다. 그 성격에 있어서는 담양 죽제품산지는 산지완결형의 그리고 여주 도자기 산지는 미산지완결형의 특성이 강하다. 그리고 사회적 분업체계를 구성하는 기업들 은 독자성을 가진 수평적 분업체계를 유지하고 있으나 수요변화에 적극적으로 대응하기 위 한 신제품의 개발과 판로개척을 선도할 수 있는 기업이 밭달하지 못하고 있다. 산지존립에 있어서의 사회적 분업의 의의로는 생산공정의 세분화와 업종분화를 통해서 노동력 부족을 극복함과 동시에 생산비를 절감할 수 있고 소자본의 신규참여를 용이하게 하고 경기변동에 따른 위험부담을 분산하며 다방면에 걸친 축적된 노-하우를 활용한 업종과 제품의 전환을 통하여 제품의 다양화와 제품수명주기가 연장된다는 점을 들 수 있다.

한국 전통신발을 이용한 한국적 이미지 패션신발 문화상품 개발 (Development of Fashion Shoes with Korean Image as Cultural Goods by Using Korea Traditional Shoes)

  • Recently, the development of design of cultural goods is focusing on excessively workmanship-oriented craft items. However, an advanced strategy that is practical and develops market-oriented goods in the world needs to be suggested from now on and the selection of goods item aimed to world market is very urgent. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to design practical and worldwide market-oriented shoes with Korean traditional image as a cultural goods. As software tools, 2D Adobe Illustrator Adobe Photoshop and 3D MAX 8.0 Photoshop CS were used to design the shoes. From 8 types of pattern design to which Koran traditional pattern was applied and 7 types of shoe design to which Korean traditional shoes were applied, 60 types of planar shoes design coating developed pattern designs were made. Furthermore, 3D design of cultural goods of shoe made possible to observe it three-dimensionally and accurately from the top, the front and the side respectively. Finally, 43 types of cultural goods of shoe to which Korean traditional shoes were applied were designed successfully according to traditional patterns and colors. The systematic database was established based on the developed pattern design of the shoes and might make the best use of the development of related design of cultural goods. Although there were partly some limitations in the aspects of design and material development of Korean traditional shoes, this study would help the economics of shoe industry in Korea producing high value-added products.
