  • The various size and shape of cracks in concrete induce deterioration of reinforced concrete structures including nuclear power plants. The wider and deeper the crack is, the concrete structures are more vulnerable to carbonization. Thus, it is essential to develop a reliable measurement technique of cracks inside concrete. In this study, an ultrasonic test method is applied to the crack measurements. The results can be used for evaluation of existing reinforced concrete structures.

  • This thesis puts forward a suggestion of measuring inner crack and center segregation in steel processing by using scanner and image processing with sulfur printer. To sum up, there are three points in this system. First, it scans sulfur printer and process the image by using histogram, image processing, and the mask. Second, it measures crack and center segregation by the fictitious image and output the length, thickness, exponent and grade on the mornitor. And finally, it gathers the measurement result image and data at the server and this information is used as data for the next casting.

  • Recently, many existing bridges has been evaluated for maintenance and protection of collapse. In this study, field measurement according to truck loads tests on the reinforce concrete T beam bridge was carried out. Comparing the results of load test and structural analysis using the moments of inertia of gross section, crack section and effective section, and the moments of inertia of section considering depth of crack, it is conclude that the evaluation of load carrying capacity using the stress modification factor from structural analysis using the moments of inertia of gross section is more rational than using the other moments of inertia of sections.

  • The hole expansion tests using conical punch, flat punch or hemispherical punch are widely used for stretch flangeability verification of HSS. In this study, we investigate the strain distribution on the shear edges of the hole expansion test using grid marking and a projector. A small crack at the edge is distributed, resulting in a large gap between the HER and the crack strain. The strain distribution at the edges is irregular due to anisotropy of sheet metal. While an edge perpendicular to the rolling direction indicate a lower strain level compared to an edge parallel to the rolling direction, edge cracks occur at the edge perpendicular to the rolling direction. To predict the manifestation of edge cracks in FE analysis, the result of the hole expansion test with a crack strain measurement may well be a better tool than FLD. In this case, the level of strain and the direction of the edge relative to the rolling direction should be well considered.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the validity examination of the J-R curve characteristics for the nuclear reactor pressure vessel steels and Al alloys by the load ratio analysis. The results of the load ratio analysis are compared with those of the J-R curve which are obtained by the ASTM unloading compliance method. The crack length calculated by the load ratio analysis is agree well with the measured final crack length. The slope of the exponential J-R curve estimated by the load ratio analysis is slightly smaller than that by the ASTM unloading compliance method. The J-R curve obtained by the ASTM unloading compliance method is over-predicted and should be offsetted due to the initial negative crack. On the other hand, the load ratio analysis method can evaluate the J-R curve by only load-displacement curve without particular crack measurement equipment.

크리프 균열 성장 실험을 위한 소성 변위 결정법 (Plastic Displacement Estimates in Creep Crack Growth Testing)

  • The ASTM test standard recommends the use of the compact tension specimen for creep crack growth rates measurement. In the creep crack growth rate test, the displacement rate due to creep is obtained by subtracting the contribution of elastic and plastic components from the total load line displacement rate based on displacement partitioning method fur determining $C^*-integral$, which involves Ramberg-Osgood (R-O) fitting procedures. This paper investigates the effect of the R-O fitting procedures on plastic displacement rate estimates in creep crack growth testing, via detailed two-dimensional and three-dimensional finite element analyses of the standard compact tension specimen. Four different R-O fitting procedures are considered; (i) fitting the entire true stress-strain data up to the ultimate tensile strength, (ii) fitting the true stress-strain data from 0.1% strain to 0.8 of the true ultimate strain, (iii) fitting the true stress-strain data only up to 5% strain, and (iv) fitting the engineering stress-strain data. It is found that the last two procedures provide reasonably accurate plastic displacement rates and thus should be recommended in creep crack growth testing. Moreover, several advantages of fitting the engineering stress-strain data over fitting the true stress-strain data only up to 5% strain are discussed.

딥러닝 및 영상처리 기술을 활용한 콘크리트 균열 검출 방법 (A Method for Detecting Concrete Cracks using Deep-Learning and Image Processing)

  • Most of the current crack investigation work consists of visual inspection using simple measuring equipment such as crack scale. These methods involve the subjection of the inspector, which may lead to differences in the inspection results prepared by the inspector, and may lead to a large number of measurement errors. So, this study proposes an image-based crack detection method to enhance objectivity and efficiency of concrete crack investigation. In this study, YOLOv2 was used to determine the presence of cracks in the image information to ensure the speed and accuracy of detection for real-time analysis. In addition, we extracted shapes of cracks and calculated quantitatively, such as width and length using various image processing techniques. The results of this study will be used as a basis for the development of image-based facility defect diagnosis automation system.

  • The goal of this paper is to describe an advanced method of the fault diagnois using Control Theory with reference to a crack detection, a new way to localize the crack position under infulence of the plant disturbance and white measurement noise on a rotating shaft. As a first step, the shaft is physically modelled with a finite element method as usual and the dynamic mathematical model is derived from it using the Hamilton - principle and in this way the system is modelled by various subsystems. The equations of motion with crack is established by adaption of the local stiffness change through breathing and gaping from the crack to the equation of motion with un-damaged shaft. This is supposed to be regarded as reference for the given system. Based on the fictitious model of the time behaviour induced from vibration phenomena measured at the bearings, a nonlinear State Observer is designed in order to detect the crack on the shaft. This is elementary NL- observer(EOB). Using the elementary observer, an Estimator(Observer) Bank is established and arranged at the certain position on the shaft. In case a crack is found and its position is known, the procedure for the estimation of the depth is going to begin.

  • 본 논문에서는 탄소섬유 복합재료의 균열의 위치 및 성장을 감지하기 위하여 브리지 회로 개념이 적용된 전기 전위법을 제안하였다. 중앙 관통 균열을 가진 복합재료 박판 시험편에 두 쌍의 전극을 생성하였으며, 브리지 회로 개념을 적용하여 한 쌍의 전극에 외부 전압을 인가하고 다른 한 쌍의 전극으로부터 출력 전압 변화를 관찰하였다. 실험과 유한요소해석을 통하여 전극의 크기와 간격, 균열의 위치와 크기 및 성장 방향의 영향을 고찰하였다. 검출 가능한 균열의 크기는 전극의 크기 보다는 전극의 간격에 의한 영향이 더 컸으며, 전극의 크기와 간격이 작을수록 균열의 검출 능력이 우수하였다. 또한, 균열 크기가 증가할 수록, 입력 전극과 가까울수록 출력 전압의 변화가 큼을 관찰할 수 있었다.

무한 평면체에 존재하는 복수 표면균열의 성장에 대한 수명예측용 시뮬레이션 개발에 관한 연구 (A Program Development of Life Prediction Simulation for Multi-Surface Cracks on the Finite Plate)

  • The social demand urges us to use some equipments and structures in high temperature environment. By this occasion, the necessity of studying the fatigue crack growth is an important aspect of new materials. However, the present situation is rarely to accumulate the fatigue data. Especially, 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V steel and 304 stainless steel have been increased to be used under the severe condition of high temperature. And so, the fatigue estimation of those materials is important and appropriate. Fatigue tests have been carried out to examine the crack initiation, growth behaviour for the small fatigue crack of 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V steel and 304 stainless steel at room temperature and 538^{\circ}C$. The remote measurement system which has many merits of checking and saving the image for detailed examination was applied to closely detect the crack length. Generally, the fatigue crack initiated in the form of multiple cracks and grew each other. And then it coalesced to become a major crack. The major crack governed the rest of the fatigue life. In the growing process, each peripheral cracks interact and grow for a certain period. After then, it coalesced and fractured. On the basis of the above experimental data for the small crack, a simulation program was developed to predict the residual life time and to estimate the integrity of machine elements and structures. At the same time, the simulation was extended to 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V steel. The simulation results have shown a good agreement to those of the experimental ones for both materials of 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V steel and 304 stainless steel with small cracks. The NASCRAC has applied to compare the fatigue life with the experimental results. And so, it can be said that the simulation program is valuable tools to the industrial fields.
