  • In this study, multi-image information for the central Taewha River basin was used to develop and analyze a distribution map of non-point pollution sources. The data were collected using a hyper-sensor (image), aerial photography, and a field spectro-radiometer. An image correction process was performed for each image to develop an ortho-image. In addition, the spectra from the field spectro-radiometer measurements were analyzed for each classification to create land cover and distribution maps of non-point pollutant sources. In the western region of the Taewha River basin, where most of the forest and agricultural land is distributed, the distribution map showed generated loads for BOD($kg/km^2{\times}day$) of 1.0 - 2.3, for TN($kg/km^2{\times}day$) of 0.06 - 9.44, and for TP($kg/km^2{\times}day$) of 0.03 - 0.24, which were low load distributions. In the eastern region where urbanization is in progress, the BOD, TN, and TP were 85.9, 13.69, and 2.76, respectively and these showed relatively high load distributions when the land use was classified by plot.

  • The objective of this study was to select appropriate sites for reforestation CDM using satellite image and spatial data in North Korea. A suitable site for reforestation CDM can be defined as non-forest area since 1990. To detect land cover change between two different years and to delineate potential reforestation CDM site(unstocked forest, converted crop land, denuded bare land), Landsat TM satellite image which was scanned in 1988 and SPOT Pan-sharpened image which was scanned in 2007 were used. As a result of classification, 1,214 ha of forest area in 1989 had been converted to other land cover types in 2007. and 2,245 ha of the total study area was detected to be suitable for reforestation CDM. 79.2% of total potential CDM sites was converted crop land. Through topography and accessibility analysis for potential reforestation CDM sites detected by satellite image, suitability index was calculated and the potential reforestation area was reclassified into suitability grades.

  • The objectives of this investigation are : 1. To analyze spectral signature and the associated vegetation index for geometric illumination conditions inf1uenced by low solar elevation and high slope orientations in mountainous forest. 2. To assess the accuracy of the spectral angle mapper classification for the a winter land cover in comparison with the maximum likelihood classification. 3. To produce the image of water quality and water properties that could be used to estimate the water pollution sources and the tide-included by turbid water in estuarine and coastal areas. These objectives are to characterize environmental and ecological monitoring applications of the Nak-Dong River Basin by using Fuyo-1 OPS VNIR data acquired on December 26, 1992. The results of this paper are as follows : 1. The spectral digital numbers and vegetation indexes (NDVI and TVI) of mountainous forest are higher on the slope facing the sun than on the slope hidden the sun under low sun elevation condition. 2. The spectral angle mapper algorithm produces a more accurate land cover classification of areas with steep slope, various aspects and low solar elevation than the maximum likelihood classifier. 3. The maximum likelihood classification images can be used for identifying the location and movement of both freshwater and salt water, regardless of geometric illumination conditions. 4. The color-coded density sliced image of selected water bodies by using the near-infrared band 3 can provide distribution of the water quality of the Lower Nak-Dong River. 5. The color-coded normalized difference vegetation index image of the selected mountain forest is suitable to classify winter vegetation cover types, i.e., forest canopy densities for slope orientations.

  • Recently there have been an increasing number of companies suffering a negative brand image in the major media. Thompson et al. (2006) defined this as "$Doppelg{\ddot{a}}nger$ Brand Image." The images mentioned above have been created and propagated on Internet communities, which are one of the major paths of online spreading. This study will empirically analyze the effect of each $Doppelg{\ddot{a}}nger$ brand image on the customer's brand attitude, using a text-mining method focusing on "A company"'s case. This study will also cover the change in customer brand attitudes related to the company's correspondence in a situation in which the $Doppelg{\ddot{a}}nger$ brand image exists. In addition, the study will determine the presence of a priming effect after the spread of the $Doppelg{\ddot{a}}nger$ brand image. To that end, we collected 974 comments from 94,889 posts and A's official blogs related to A from B community, the largest automobile community site in Korea. Through this investigation, we obtained the following results. First, there was a significant difference in the ratio of negative sentiment of internet community before and after $Doppelg{\ddot{a}}nger$ brand image. Second, with regard to the topic modeling, the ratio of articles including negative topics increased and the other article ratio decreased over time. Finally, we found that there is a priming effect about negative brand image of "A company."

  • Multi-Spectral Camera(MSC) on the KOMPSAT-2 satellite was developed and launched as a main payload to provide 1m of GSD(Ground Sampling Distance) for one(1) channel panchromatic imaging and 4m of GSD for four(4) channel multi-spectral imaging at 685km altitude covering l5km of swath width. Since the compression on MSC image chain was required to overcome the mismatch between input data rate and output date rate JPEG-like method was selected and analyzed to check the influence on the performance. In normal operation the MSC data is being acquired and transmitted with lossy compression ratio to cover whole image channel and full swath width in real-time. In the other hand the MSC performance have carefully been handled to avoid or minimize any degradation so that it was analyzed and restored in KGS(KOMPSAT Ground Station) during LEOP(Launch and Early Operation Phase). While KOMPSAT-2 had been developed, new compression method based upon wavelet for space application was introduced and available for next satellite. The study on improvement of image chain including new compression method is asked for next KOMPSAT which requires better GSD and larger swath width In this paper, satellite image chain which consists of on-board image chain and on-ground image chain including general MSC description is briefly described. The performance influences on the image chain between two on-board compression methods which are or will be used for KOMPSAT are analyzed. The differences on performance between two methods are compared and the better solution for the performance improvement of image chain on KOMPSAT is suggested.

  • This research is intended to help the development of new products and marketing strategies studying consumers' knowledge level and attitude towards original brand and the extension attitude related to the brand image. The detailed purposes of this study are as follow: First, it is to measure consumers' knowledge and attitude towards original brand. Second, it is to clarify the dimensions of the image about the original brand and extended brand product which is perceived by the consumer. Third, it is to meassure image consistency and product similarity between the original brand and extended product. The sample group consisted of female college students 393 in Seoul. Stratified sampling, based on major and grade of sturients and the structure of the college they were attending was used as sampling method. Questionnaires, which were selected from literature and proceeding researches published in Korea and abroad, were modified for this study, SAS Package was used for data analysis. The results observed in this study were as follow: 1. Consumers' knowledge level about original brand showed high among students majoring in clothing-related subjects and their general attitude proved to be positive. 2. Image factors of original brand were classified to dignity factor, personality/modernity factor, femininity factor, and ornamentation factor. Lipstick is considered to have high image consistency and product similarity. 3. Comparing the attitude before and after extension, extension to lipstick which showed high image consistency and product similarity received more positive reactions than one to bed cover sheet. 4. It was founded that although knowledge and attitude towards original brand with image consistency had no influence on the extension attitude, knowledge and attitude without image consistency influence the extension attitude.

  • This paper proposes a new and simple stereo matching algorithm using the disparity space image (DSI) technique. First of all, we detect some salient feature points on each scan-line of the image pair and set the matching area using those points and define a simple cost matrix. And we take advantage of matching by pixel-by-pixel instead of using the matching window. While the pixel-by-pixel method boost up the speed of matching, because of no using neighbor information, the correctness of the matching may not be better. To cover this point, we expand the matching path using character of disparity-space-image for using neighbor information. In addition, we devise the compensated matching module using the volume of the disparity space image in order to improve the accuracy of the match. Consequently, we can reduce mismatches at the disparity discontinuities and can obtain the more detailed and correct disparity map.

  • This study presents the application of aerial photographs and the Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite, KOMPSAT-1 Electro-Optical Camera(EOC) imagery in detecting change in an urban area that has been rapidly growing. For the study, we used multi-temporal images which were acquired by two different sensors. Image registration and resampling were rallied out before performing change detection in a common reference system with the same spatial resolution. for all of the images. Results from image differencing and image ratioing techniques show that panchromatic aerial photographs and KOMPSAT-1 EOC images collected by different sensors have potential to detect changes of urban features such as building, road and other man-made structure. And the optimal threshold values were suggested in applying image differencing and image ratioing techniques for change detection.

  • Daylighting is the controlled admission of natural light into a space, reducing electric lighting and saving energy. By providing a direct link to the dynamic and perpetually evolving patterns of outdoor illumination, daylighting helps create a visually stimulating and comfort environment for building occupants, while reducing energy costs. Especially, however, glare is the most important factor in daylighting, which is issued by incoming direct sunlight into windows. This study analyzed the discomfort glare on a daylighting window by using Image processing methodology and found a solution to problems with glare source of occupants. There are several ways to evaluate discomfort glare such as UGR (Unified Glare Rating) of CIE, DGI (Daylight Glare Index, Hopkinson, 1972) and VCP (Visual Comfort Probability) of IES. These are used to apply to the relatively little artificial light source and they cannot cover discomfort glare from a real daylighting window. In this regarding, this paper aimed to calculate DGI index of the real daylighting window in a experimental space by using image processing methodology. The variables and outcomes are luminance distribution of non-shading window, effect of venetian blind installed on the window and locations related to position index of DGI.

  • This paper presents a model-based image steganography method based on Watson's visual model. Model-based steganography assumes a model for cover image statistics. This approach, however, has some weaknesses, including perceptual detectability. We propose to use Watson's visual model to improve perceptual undetectability of model-based steganography. The proposed method prevents visually perceptible changes during embedding. First, the maximum acceptable change in each discrete cosine transform coefficient is extracted based on Watson's visual model. Then, a model is fitted to a low-precision histogram of such coefficients and the message bits are encoded to this model. Finally, the encoded message bits are embedded in those coefficients whose maximum possible changes are visually imperceptible. Experimental results show that changes resulting from the proposed method are perceptually undetectable, whereas model-based steganography retains perceptually detectable changes. This perceptual undetectability is achieved while the perceptual quality - based on the structural similarity measure - and the security - based on two steganalysis methods - do not show any significant changes.
