The Asynchronous indivisual learning offer advantages such as allowing learners to study at their preferred times without spatial constraints. However, since these classes are not conducted in real-time, there are limitations in conveying learners' feedback on problematic or inadequately explained course content to the instructors. This paper proposed a system for relaying feedback information from learners who view course content to the instructors. Learners can investigate the reasons for pausing online recorded class content, and they can transmit these pause reasons along with the time information of the paused content to the instructors. Instructors receive feedback information and pause times of learners' online recorded class videos in graphical form, making it easier to identify areas with numerous issues in the course content at a glance. Instructors can incorporate this feedback to re-upload the content, resulting in higher-quality course materials, which, in turn, can enhance learners' academic achievements.

Course keeping is hard to implement under the condition of the propeller stopping or reversing at slow speed for berthing due to the ship's dynamic motion becoming highly nonlinear. To solve this problem, a practical Maneuvering Modeling Group (MMG) ship mathematic model with propeller reversing transverse forces and low speed correction is first discussed to be applied for the right-handed single-screw ship. Secondly, a novel PID-based nonlinear feedback algorithm driven by bipolar sigmoid function is proposed. The PID parameters are determined by a closed-loop gain shaping algorithm directly, while the closed-loop gain shaping theory was employed for effects analysis of this algorithm. Finally, simulation experiments were carried out on an LPG ship. It is shown that the energy consumption and the smoothness performance of the nonlinear feedback control are reduced by 4.2% and 14.6% with satisfactory control effects; the proposed algorithm has the advantages of robustness, energy saving and safety in berthing practice.

In this paper, DFE with feedforward section(FDFE) is used to mitigate ISI and improve BER generated in the course of storage and retrieval of high-density 2-dimensional data in digital holographic memory system. From the result of experiment, BER performance of DFE with feedforward section is improved about 37% than binary-decision course by direct thresholding.

The research of course-embedded learning evaluation method, which can be used to measure the competency of learners by evaluation of learning outcomes, has been performed for competency-based education in the university. In this paper, we propose an learning evaluation and adaptive feedback model based on learning outcomes, learning subjects, learning concepts graph, and an evaluation matrix. Firstly, we define the layered learning outcomes, a graph of learning subjects and concepts, and two association matric. Secondly, we define algorithms to calculate the level of learning achievement and the learning feedback to learners. We applied the proposed method to a specific course, "Java Programing", to validate the effectiveness of our method. The experimental results show that our proposed method can be useful to measure the learning achievement of learners and provide adaptive feedbacks to them.
This study aimed to investigate effects of peer feedback types and feedback acceptance levels on academic achievement in project-based learning. The participants were 70 middle-school students taking an English course. They were divided into corrective and suggestive feedback groups. These participants were asked to create user-created content (UCC) as an individual task and provide peer feedback on a peer's UCC in the same type of feedback group. Results showed that there were significant differences in academic achievement according to peer feedback types (corrective vs. suggestive) and feedback acceptance levels (high vs. low). In particular, the suggestive peer feedback group had higher academic achievement than the corrective peer feedback group. Moreover, the group with a high level of feedback acceptance gained higher academic achievement than the group with a low level of feedback acceptance. Moreover, there was an interaction effect between peer feedback types and feedback acceptance on academic achievement. These results indicate that peer feedback types and feedback acceptance should be considered for effective peer feedback activity. These findings provide practical implications for the design and implementation of peer feedback activity in project-based learning.
In this study, the effects of concept mapping with feedbacks providing explanatory comments on students' achievement, science learning anxiety, and science learning motivation were investigated in the undergraduate general chemistry course. The aptitude-treatment interactions between students' level of mastery goal orientation and the concept mapping with explanation feedback treatment were also examined. Sixty-seven freshmen from an university of education were assigned to a control group and a treatment group. The tests of mastery goal orientation, science anxiety, and science learning motivation were administered as pretests. For the treatment group, feedback providing students with explanatory comments through whole class discussion was presented after each concept mapping. Whereas the control group students were presented with opportunities solving excercise problems followed by explanation feedback. The intervention was lasted for 10 weeks (30 class periods). After the instructions, a researcher-made achievement test, the science learning anxiety test, and the science learning motivation test were administered. The results indicated that no statistically significant difference was found in students' achievement. In the science learning anxiety, however, the scores of the treatment group was significantly lower than those of the control group. The scores of the treatment group also tended to be higher, though not significant, than those of the control group in the science learning motivation. However, no significant aptitude-treatment interactions were found in all dependent variables.
In this study, we examined the cases of online video classes conducted under the COVID-19 situation for 46 first-year students majoring in electrical engineering at a 3-year college in Gyeongnam. The research was carried out according to the course development process so that classes could be conducted efficiently, focusing on electromagnetism(1) course in the second semester of the first year. The online class consisted of uploading PPT recorded videos and lecture materials to the LMS and giving assignments. The contents of the study were in the scope of examining learners' perceptions through online learning contents, assignment submission, mutual feedback between instructors and learners, university-level lecture evaluation, and free opinions on online video-based electromagnetism(1) classes. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that online lecture review and problem-solving are particularly important for understanding lecture materials, and also given the nature of engineering subjects that require plenty of mathematical expressions, the detailed and immediate feedback provided by instructor enhances learners' class satisfaction and understanding. Based on these, the direction of online classes to be developed after the COVID-19 pandemic and teaching and learning methods suitable for the characteristics of subjects were discussed.
This paper discusses a method of modified Elman network(1990) for nonlinear predictions and its a, pp.ication to forecasting daily exchange rate returns. The method consists of two stages that take advantages of both time domain filter and modified feedback networks. The first stage straightforwardly employs the filtering technique to remove extreme noise. In the second stage neural networks are designed to take the feedback from both hidden-layer units and the deviation of outputs from target values during learning. This combined feedback can be exploited to transfer unconsidered information on errors into the network system and, consequently, would improve predictions. The method a, pp.ars to dominate linear ARMA models and standard dynamic neural networks in one-step-ahead forecasting exchange rate returns.
How can an automated essay scoring (AES) program, which provides feedback for essays, be a formative tool for improving ESL writing? In spite of the increasing demands for English writing proficiency, English writing instruction has not been effective for teaching and learning because of a lack of timely and accurate feedback. In this context, AES as a possible solution has been gaining the attention of educators and scholars in ESL/EFL writing education because it can provide consistent and prompt feedback for student writers. This experimental study examined the impact of different types of feedback for a college ESL writing program using the Criterion AES system. The results reveal the positive impact of AES in a college-level ESL course and differences between the teacher's feedback and the AES feedback. The findings suggest that AES can be effectively integrated into ESL writing instruction as a formative assessment tool.
