The prediction of wind field is very important fact in the radioactive and chemical warfare. In spite of advanced numerical weather prediction modelling and computing technology, the high resolution prediction of wind field is limited by the very high integration costs. In this study we coupled the mesoscale numerical model and microscale diagnostic numerical model with minimized integration costs. This coupled model has not only the ability of prediction of high resolution wind field including complex building but also microscale pollutant diffusion fields. For military operation this system can help making a practical and cost-effective decision in a battle field.

Using an efficient adjoint variable method, we develop a unified design sensitivity analysis (DSA) method considering both steady state nonlinear heat conduction and geometrical nonlinear elasticity problems. Design sensitivity expressions with respect to thermal conductivity and Young's modulus are derived. Beside the temperature and displacement adjoint equations, another coupled one is defined regarding the obtained adjoint displacement field as the adjoint load in temperature field. The developed DSA method is shown to be very efficient and further extended to a topology design optimization method for the nonlinear weakly coupled thermo-elasticity problems using a density approach.

In this paper, we aim to prove coupled and common coupled fixed point theorems for contractive type conditions in the context of partial metric spaces by means of a control function, and to provide some corollaries of the established results. This paper presents a number of results that generalize and extend previous work in the field. In order to better illustrate the process, we provide examples.

In land navigation applications, two kinds of GPS/DR integration schemes are commonly used; the loosely-coupled integration scheme and the tightly-coupled one. The loosely-coupled integration filter has a simple structure and is easy to implement. When the number of visible satellites is insufficient, however, it cannot calibrate the errors of the DR sensors. On the contrary the tigthly-coupled integration filter can sup-press the growth of the error in the DR output even when the visibility is poor. However, it has larger com-putation load due to the state dimension and is inconsistent because of the variation in the measurement dimension. This paper presents a GPS/DR integration scheme with dual integration mode. During when the number of visible satellites is sufficient, the proposed scheme operates in a loosely-coupled integration mode. When the visibility becomes poor, it is switched into a tightly-coupled integration mode. Consequently, the pro-posed scheme can calibrate the DR sensors even when the visibility is poor. In addition, its computation time remains constant even if the number of visible satellites increases. Field experiment results show that the performance of the proposed integration method is almost similar to that of the tightly-coupled one.
This study investigates the static and dynamic structural analysis of symmetrical and asymmetrical coupled shear walls using the continuous and modified transfer matrix methods by idealizing the coupled shear wall as a three-field CTB-type replacement beam. The coupled shear wall is modeled as a continuous structure consisting of the parallel coupling of a Timoshenko beam in tension (with axial extensibility in the shear walls) and a shear beam (replacing the beam coupling effect between the shear walls). The variational method using the Hamilton principle is used to obtain the coupled differential equations and the boundary conditions associated with the model. Using the continuous method, closed-form analytical solutions to the differential equation for the coupled shear wall with uniform properties along the height are derived and a numerical solution using the modified transfer matrix is proposed to overcome the difficulty of coupled shear walls with non-uniform properties along height. The computational advantage of the modified transfer matrix method compared to the classical method is shown. The results of the numerical examples and the parametric analysis show that the proposed analytical and numerical model and method is accurate, reliable and involves reduced processing time for generalized static and dynamic structural analysis of coupled shear walls at a preliminary stage and can used as a verification method in the final stage of the project.
This study proves the causes of cylinder and piston jam by scratches which is the fatal problem of hydraulic breaker through the thermal analysis and thermal-structural coupled field analysis. The trouble from the scratch is a complex problem which can be caused by manufacturing process (this is an internal factor) and the users mistake or contamination in the hydraulic circuit (these are an external factor). Hence, it's not easy to investigate the causes, also hard to prevent the recurrence. In this reason, hydraulic breaker manufacturers are trying to improve the manufacturing process such as machining, heat treatment, grinding, cleaning, also to prevent the contamination in hydraulic circuit and to remove the remains. It's being managed thoroughly by manufacturers. This study shows the effect of the temperature rise by the frictional heat generated when the piston hits the tool on the hydraulic oil while the hydraulic breaker is operating, also the temperature distribution when it starts to affect main components of hydraulic breaker. The stress and the amount of deformation also could be found through thermal-structural coupled field analysis. It proved that the stress and deformation are proportionally increased according to the temperature rise in hit area, and it affects the cylinder and the viscosity of hydraulic oil inside the cylinder when it heats up beyond the certain temperature.

By using a coupled circuit, time-stepping, two-dimensional finite element method (2-D FEM), the performance of a stand-alone permanent-magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) with inset rotor can be computed without involving the classical two-axis model. The effects of interpolar air gap length and armature resistance on the load characteristics are investigated. It is shown that the interpolar flux density, and hence the amount of voltage compensation, is affected by magnetic saturation. Validity of the coupled circuit and field analysis is confirmed by experiments on a prototype generator. The machine exhibits an approximately level load characteristic when it is supplying an isolated unity-power-factor load.
It is important to control the electron energy distribution to have high quality plasma process. A conventional inductively coupled plasma(ICP) source with 13.56MHz power is not adequate for low damage sub-half micron patterning process due to higher electron temperature. Only the pulsed plasma technique seems to provide low electron temperature, and thus low process damage. Recently, a novel method proposed by us, named as ‘Enhanced-ICP’, which uses periodic weak axial magnetic field added to a normal ICP source, has shown great improvement in etch characteristics. changes of plasma characteristics according to the frequency of time-varying axial magnetic field have been observed by probe-time-averaged Langmuir probe.

A study was carried out to investigate the fluid-structure interaction phenomena of buried hydrophone system that exposed complex loads due to handling, transportation and installation. The buried hydrophone system has necessarily neighborhood structures for installation. Because of the neighborhood structure, acoustic field is deformed. We analyze the piezoelectric-structural-acoustic coupled problem and the results to use a finite element analysis software, ANSYS, which has an coupled field analysis capability. The effect of the component of hydrophone system is revealed altogether in pressure distribution. So, we classify and analyze the problem by four different compositions for decomposition.

Noise is a problem in many electronic circuits and active control system. Arising from spuriously coupled noise from other circuits, it corrupts the signal of interest and introduces an uncertainty into information it contains. In this paper, re have researched noise characteristics of the inductive displacement sensor which has been designed. n first present basic concept and characteristics of magnetic field-coupled noise in the sensor output signal. Then, n are present relation noise and sensor performances. Finally, we concentrate low noise design of a sensor driver and a signal detection circuit.
