  • Objective: The aim of this study is to develop new K-OWAS on the basis of the anthropometry of Koreans considering works in shipbuilding and heavy industry for evaluation whole-body working postures. Background: Work Related Musculoskeletal Disorders(WMSDs) were a leading cause of sick leaves and injuries in the industries of our country. Especially, awkward working postures and handling of heavy weight are known as a main cause of WMSDs. OWAS, RULA and REBA are much used as the method for evaluating the awkward working postures. OWAS is the working postures evaluation method that can be used for the evaluation of whole-body working postures. OWAS was the method made based on the anthropometry of the foreigner, working postures and weight does not fit our work state. Method: This method was evaluated considering the anthropometry of the Koreans, working postures and weight in shipbuilding and heavy industry work state in Korea. Results: Correlation of action level of OWAS and subjective discomfort for each body parts were not statistically significant($p{\geq}0.1$). But correlation of action level of K-OWAS and subjective discomfort for torso and waist were statistically significant($p{\leq}0.1$). Conclusion: K-OWAS was suitable in the evaluation of upper body including torso and waist. Application: New method for whole-body working postures from this study prevent WMSDs and help improvement of working environment and design of working method.

  • The purpose of this study is to elicit the planning factors for the embodiment of sense of place in public library. This study analyzes qualitatively the good places where the children seek for and evaluate in children's library. The primary method of survey in this study is the caption evaluation. The survey is conducted in libraries of three types. In the caption evaluation, children take good places into photograph by themselves and are asked for reasons, features and physical characteristics for the pictures on good places. Through the study of the preceding studies, this study takes four analysis frames, Path, Occupancy Place, Edge and Mark. According to four analysis frames, the principal features, physical characteristics and the examples in libraries of domestic and foreign country are put in order. The meanings of this study are summarized as followings; presenting the method of user's positive evaluation, studying the sense of place in children's view point, and presenting the interrelation pattern for embodiment of the rich sense of place.

  • Nonproprietary name may be used without restriction by the public at large and can be called common name, generic name. Nomenclature agencies exist in US, Great Britain, Japan and so on. The agencies maintain liaison with onε another in an effort to secure the wide adoption of thε most appropriate and universally acceptable designation for each drug. To prevent the confusion which arises when several nonproprietary names are used for a single drug, either in the same country or in several different countries, the WHO has assumed the responsibility of coordination existing nomenclature at the international level. In this study, the nomenclature for new drugs and the terminology to harmonize specifications for revision of Korean Pharmacopoeia (KP) were established.

  • Recently large scale earthquake s are occurred around the world following the damage of buildings. So the interest of preparing for earthquake seismic design and seismic performance has becoming high. School buildings are though used for educational purpose; they are also used as emergency shelter for local residents during earthquake disaster. However, the current seismic design ratio of our country (Korea) is 3.7% and if massive earthquake is occurred it follows a serious damage. In order to overcome this situation, seismic performance evaluation is carried out for existing school building and an accurate and appropriate seismic retrofit is required based on performance evaluation to upgrade the existing school buildings. In this paper, nonlinear static analysis on existing school buildings for ATC-40 and FEMA-356 are carried out using the capacity spectrum method to evaluate seismic performance and to determine the need for retrofitting. In addition, after reinforcement to verify the effect of retrofit enhance the seismic performance is applied the seismic performance evaluation is carried out to verify the effect of seismic retrofit time history analysis using nonlinear dynamic analysis is also performed and nonlinear behavior of earthquake load of seismic retrofit of structures was also investigated.

  • Game software is tremendous popularity in inside and outside of the country, so it rises market value. Therefore, it is important to study for the evaluation models of game software. In a general way, I think that ISO/IEC 9126 is the international standard of the software quality testing. Especially, game software quality has been more important on users and developers, so we need the compliance testing model of the game software. In this paper, we evaluate the game software quality objectively and quantitatively, we propose the software quality metrics of testing. Also, we propose the evaluation model of game software on the basis of international standard ISO/IEC 9126, six quality characteristic point of view. That is functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, portability, and maintainability.

  • The photovoltaic (PV) industry, which occupies about 80% share of domestic new and renewable energy (NRE) sales, has played an important role in the development of the Korean NRE industry. This was made possible by the government's implementation of the 3rd Basic New and Renewable Energy Plan, which promoted strategic PV R&D, infrastructure building, and a variety of PV deployment programs. For instance, 'One Million Green Homes', 'Feed in Tariff', and 'Renewable Portfolio Standards' programs contributed greatly to the dissemination of PV systems in the country. Furthermore, these programs were supported with more than 380 billion Won over 6 year period (2007~2012). The strategic PV R&D contributed to the fast follow-up in commercial technologies. Because of the recent, sharp decline in PV prices caused by oversupply and economic crisis in European countries, both foreign and domestic PV companies are going through painful restructuring. Under these circumstances, the Korean PV industry needs to find a new strategy for making a breakthrough, and in this sense a proactive role of the Korean government is desperately needed.

  • With automobiles sharply increasing in numbers worldwide, we are faced with critical social issues such as traffic accidents, traffic jams, environmental pollution, and economic inefficiency. In response, research on ITS is promoted mainly by regions with advanced automotive industry such as the U.S., Europe, and Japan. While Korea is working on moving forward in the global market through developing and turning to global standards systems related to ASV (Advanced Safety Vehicle), the country is not fully prepared for such projects. The purpose of ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) is to control a vehicle's longitudinal speed and distance and minimize driver workload. Such a system should be valuable in preventing accidents, as it reduces driver workload in the 21st-century world of telematics created by development of the automobile culture industry. In this light, the thesis presents a method to test and evaluate ACC system and a mathematical method to assess distance. For the proposed test and evaluation, theoretical values are tested with vehicle test and a database is acquired, by using vehicles equipped with an ACC system. Theoretical evaluation criteria for developing ACC system may be used and scenario-specific evaluation methods may find useful application through testing the formula proposed by comparing the database and mathematical method.
