The purpose of this study is to provide the useful reference to establish the system improvement plan that activates the counseling service quality for the disabled parents peer counselors. The qualitative case study method of Yin (2009) has been used to understand and reflect to the system for the experience of field counseling of the peer counselors for the disabled parents. 10 parents peer counselors for the disabled were proportionately sampled and interviewed about their experiences through a FGI and two individual interviews. The result of the study derived from total 87 abstract concepts and 17 categories and personal motivations for participating and changes from the experience are as follows: the effects of counseling are "mutual sympathy toward the same disability," "Identity transformation from nobody to somebody who gives hope," and "another social insurance and social safety network that parents disability make." The barrier facts for the parents peer counseling activation are: "problem of securing the position of the counseling site" and difficulty in finding the client due to lack of awareness and publicity. "The study suggests four programs to upgrade the parents peer counseling: (1) To secure the position of the counseling site, (2) To reestablish the status as a professional counselor. (3) The need of pokicy supplement and support from the government, (4) The expectancy of creating jobs through the conversion of full-time workers.

The objective of this study was to confirm the validity of classification of dental disability by measuring the dental treatment time required for disabled patients and identify the disability type that requires more of chair time. As a result of measuring a total of 123 patients who were admitted to the Seoul dental hospital for the disabled on Oct. 2014, I was able to make the following conclusions: 1. For dental counseling and check-up, the chair time did not show significant differences between the different types of disability. 2. For periodontal treatment, restorative treatment, root canal treatment, and surgical treatment, the difference of the chair time for dentally disabled patients was significantly longer than that of non-dentally disabled patients. 3. The difference in the total chair time for prosthetic treatment was statistically insignificant. However, each of the prosthetic treatment steps did show statistically significant differences.

The purpose of this study was to identify the effectiveness of the 8-week telephone counseling hypertension self-management program provided through welfare center nurses and nursing student volunteers for hypertensive patients with physical disabilities and brain lesions who use the welfare centers for the disabled. A quasi-experimental with non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was implemented. From December 2019 to May 2020, data from 28 controls and 29 experimental groups who completed pre and post-investigation were analyzed using the SPSS program. As a result of the main study, after the intervention, the knowledge of hypertension, seriousness and sensitivity among the health beliefs, and quality of life EQ-VAS indicated significant difference between the experimental group and the control group. Therefore, efforts to improve self-care behaviors and quality of life by applying various self-care programs to hypertensive patients with the disabled which require long-term health care will be needed continuously.
Objective: The disabled are in a blind spot for obtaining information on drugs, and the pharmacies' counseling on drug use is centered on non-disabled people. Few studies have investigated the current statuses of drug use by type of disability. The purpose of this study is to understand the drug use by type of disability and by life cycle of visually impaired and hearing impaired in Korea. Methods: The study participants consisted of 16 people with visually impairments, 12 people with hearing impairments. One in-depth interview was conducted per participant, and each interview was recorded and documented. Results: Common barriers against safe medication and medical service uses across disability types are 'lack of consideration and service for the disabled, limited access to medical facilities due to disability, limited access to information regarding medication use, psychological anxiety about drug use and side effects, and inconvenience regarding COVID-19 epidemic. The specific factors were 'difficulties in identifying proper medicines and following prescribed dosages' in the case of visually impaired, and 'problems with sign language interpretation system' for the hearing impaired. Conclusion: Disabled people are hindered from using medicines properly due to various factors. Based on the content derived from this study, it is necessary to eliminate the inhibition factors and devise specific measures for the safety of each type of disorder such as developing a method for medication counseling considering disabilities and establishing communication support systems.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the applicability and effectiveness of the Person - centered counseling program in the field of counseling service provided by the Independent Living Center for Persons with Disabilities. Thirteen participants, operating peer counseling program at the Independent Living Center who finished 9 sessions of person - centered counseling program over 3 months were interviewed. Eight categories such as "The relationship with myself and others", "Accepting oneself though with discomfort", "changed perspective about problems", "Recognizing the parts that oneself was not aware", "Accepting one's potentials as well as limitations", "Opportunity to reflect one's life", "Attitude about life ahead" were retrieved with 23 sub-categories. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the influencing factors on health-related quality of life of physically disabled persons. Method: Data was collected from 96 persons with a physical disability in three cities in Korea from June to September, 2003. Social support and depression were measured by a Social Support Questionnaire 6 ($SSQ_6$) and Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression questionnaire (CES-D). The Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale was used to measure self-esteem. Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) was measured using Smith Kline Beecham Quality of Life Scale (SBQOL). The SPSS WIN 11.0 version program was used for data analysis. Result: There were significant differences of HRQOL according to monthly income and economic status. All subjects had a high level of depression and low self-esteem. Conclusion: The findings of this study show that self-esteem and the size of the social support network are significant influencing variables on HRQOL in physically disabled persons. Nursing intervention and counseling programs which improve self-esteem and increase the size of a social support network are needed to promote HRQOL in physically disabled persons.

According to the 2017 national survey of the disabled persons conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, rehabilitation centers for the disabled appeared to be the service agency that disabled women use the most. This means that rehabilitation centers for the disabled hold an important role in securing the maternity rights of disabled women. However, in the practice of welfare for the disabled, programs for securing maternity rights are inadequate, and the actual condition is not being surveyed. As a result, programs related to maternity rights based on the legal basis exist, but actual support services for resolving the difficulties related to maternity rights that disabled women experience are inadequate. Thus, the study suggests that rehabilitation centers for the disabled should pay a central role in establishing the maternity rights of disabled women and provide support services such as developing a manual on basic information about pregnancy, childbirth, and child rearing, offering childbirth-related counseling, activating a self-help group, providing an individualized program for families, connecting with medical institutions, and supporting case management.

This study purposed to analyse smartphone addiction characteristics of people with disabilities and suggested to establish related prevention policies for them. The analysis of 20-50 aged 494 disabled people resulted, that the smartphone addiction rate of the disabled people was 12.55%. Smartphone use-, mobile messenger-, SNS- and game time were nearly the same or higher than the potential and high risk group from the survey on internet overdependence 2015. In the question about the awareness of smartphone addiction they answered the smartphone addiction is severe in the society, and they are aware of smartphone addiction counseling center. But they will not get a service form the centers. That suggests, that the government should promote the policy of smartphone addiction for the disabled. It should provide institutional strategy and structural change for prevention of smartphone addiction for the disabled.
