가격탄력성과 생산비용에 기초한 대량 마케팅과 표적시장 마케팅의 비교 분석 (Comparative Analyses of Mass Marketing and Target Marketing Based on Price Elasticity and Production Cost)

  • Purpose - It is widely accepted that the process of developing marketing strategy is composed of three steps: market segmentation, target market selection and positioning. However, mass marketing strategy based on cost reduction through economies of scale and standardized products, can be also an effective strategic option. Many marketing scholars including Theodore Levitt emphasize the importance of applying the mass production concept to various industries including service industries. Especially, in times of economic downturn, the capability of providing consumers with low-priced, value products can be an important source of competitive advantage, as well as the ability of providing high-priced premium products. Marketers should decide whether they will implement mass marketing strategy or target marketing strategy. The present study theoretically shows that firms should understand the target customers' price elasticity as well as the firm's cost structure in order to make such a strategic decision. Research design, data, and methodology - Instead of implementing an empirical study, this study provides a theoretical(mathematical) investigation on the effect of consumers' price elasticity on a firm's optimal price level, profit, sales volume, revenue, and cost. The results are mostly deduced from derivative calculations and several graphs are utilized to represent the results on the relationships between the variables under study. Results - The analytical results suggest that it is more profitable for a firm to adopt the segment/target marketing strategy (more specifically the differentiation strategy) when the degree of consumers' heterogeneity is high and the proportion of the fixed cost in the total cost is low. On the other hand, if the degree of consumers' heterogeneity is low and the fixed cost is high, it is better to adopt the mass marketing strategy or the cost leadership strategy. The strategy of concentrating on a single target market will be effective when consumers' needs are highly heterogeneous but the fixed cost is high. Any of the three types of generic strategies proposed my Porter(1980, 1985) can be applied when both the consumers' heterogeneity and the fixed cost are low. This study also proposes the contribution-margin-based method for developing the optimal pricing strategy. Conclusions - One of the primary roles of marketers is to find a proper compromise between the two conflicting goals of maximizing customer satisfaction and minimizing cost. In order to do so, he or she should understand the characteristics of the target customers as well as the cost structure of the firm. In addition to the theoretical analyses, this study discusses several business cases and explains how superior companies find the optimal compromise position between these two goals and dominate the market. One of the radical changes recently taking place in business arena is the reduction of production and distribution costs of both physical goods and information due to the advancement and the wide diffusion of information technology. The cost reduction combined with lowered priced elasticity incurred by customized products and services, will enable many firms to adopt the mass customization strategy.

선박당 평균대기비용에 의한 항만의 서비스 수준 평가 (Evaluating the Levels of Port Services by the Average Waiting Cost of Ships)

  • 본 연구는 1단계로 우리나라 무역항의 대기비용을 장기기회비용관점에서 산정하였다. 2단계로 이를 활용한 선박당 평균 대기비용을 활용하여 항만의 서비스 수준을 평가하는 방법을 제시하였다. 항만대기비용은 사회적 비용을 반영하기 때문에 특정 항만의 시설확충여부에 대한 의사결정지원 정보이지만 서비스지표로는 활용되기 어렵다. 또한 대기척수비율이나 대기시간비율도 시간기준의 양적 측면만을 반영한 불충분한 지표였다. 그러나 본 연구에서 제시한 선박당 평균대기비용은 대기시간과 선박 및 화물의 경제적 가치 손실을 동시에 반영하는 항만 서비스수준의 평가지표로 활용할 수 있다. 화주나 선사가 항만을 선택하는 과정에서도 매우 유용한 정보이다. 2007년 선박당 대기비용 기준으로 서비스 수준이 낮은 항만은 평택당진, 포항, 동해, 삼천포 순으로 분석되었다. 이는 항만 대기비용 관점의 포항, 인천, 광양, 평택당진, 울산 순서와는 다른 것이다. 항만 대기비용이 항만 관리자에게 중요한 지표라면 선박당 대기비용은 항만 이용자의 관점에서 항만별 서비스 수준을 평가할 수 있는 유용한 지표이다.

  • In this paper, development of TIM Module for constructing PDM will be introduced. Technical information relevant product data influences cost, quality, precision and productivity. One of the very important feature of product data is organizing not by oneself but very closed to many technical information such as document, file, image and analysis sheet. To manage various technical information, several kinds of management system are used in multi level of production system. PDM and TIM systems are being developed for suitable purpose and are in need of Network technology, Information Technology, Database, sharing and distributing information. Developed TIM system is based on Web environment. By using this system, we can manage systematic technical information and reduce cost for constructing PDM system. And also we will put to practical use another technical information management system for mold plant.

정기발주 재고모형에서 공급자 수율 정보 공유의 기대효과 분석 (Analysis of the Value of Yield Information under Periodic Review Inventory System)

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate the effects of sharing uncertain yield information with a downstream supply chain player. We are interested in understanding how the amount of yield uncertainty affects the supply-side benefits and/or costs, which has not been considered in the literature, in addition to the customer-side benefits. With that purpose, this work evaluates a supplier who provides yield information in comparison with another supplier who shares no information. We simulate an order-up-to type heuristic policy that is adapted from the literature and reasonably modified to represent yield information sharing with error. From the simulation study, we argue that the customer would experience cost reduction, but the cost for supplier's inventory is increasing when sharing yield information. Furthermore, the amount of benefits and costs are situational and affected by level of yield uncertainty and demand variance. Based on the simulation study, we finally make several recommendations for the supply-side approaches to yield information sharing.

  • Results of Investment mean not results of procedure but the final goal of an organization. That is to say, results focus on success or failure of investment. So, cost effectiveness means financial cost that is affected in order to attain the output of organizational goal. Many enterprises are investing in developing and redeveloping various projects of information systems. But, it is not generally considered to check values with monitoring and evaluating their projects. We propose a new value model for information systems investment.

  • 증가하는 이동 통신망 가입자를 수용하기 위한 셀 크기의 소형화는 잦은 위치 갱신을 유발시켜 위치 관리 비용의 증가를 가져왔다. 본 논문에서는 [l]에서 향후과제로 남겨두었던 호 수신 확률에 근거한 위치 관리 기법의 비용을 분석하여 제안된 기법이 기존의 방식(IS-41)보다 위치 관리 비용을 줄일. 수 있음을 증명하였다. 그리고 분석에 의해 계산된 위치 관리 비용을 시뮬레이션 결과와 비교해 보았다. 그 결과, 제안된 기법은 단말의 호 도착률이 낮은 경우, 위치 갱신을 생략하는데서 얻어지는 비용의 감소로 기존의 위치 관리 기법보다 전체 위치 관리 비용을 줄일 수 있으며, 호 도착률이 높아지더라도 위치 관리 비용이 기존 방식의 위치 관리 비용을 초과하지 않음을 보였다.

Design and Fabrication of a Low-cost Wafer-level Packaging for RF Devices

  • This paper presents the structure and process technology of simple and low-cost wafer-level packaging (WLP) for thin film radio frequency (RF) devices. Low-cost practical micromachining processes were proposed as an alternative to high-cost processes, such as silicon deep reactive ion etching (DRIE) or electro-plating, in order to reduce the fabrication cost. Gold (Au)/Tin (Sn) alloy was utilized as the solder material for bonding and hermetic sealing. The small size fabricated WLP of $1.04{\times}1.04{\times}0.4mm^3$ had an average shear strength of 10.425 $kg/mm^2$, and the leakage rate of all chips was lower than $1.2{\times}10^{-5}$ atm.cc/sec. These results met Military Standards 883F (MIL-STD-883F). As the newly proposed WLP structure is simple, and its process technology is inexpensive, the fabricated WLP is a good candidate for thin film type RF devices.

  • Mobile IP의 사용자 수가 증가함에 따라 무선 인터넷에서의 이동성 관리(mobility management)와 관련된 시그널링 오버헤드가 증가하게 된다. 이러한 이동성에 관련된 시그널링 오버헤드는 유선 네트웍 링크와 비교할 때 대역폭 자원이 더 적고 확장이 용이치 않은 무선 링크에 커다란 영향을 미치게 된다. 본 논문에서는 핸드오프 비율이 높은 엑세스 라우터(access router)들을 그룹 존(group zone)으로 형성하여 무선 링크에서의 시그널링 비용(cost)를 급격히 줄일 수 있는 동적 IP-Grouping 알고리듬을 제안한다. 또한 수학적 분석 및 모의 실험을 통해 제안된 알고리듬이 다양한 환경에서 Hierarchical Mobile IPv6보다 무선 링크에서의 시그널링 비용이 적게 소요됨을 보인다.

미용서비스 품질이 서비스 충성도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구: 관계품질과 전환비용의 매개효과를 중심으로 (A Study on the Impact of Service Quality on Service Loyalty in the Beauty Service: The Mediating Roles of Relationship Quality and Switching Cost)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating roles of the relationship quality and the switching cost during the processing of effects of service quality on the service loyalty in the beauty industry. Service quality factors were defined as the interaction quality, the outcome quality and the physical environment quality. The relationship quality were defined as the satisfaction and the trust of customer. Amos was used to analyze the research hypotheses and the proposed model. All research hypotheses were adopted. The empirical results were as follows; Service quality influenced positively on the relationship quality, and then the relationship quality yielded the service loyalty. Also the relationship quality influenced positively on the switching cost and then the switching cost influenced positively on the service loyalty. Each service quality dimension had a significant effect on the satisfaction, the trust and the relative importance of service quality dimensions on the satisfaction, the trust followed the order of the interaction quality, the outcome quality and the physical environment quality.

A time-cost tradeoff problem with multiple interim assessments under the precedence graph with two chains in parallel

  • We consider a project scheduling problem in which the jobs can be compressed by using additional resource to meet the corresponding due dates, referred to as a time-cost tradeoff problem. The project consists of two independent subprojects of which precedence graph is a chain. The due dates of jobs constituting the project can be interpreted as the multiple assessments in the life of project. The penalty cost occurs from the tardiness of the job, while it may be avoided through the compression of some jobs which requires an additional cost. The objective is to find the amount of compression that minimizes the total tardy penalty and compression costs. Firstly, we show that the problem can be decomposed into several subproblems whose number is bounded by the polynomial function in n, where n is the total number of jobs. Then, we prove that the problem can be solved in polynomial time by developing the efficient approach to obtain an optimal schedule for each subproblem.
