Construction projects are fraught with risks from cost or other overruns to accidents along with other issues. This is true whether the relevant organization is an owner, general contractor, CM, specialty-trade contractor, or other entity. When cost issues or other issues confront arise, how should an organization proceed whether attempting to gain additional compensation in terms of cost/other damages or protecting the same against such claims if they do not appear to be warranted? Enter construction cost forensics. This presentation will focus on strategies/techniques with construction cost forensics in these areas in order to be successful. Covered techniques include those to develop and analyze claims including fundamental construction cost analysis techniques. When an unexpected event disrupts a construction project, using sound analytical methods to identify the cause and quantify the extent of the issue will be important for negotiating a fair result or for obtaining a successful outcome in arbitration or litigation. Key examples of uncovering issues via construction cost forensics will be covered in this presentation.

Cyberbullying has become a severe issue and brought a powerful impact on the cyber world. Due to the low cost and fast spreading of news, social media has become a tool that helps spread insult, offensive, and hate messages or opinions in a community. Detecting cyberbullying from social media is an intriguing research topic because it is vital for law enforcement agencies to witness how social media broadcast hate messages. Twitter is one of the famous social media and a platform for users to tell stories, give views, express feelings, and even spread news, whether true or false. Hence, it becomes an excellent resource for sentiment analysis. This paper aims to detect cyberbully threats based on Naïve Bayes, support vector machine (SVM), and k-nearest neighbour (k-NN) classifier model. Sentiment analysis will be applied based on people's opinions on social media and distribute polarity to them as positive, neutral, or negative. The accuracy for each classifier will be evaluated.

The limited computing power of sensor nodes in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) and data tampering during wireless transmission are two important issues. In this paper, we propose a scheme for independent individual authentication of WSNs data based on digital watermarking technology. Digital watermarking suits well for WSNs, owing to its lower computational cost. The proposed scheme uses independent individual to generate a digital watermark and embeds the watermark in current data item. Moreover, a sink node extracts the watermark in single data and compares it with the generated watermark, thereby achieving integrity verification of data. Inherently, individual validation differs from the grouping-level validation, and avoids the lack of grouping robustness. The improved performance of individual integrity verification based on proposed scheme is validated through experimental analysis. Lastly, compared to other state-of-the-art schemes, our proposed scheme significantly reduces the false negative rate by an average of 5%, the false positive rate by an average of 80% of data verification, and increases the correct verification rate by 50% on average.

A random chat application is a type of social dating application that helps people find a lover or spouse by randomly connecting and providing services such as text, voice and video chat. Recently, there has been globally a rapid increase in its use due to the fact that it provides people to quick and convenient encounters at low cost. However, it is used as one of method to prostitute or to trade drugs and become a cause of violent crimes due to various criminal occurring after actual meeting between app users. For this reason, a random chat application is likely to provide proof of prostitution or drug trade and clues to arrest rape, kidnapping and murder suspects. Thus, it is necessary to analyse random chat applications from the viewpoint of digital forensics investigation, but there is no related research at all. Therefore, in this paper, we analyzed artifacts of 6 Korea random chat application's user behaviors; Ranchat, AngTalk, SsumgThing, DaTalk, EveryTalk and Sail. As a result, we found that it is remain on mobile device that time and contents of message transmission/reception, sender/receiver, friend profile and user account creation time when user is using the applications.

Image tampering detection and localization have become an active area of research in the field of digital image forensics in recent times. This is due to the widespread of malicious image tampering. This study presents a new method for image tampering detection and localization that combines the advantages of dilated convolution, residual network, and UNET Architecture. Using the UNET architecture as a backbone, we built the proposed network from two kinds of residual units, one for the encoder path and the other for the decoder path. The residual units help to speed up the training process and facilitate information propagation between the lower layers and the higher layers which are often difficult to train. To capture global image tampering artifacts and reduce the computational burden of the proposed method, we enlarge the receptive field size of the convolutional kernels by adopting dilated convolutions in the residual units used in building the proposed network. In contrast to existing deep learning methods, having a large number of layers, many network parameters, and often difficult to train, the proposed method can achieve excellent performance with a fewer number of parameters and less computational cost. To test the performance of the proposed method, we evaluate its performance in the context of four benchmark image forensics datasets. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms existing methods and could be potentially used to enhance image tampering detection and localization.

Due to the long training time and high training cost of traditional surgical training methods, the emerging virtual surgical training method has gradually replaced it as the mainstream. However, the virtual surgical system suffers from poor authenticity and high computational cost problems. For overcoming the deficiency of these problems, we propose an optimized model for the local compression deformation of soft tissue. This model uses a simulated annealing algorithm to optimize the parameters of the soft tissue model to improve the authenticity of the simulation. Meanwhile, although the soft tissue deformation is divided into local deformation region and non-deformation region, our proposed model only needs to calculate and update the deformation region, which can improve the simulation real-time performance. Besides, we define a compensation strategy for the "superelastic" effect which often occurs with the mass-spring model. To verify the validity of the model, we carry out a compression simulation experiment of abdomen and human foot and compare it with other models. The experimental results indicate the proposed model is realistic and effective in soft tissue compression simulation, and it outperforms other models in accuracy and real-time performance.

Recently, cloud computing is one of the parts showing the biggest growth in the IT market and is expected to continue to grow into. Especially, many companies are adopting virtual desktop infrastructure as private cloud computing to achieve in saving the cost and enhancing the efficiency of the servers. However, current digital forensic investigation methodology of cloud computing is not systematized scientifically and technically. To do this, depending on the type of each cloud computing services, digital evidence collection system for the legal enforcement should be established. In this paper, we focus on virtual desktop infrastructure as private cloud computing and introduce the most widely used around the world desktop virtualization solutions of VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft. And We propose digital forensic investigation methodology for private cloud computing that is constructed by these solutions.

Virtualization is a technology that uses a logical environment to overcome physical limitations in hardware. As a part of cost savings and green IT policies, there is a tendency in which recent businesses increase the adoption of such virtualization. In particular, regarding the virtualization in desktop, it is one of the most widely used technology at the present time. Because it is able to efficiently use various types of operating systems in a physical computer. A virtual machine image that is a key component of virtualization is difficult to investigate. because the structure of virtual machine image is different from hard disk image. Therefore, we need researches about appropriate investigation procedure and method based on technical understanding of a virtual machine. In this research, we suggest a procedure of investigation on a virtual machine image and a method for a corrupted image of the VMware Workstation that has the largest number of users.
