The physicochemical and sensory properties of herb samgyetang, ginseng chicken soup added with medicinal herbs were investigated to determine the optimum addition level of medicinal herbs. The pH of herb samgyetang decreased with increasing addition level of the Acorus gramineus addition level, and the soluble solid content increased as the Codonopsis lanceolata addition level increased. The herb samgyetang with the highest Codonopsis lanceolata addition level had the lowest $L^*$ and $b^*$ value. In contrast, the $a^*$ value increased with increasing Codonopsis lanceolata addition level. In sensory evaluation, the highest color, taste, and overall acceptability scores were obtained by the herb samgyetang with the highest Codonopsis lanceolata addition level. In conclusion, the optimum addition levels of medicinal herbs for herb Samgyetang are as follows: Platycodon grandiflorum 4 g, Acorus gramineus 4 g, Codonopsis lanceolata 12 g, Schizandra chinensis 6 g, Atractylodeslancea 4 g, Glycyrrhiza uralensis 4 g, and Zizyphus jujube 4 g.

To investigate the possible use of probiont in fish farming industry, a bacterium with inhibitory effect against Vibrio anguillarum was isolated from gastrointestinal tract of the marine fish of yellow tail. It was identified to be Bacillus amyloliquefaciens H41 based on biochemical and physiological characterization. The optimal growth conditions of the isolated strain were 1% peptone, 1.5% yeast extract, 1% sucrose, 0.5% NaCl, 0.05% $MgSO_4{\cdot}7H_20$, pH 7.0-8.0, and 20 hr of incubation between $28-35^{\circ}C$ under aeration. The culture supernatant of the isolated strain showed inhibition activity against V. anguillarum. Inhibition activity was cleared by forming a clear zone by a paper-disk method. The maximal production of growth inhibition factor was induced by cultivation under 1% peptone, 1.5% yeast extract, 1% sucrose, 1% NaCl, 0.05% $MgSO_4{\cdot}7H_20$, pH 7.5 and at $35^{\circ}C$. The highest growth inhibition factor production was observed after 16-24 hr cultivation under aeration. The culture supernatant of the isolated strain showed inhibition activity whereas no inhibition activity was shown from the standard B. amyloliquefaciens KCTC 1724 strain. The growth inhibition affected only against V. anguillarum among other pathogenic Vibrios tested here.
The aim of the present study was to examine in detail, both at light and electron microscopical levels, the morphological variations in ameloblast of the fetal rat incisor enamel organ. Rats were started on distilled water at the beginning of pregnancy. The pups were sacrificed 11 days after delivery and animals were perfused intravascularly with glutaraldehyde and the incisors were removed. To examine on the ultrastructure of the ameloblast, the study employed primary light microscopy but electron microscopy was used to clarify some of the light microscopic finding. Longitudinal sections through the incisors of the rat show a continuous layer of ameloblasts on the labial surface of the tooth. This layer contains the entire sequence of developmental stages in enamel production. The ameloblast layer was divided into three main zones: 1) Presecretory zone, region of ameloblasts facing pulp. 2) Secretory zone, region of inner and outer enamel secretion. 3) Maturation zone, region of reduced ameloblasts. In particularly, the present study has shown that two distinctively different types of ameloblasts appear in the enamel organ during enamel maturation in the rat incisor. These two types have been designated ruffle-ended ameloblasts (rAB) and smooth-ended ameloblasts (sAB). The fluoride produces marked alteration in the fine structure of ameloblast from teeth of young rats, such as large confluent distensions of the endoplasmic reticulum and swelling of isolated mitochondria. This experimental data suggested that exposure prolonged of animal to high level of fluoride appears to induce a few dramatic changes in the normal appositional growth and initial mineralization of enamel created during amelogenesis.
This research investigated morphological changes of ovarian follicle according to dose of irradiation when adult mice were exposed to X-rays from 6 MeV LINAC. At day 3 after irradiation of 200 cGy, 400 cGy and 600 cGy X-ray to the hole body of mice, the ovaries collected and stained with TUNEL. The normal follicles and atretic follicles were identified to apoptosis by the staining with TUNEL. In the atretic follicles of the normal ovary, the apoptotic bodies were well appeared and stained brown color. Almost of the follicles following irradiation are stained with TUNEL, but the sensitivity of reaction is weaker than that in irradiation of 400 cGy and 600 cGy X-ray. The granulosa cells of the radiated normal follicle by 400 cGV are shown brown color. In this stage, the nucleus of granulosa cells in the atrectic follicles are condensed and picknotic feature. The size of the radiated follicle by 600 cGy are decreased than the normal follicles. The atropic follicles are filled with apoptotic bodies which change of granulosa cells and theca cells by influence of X-ray. All of cell in the follicles are strongly positive stained with TUNEL by irradiation of 600 cGy.

Chinese minnow, Rhynchocypris oxycephalus is a teleost belonging to Leuciscinae, Cyprinidae. The oogenesis and ultrastructure of egg envelope in Chinese minnow were investigated by light and electron microscopes. The ovary was of white yellowish and ellipsoidal shape with the major axis 30 mm and the minor axis 7mm. Cytoplasm of oogonia was basophilic and many nucleoli were located at inside of nuclear membrane. In primary oocytes, yolk vesicles were distributed only in the marginal area and egg envelope was not formed on the outside of an egg. In secondary oocytes, the egg envelope was formed and yolk vesicles in the cytoplasm were increased than the earlier stage. The basophilic substance of cytoplasm was changed to acidic. In case of matured egg, thickness of egg envelope and size of egg were increased. The yolk vesicles were changed to yolk mass in accordance with development. The outer surface of egg envelope was covered by microvilli-structures, and had a micropyle on the area of animal pole. Egg envelope consisted with 2 layers, an adhesive outer layer with microvilli-structures and fibrillar inner layer. In conclusion, the oogenesis of Chinese minnow was characterized by the increase in cell size, the formation and accumulation of yolk, and the decrease of basophilic substance in the cytoplasm. The oogenesis of Chinese minnow seems to share common patterns in Cyprinidae, but these ultrastructural unique characters of egg envelope can be utilized in taxonomy of teleost.
The ultrastructure of spermatogenesis and sperm in Cichlasoma managuensis belonging to Cichlidae was investigated by light and electron microscopes. The testis of C. managuensis contained numerous testicular cysts, and spermatogenesis was synchronized in these testicular cysts. In the case of spermatogonia, the nucleus was comparatively large ellipsoidal, and mitochondria showed a marked development. The size of primary spermatocyte was smaller than that of spermatogonia, and that of secondary spermatocyte was smaller than that of primary spermatocyte. The chromatin of spermatocyte was highly condensed according to their development. The nucleus with electron-dense was round shape. In spermiogenesis, flagella started to be formed and chromatin was more condensed. The mitochondria were rearranged in a middle piece. The sperm was formed by loss of cytoplasm. The head of mature sperm was a spherical shape and had not acrosome. The microtubules of flagella were arranged 9+2 structure. Also, the tail of sperm have lateral fins.

This study was conducted as descriptive research to examine the relations among beauty business workers' professional identity, emotional labor and depression, to analyze factors that influence their depression, and to provide basic information necessary to develop interventions for beauty business workers' depression. The subjects of this study were 158 beauty business workers sampled from 25 beauty shops in Seoul. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire during the period from April 12 to May 13, 2011. From the collected data were obtained real numbers, percentages, and the means and standard deviations of professional identity, emotional labor and depression using the SPSS 16.0 Program. In addition, multiple regression analysis was performed to determine the correlations among the variables and to identify factors influencing the beauty business workers' depression. In the results of multiple regression analysis on factors that influence the subjects' depression, factors found to explain their depression were autonomy among the sub factors of professional identity, and the diversity of emotional expressions and surface acting among the sub factors of emotional labor, and these factors explained 23.6% of their depression. The subjects' professional identity was in a positive correlation with the frequency of emotional expressions and deep acting among the sub factors of emotional labor, and in a negative correlation with surface acting and depression. The Frequency of emotional expression and the diversity of emotional expressions which the sub factors of emotional labor were in a negative correlation with depression and in a positive correlation with surface acting and depression. In order to relieve beauty business workers from their depression based on these results, there should be education or programs for establishing beauty business workers' professional identity and program for increasing of emotional expressions and decreasing of surface acting.

This thesis tried applying Ayurvedic hair and scalp care program and analyzing its effect. Ayurvedic treatment strengthens our immunity through natural healing power. I measured with MIC test and Halo test in order to examine the antibacterial efficacy against colonies which reside in head, when Ayurvedic base oils and essential oils were used on hair and scalp. Finally, I reached the results as follows. I examined the antibacterial efficacy of base oils and essential oils against Bacillus subtilis and Propionibacterium acnes, based on the MIC test with 9 kinds of base oil and 18 kinds of essential oil. By way of experiment, base oils did not show the antibacterial efficacy from all colonies, and in case of essential oils, such as Chamomile, Clary sage, Jasmine, Neroli and Rose oil, the antibacterial efficacy against two colonies did not appear by the measure of below 5%. It turned out that Thyme, Geranium, Lavender and Tea tree had an high effect on two colonies. According to the Halo test which experimented on 7 kinds of bacteria with the essential oils like Geranium, Lavender and Thyme and with the base oils like Sesame and Coconut, it went to prove that base oils was inefficient on antibiosis. It was examined that all of essential oils had the effect on antibiosis from 7 kinds of bacteria. Thyme showed the best efficacy of antibiosis in the MIC and the Halo test.

The purpose of this study was to find out the potential of the Mosidae(Adenophora remtriflora) leaf, one of the natural ingredients, for the cosmetics by measuring their antioxidant functions and skin improving effects. The result of the phytonutrient of the Mosidae leaf test shows, that the heat extract of Mosidae leaf DPPH has 9% higher ability than Ethanol extract.(p<0.05), but significant a difference was not found between the hydroxyl Radical of Mosidae leaf heat extract (65.22%) and Ethanol extract(63.50%). Mosidae leaf heat extract(40.82mg/mL) has much lower polyphenol compound than Ethanol extract(47.90mg/mL)(p<0.05). A clinical test of Mosidae leaf powder pack was performed for a group of 16 middle aged women(age between 35-60) from October 20 to November 17, 2011. Control group was used on the right cheek, and test group was used on left cheek for comparison. The procedure was twice a week for 4 weeks to identify and grade level of moisture, roughness, pore size and spot. After 4 weeks of testing, there were significant improvements in moisture enhancement and spot(p<0.05), subtle change in roughness and the size of the pores. Therefore, we confirmed skin improvement effect of Mosidae leaf as new cosmetic material.
The present study was performed to evaluate the anti-oxidant and anti-proliferating activity of the water extract mixture of Cordyceps militaris (CM) and Allium tuberosum (AT). The water extract mixture rate of CM and AT was optimized by means of a sensory evaluation test. The optimized mixture rate were decided at 70% of CM, 30% of AT, and 10% of apple concentrate as an additive. The values of total acidity, pH, sugar contents, and turbidity of the water extract mixture were 0.1%, 4.28, 9.10 °Brix, and 1.48 respectively. The water extract mixture had effective DPPH radical scavenging activity, reducing power effect, and ABTS radical activity. DPPH radical activities of the water extract and the water extract mixture were 43.2% and 51.7% respectively; their reducing power (OD700) was 1.14 and 1.43 respectively; and ABTS.+ radical activities were 47.1% and 62.2% respectively. Also, the water extract mixture showed a higher anti-proliferating effect than the AT extract on human prostate cancer cells. These results provided experimental evidence that the water extract mixture of CM and AT is a better source of anti-oxidant and anti-cancer ingredients than a single extract of CM. In conclusion, the water extract mixture of CM and AT will be beneficial in development of a functional drink.
