In this study, in order to fabricate sintered dental implant, the effects of HA, Ti and TiN on corrosion and biocompatibility, cell toxicity, osseointegration of electroless Cu-plated and sintered stainless steel implant were investigated using various characteristics. The effects of Ti/TiN/HA coating on the interface activation and surface characteristics of sintered stainless steels(SSS) by electron-beam physical vapor deposition(EB-PVD) method have been studied. Stainless steel compacts containing 2, 4, and 10 wt%Cu were prepared by electroless Cu-plating method which results in the increased homogenization in alloying powder. The specimens were coated with HA, Ti and TiN with few $\mu\textrm{m}$ thickness respectively by EB-PVD method. The microstructures and phase analysis were conducted by using SEM. Biocompatibility were investigated in experimental dog. The corrosion behaviors were investigated using potentiosat in 0.9% NaCl solution and corrosion surface was observed using SEM and XPS.
The aim of this paper is to investigate the characteristics of electrochemical corrosion with the plasma ion nitriding temperature for 16Cr-10Ni-2Mo stainless steel. The corrosion behavior was analyzed by means of galvanostatic experiment in natural seawater that applied various current density with plasma ion nitriding temperature parameters. In result of galvanostatic experiment, relatively less surface damage morphology and the less damage depth was observed at a nitrided temperature of $450^{\circ}C$ that measured the thickest nitrided layer(S-phase). On the other hand, the most damage depth and unified corrosion behavior presented at a temperature of $500^{\circ}C$.
In this paper, various electrochemical experiments were conducted in seawater solution to evaluate corrosion damage behavior of arc thermal sprayed Inconel 625 coating on SS400 steel in marine environment. As a result, corrosion damages of thermal sprayed Inconel 625 coating preferentially occurred at the defect area, and they were observed as a form of pitting corrosion in the galvanostatic experiments. In Tafel analysis, corrosion current density of Inconel 625 coating was relatively high due to influence of interconnected pores and Cr oxides in the thermal spray coating layer. On the other hand, the result of the potential measurement, thermal sprayed Inconel 625 coating should need the post-treatment which can compensate the defects like pores and cracks because Inconel 625 coating presented a higher potential of about 290 mV than that of the SS400 steel.
This paper was studied on the characteristics of crevice corrosion prevention of SS 400 in marine environment. In NaCl solution, polarization behavior under the crevice corrosion was investigated. And Weight loss rate of SS 400 applied cathodic protection and non cathodic protection was measured according to the NaCl concentration. The main results obtained are as follows : The weight loss rate of Al-alloy galvanic anode was increased as the concentration of NaCl solution increased by 3.5% but the concentration increased over 3.5%, that of Al-alloy galvanic anode become decreased. The protective potential of SS 400 used Al-alloy galvanic anode becomes more cathodic polarization with increasing concentration of NaCl solution. Effects of oxygen on the weight loss rate of Al-alloy sacrificial anode for cathodic protection as the concentration of 3.5% NaCl solution become sensitive than that of 0% NaCl solution.
We examined the effects of alloying elements such as Fe, Ga, In, Sn, Mg, and Mn on the electrochemical characteristics of Al-based alloys for Al-air batteries by potentiodynamic polarization tests and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The corrosion potential of an Al anode was lowered by the addition of Ga and Sn, resulting in an increase in the cell voltage compared with a pure Al electrode. Fe was not beneficial to improve the electrochemical properties of the Al anode in that it caused a decrease in the cell voltage and reduced corrosion rate slightly. In, Mn, Sn, and Mg decreased the corrosion rate of the Al alloys, while Ga enhanced corrosion significantly and accelerated consumption of the anode.
Reinforced concrete structures have found wide usage in land and maritime applications. However, the corrosion of reinforced concrete has been recognized as a serious problem from economic and safety standpoints. In previous studies, the corrosion behavior of the inner steel bar embedded in mortar (W/C: 0.4, 0.5) was investigated using electrochemical methods. In this study, multiple mortar test specimens (W/C: 0.6) with six different cover thicknesses were prepared and immersed in flowing seawater for five years. Subsequently, equations related to the cover thickness, period of immersion, and corrosion characteristics of the embedded steel bar were evaluated using electrochemical methods. Prior to immersion, the corrosion potentials indicated an increase with increasing cover thickness, and after five years, all corrosion potentials demonstrated a trend in the positive direction irrespective of the cover thickness. However, the relationships between the corrosion potential and cover thickness were not in complete agreement. Furthermore, after five years, all of the corrosion potentials indicated values that were nobler compared to those obtained prior to immersion, and their corrosion current densities also decreased compared to their values obtained prior to immersion. It was considered that the embedded steel bar was easily corroded because of the aggression of water, dissolved oxygen, and chloride ions; a higher W/C ratio also assisted the corrosion process. The corrosive products deposited on the surface of the steel bar for five years cast a resistance polarizing effect shifting the corrosion potential in the nobler direction. Consequently, it was considered that the W/C ratio of 0.6 showed nearly same results as those of W/C of 0.4 and 0.5. Therefore, the corrosion potential as well as various parameters such as the cover thickness, period of immersion, and W/C ratio must be considered at once for a more accurate evaluation of the corrosion property of reinforced steel exposed to marine environment for a long period.
This paper was studied on the wear-corrosion behavior of ductile cast iron in the acidic environment. In the dry atmosphere and variety of pH solution, wear-corrosion characteristics and friction coefficient of GCD 60 with various sliding speed and distance were investigated. And electrochemical polarization test of GCD 60 was examined in the environment of various pH value. The main results are as following : In the dry atmosphere, boundary friction appears below nearly 5 $kg_{f}$ of contact load, and it is considered that solid friction occurs over nearly 5 $kg_{f}$ of contact load. As pH value becomes low, wear-corrosion loss in the aqueous solution increases. As the corrosion environment is acidified, corrosion potential of GCD 60 becomes noble, polarization resistance becomes low, and corrosion current density increases.
The structure such as building and cultural properties was composed of various materials like wood, metal and stone that have been utilized and exposed to air, wind and rain far a long time. However, because of their special characteristics as structure, collecting of samples that may involve their destruction cannot be permitted, ever for material analysis. Therefore, h order to study the Influence of atmospheric pollution on structure, atmospheric corrosion tests were achieved by making use of materials(bronze. ancient copper, copper, steel and marble) in field exposure tests. Atmospheric exposure sites are selected from places which are characterized by urban, rural, Industrial and marine enoronments In Northeast Asia. According to the results of atmospheric corrosion tests: The corrosion rates of Industrial states In china were more serious than other sampling sites. In the correlation of meteorological factors. wet hours was defiled as Intogeacted hours under that atmospheric temperature is above $0^{\circ}C$ and relative humidity in above 80% that has a great influence on corrosion tests of materials in case of a short time. The relative humidity was above about 75% that resulted in great increase of corrosion rates. In the esimation of corrosion rates between materials, corrosion rates of steel was about thirty times and decuple larger than that of other materials excluding marble in unshelterd exposure and In sheltered exposure.
One of the useful technology for light-weightening of components required in the automobile and machine industry is to use of high strength materials. To improve material properties, carbonizing treatment, nitrifying treatment, and shot-peening method are representatively applied, However, the shot-peening method is generally used to remove the surface defect of steel and to improve the fatigue strength on surface. Benefits by shot peening are to make increase resistance against fatigue, stress corrosion cracking, fretting, galling, erosion and closing of pores. In this paper, investigated the effect of shot peening on the corrosion of SUP-9 steel immersed in $3.5\%$ NaCl solution and corrosion characteristics by the heat treatment during shot peening process. The immersion test was performed on the four kinds of specimens. Corrosion potential, polarization curve, residual stress and etc. were investigated from the experimental results.
