This paper introduces a method that can detect obstacles and corridor environments from the images captured by a CCD camera in an automobile or mobile robot is proposed. Processing the input dynamic images in real time requires high performance hardware as well as efficient software. In order to relieve these requirements for detecting the useful information from the images in real time, a "Moving Window" scheme is proposed. Therefore, detecting the useful information, it becomes possible to search the obstacles within the driving corridor of an automobile or mobile robot. The feasibility of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated through the simulated experiments of the corridor driving.
In this paper, the wall following navigation algorithm of the mobile robot using a mono vision system is described. The key points of the mobile robot navigation system are effective acquisition of the environmental information and fast recognition of the robot position. Also, from this information, the mobile robot should be appropriately controlled to follow a desired path. For the recognition of the relative position and orientation of the robot to the wall, the features of the corridor structure are extracted using the mono vision system, then the relative position, the offset distance and steering angle of the robot from the wall, is derived for a simple corridor geometry. For the alleviation of the computation burden of the image processing, the Kalman filter is used to reduce search region in the image space for line detection. Next, the robot is controlled by this information to follow the desired path. The wall following control scheme by the PD control scheme is composed of two control parts, the approaching control and the orientation control, and each control is performed by steering and forward-driving motion of the robot. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, the real time navigation experiments are performed. Through the result of the experiments, the effectiveness and flexibility of the suggested algorithm are verified in comparison with a pure encoder-guided mobile robot navigation system.
This paper aims to investigate the navigation control of a mobile robot in a confined environment. Steering angle becomes control variable which is computed from the fuzzy control rules. The identification method proposed in this paper presents the fuzzy control rules obtained through modelling of. the driving actions of human operator. The feasibility of the proposed method is evaluated through the application of the identified fuzzy controls rules to the navigation control of a mobile robot which follows the center of a corridor.
This paper describes a vision-based line recognition and control of driving direction for an AGV(autonomous guided vehicle). As navigation guide, black stripe attached on the corridor is used. Binary image of guide stripe captured by a CCD camera is used. For detect the guideline quickly and extractly, we use for variable thresholding algorithm. this low-cost line-tracking system is efficiently using pc-based real time vision processing. steering control is studied through controller with guide-line angle error. This method is tested via a typical agv with a single camera in laboratory environment.
The purpose of this study is to understand the physical accessibility of the child care centers for disabled children in Japan. Fifteen centers located in Tokyo, Japan were surveyed through sketching, measuring, taking pictures, and observation. To understand the user's needs. the directors of the centers were interviewed. As a result, the followings suggestions were proposed. First, when the entrance of the center is close to the road, careful design for the entrance area is required to secure the safety of children using wheelchairs. If possible, a fence or door between the corridor and entrance is necessary. Second, most aspects of accessibility are pretty well designed. But a canopy over the entrance area is required to escape the rain. Third, a wider corridor space is desirable for storing and driving wheelchairs and for special equipment for the disabled. Forth, because the emergency exits were installed but not used, the new and safer emergency exits should be installed. These results will be a good case reference for developing Korean design guidelines for the children with disabilities.
The Pasadena Freeway follows the Arroyo Seco through foothills and scenic passes to link Downtown Los Angeles with Pasadena. The approximately 10 mile road was the first freeway built in the West during the 1930's and is today designated as a Historic Parkway. As it approaches Pasadena, it terminates at a traffic light intersection at Glenarm Street, and then becomes a commercial road the Arroyo Parkway. This one and a quarter mile long, north south road moves significant volumes of traffic both into and out of Pasadena. The Arroyo Parkway is thus a major 'gateway' and an important axis of orientation and movement, terminating in the City's core civic, commercial and retail district. Planting, lighting, signage, paving, furnishing and fixtures ought to all be properly designed and coordinated to create a distinctive 'gateway' experience arriving to Pasadena and driving along the Arroyo Parkway. Alternate design studies, developed in discussion with City officials and others involved in the redevelopment of the area, would need to be done to properly decide on the best direction. Issues of heritage and traditional streetscape will likely have to be reconciled with both the reality of the vehicular character of the road and more contemporary themes. Obviously with such large parcels of property available in the Arroyo Fair Oaks corridor, there is a huge potential for redevelopment and building. This potential would only be strengthened by the Light Rail Line and its stations, the improvements to the Arroyo Parkway, and the redevelopment of the Arts Center College of Design. Guides and controls to the development process, including programming and physical design studies, would need to be developed in order to ensure that the maximum potential for the corridor be realized. This concept proposal suggests that the whole strip might be developed as a Arts and Technology corridor, with special emphases on education, public culture, media and lifestyle. The full programming possibilities need to be further developed. Additionally, appropriate urban design guidelines to ensure high quality development also need to be incorporated into an overall development plan.
일반적으로 자율주행 차량은 측위를 위하여 GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System)에서 절대위치 신호를 수신하여 지도에 매칭하는 방식을 사용한다.
