  • Output-only modal parameter identification is based on the assumption that external forces on a linear structure are white noise. However, harmonic excitations are also often present in real structural vibrations. In particular, it has been realized that the use of forced acceleration responses without knowledge of external forces can pose a problem in the modal parameter identification, because an external force is imparted to its impulse acceleration response function. This paper provides a three-stage identification procedure as a solution to the problem of harmonic and white noise excitations in the acceleration responses of a linear dynamic system. This procedure combines the uses of the mode indicator function, the complex mode indication function, the enhanced frequency response function, an iterative rational fraction polynomial method and mode shape inspection for the correlation-related functions of the force-embedded acceleration responses. The procedure is verified via numerical simulation of a five-floor shear building and a two-dimensional frame and also applied to ambient vibration data of a large-span roof structure. Results show that the modal parameters of these dynamic systems can be satisfactorily identified under the requirement of wide separation between vibration modes and harmonic excitations.

  • Object : The purpose of this study is to observe the correlation between change in pattern identification symptoms and scandinavian stroke scale in ischemic stroke patient who had receive traditional Korean medical treatment and conservative treatment. Methods : 43 subjects were recruited from patients with ischemic stroke within 30 days of onset. We chose the subjects who had at least one follow up session and had checked the score between last follow up session and first session in pattern identification and scandinavian stroke scale. We also assessed the correlation between pattern identification and scandinavian stroke scale. Results : There were significant negative correlation between pattern identification and scandinavian stroke scale in Fire-heat pattern and positive correlation in Dampness-phlegm pattern. Conclusions : This study provides evidence that collaborative treatment maybe effective in improving neurologic symptoms in ischemic stroke patients diagnosed as Fire-heat pattern. Further studies with larger scale and longer observation period, more neurologicscales scales, control group would be required.

  • Objectives: The study aimed to test the validity and reliability of the questionnaire for cold-heat & deficiency-excess pattern identification of dementia and establish a new version of the questionnaire. Methods: Mean, standard deviation, skewness, internal consistency, correlation and t-test of the 26 items derived from previous study was analyzed in 20 dementia patients. The items with Cronbach-${\alpha}$ coefficient below 0.7 were modified. Thus, we established a new version of the questionnaire consisting of 20 items. Results: Cronbach-${\alpha}$ of each cold, heat, deficiency and excess questionnaire was 0.662, -0.229, 0.722 and 0.778, respectively. The correlation coefficient between cold, heat, deficiency and excess was less than 0.4 and correlation coefficient between dementia and cold, deficiency was 0.518. On t-test, the t-value of cold, deficiency and dementia was -2.196. Conclusions: The results indicated that cold-heat, deficiency-excess questionnaires showed satisfactory discriminant validity. In addition, there was correlation between dementia and cold, deficiency. Finally, we established a new version of the questionnaire for cold-heat, deficiency-excess pattern identification that consisted of 20 items.

  • This study intended to find out the most substantial items in cold and heat pattern identification(CHPI) questionnaire based on usual symptoms through CHPI diagnosis and evaluation by experts. 120 participants, faculties of OO university, filled out CHPI questionnaire based on usual symptoms by the way of self-reporting. Then 2 Korean Medicine doctors independently diagnosed them whether they belonged to cold pattern identification(PI) or heat PI, and scored the result of it. Pearson correlation of 2 experts was 0.649 in cold PI and 0.605 in heat PI. Agreement was 75.8%(Kappa value 0.516) in cold PI and 74.2%(Kappa value 0.465) in heat PI. Pearson correlation of 2 experts was 0.649 in cold PI and 0.605 in heat PI. Agreement between two experts was 75.8%(Kappa value 0.516) in cold PI and 74.2%(Kappa value 0.465) in heat PI. Items of high correlation with experts' evaluation followed next: "do not usually like the cold", "usually like the warm", "usually feel cold" in cold PI and "do not usually like the hot", "usually feel hot", "usually feel burning sensation in the body" in heat PI. We could infer from that facts that experts give weight on 'subjective feeling of cold or heat in participants body' and 'preference on sensation of cold and heat'. We also expect this study to be an epidemiological foundation to disclose correlation between usual CHPI and diseases.

  • In the gas supply duct, the gas leakage caused by the impact of the construct equipment is serious problem. The identification of the impact position is an important issue and an engineering work. For the basic research of this problem, the principle studies for the acoustic wave propagation in a gas duct are proceeded in this paper. This principal work is based on the identification of the cut-off frequency associated with major modes of the gas duct theoretically and experimentally. The cut-off frequency is confirmed by STFT and cross-correlation function is used to identify the leakage position.

  • Van de Vusse reactor is known as a highly nonlinear chemical process and has been considered by a number of researchers as a benchmark problem for nonlinear chemical process. Various identification methods for nonlinear system are also verified by applying these methods to Van de Vusse reactor. From the point of view of identification, only the Volterra kernel of second order has been obtained until now. In this paper, the authors show that Volterra kernels of nonlinear Van de Vusse reactor of up to 3rd order are obtained by use of M-sequence correlation method. A pseudo-random M-sequence is applied to Van de Vusse reactor as an input and its output is measured. Taking the cross correlation function between the input and the output, we obtain up to 3rd order Volterra kernels, which is ...

  • In this paper, we investigate the feasibility of a strategy of failure detection and identification. The point of proposed strategy includes a pattern extraction approach for failure identification using Auto-Associative Kernel Regression (AAKR). We consider a simulation data concerning 605 signals of a Generic Pressurized Water Reactor(GPWR). In the application, the reconstructions are provided by a set of AAKR models, whose input signals have been selected by Correlation Analysis(CA) for the identification of the groups. The failure pattern is extracted by analyzing the residuals of observations and reconstructions. We present the possibility of extraction of patterns for six failure.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to understand the attitudes to internal service quality between coworkers, service quality to patients, job satisfaction, organizational identification and job identification of physical therapists in medical organizations. Methods : Data were collected from physical therapists working in medical organizations. 195 questionnaires were analyzed. Participants' total mean, group mean by age, sex, career and type of medical organization and the variables' correlations were examined. Results : The attitudes of physical therapists to five variables were very positive. Especially job identification was strong. The significant differences between groups were found in some variables. All variables except age and career were positively related to each other. The correlation between age and career was very high. Age and career were related to some of variables. Conclusion : To improve organizational performances it should be a top priority to understand the attitudes of physical therapists in organizations.
