The objects of this study are to induce the experimental equation suitable to estimate the height growing process, and to get some information that could be to reduce the error percent on determining the site index. The height growing process per sample plot were made up from the height age curve getted through the stem-analysis of the dominant tree. The 11 equations were calculated in the functional formulas between the age and the dominant height of Alnus hirsuta, Larix leptolepsis, L. Gmelini, P. koraiensis, Abies holophylla, P. rigida, Q. acutissima and Q. aliena. The suitable equation for estimating the guide curve were selected with the highest correlation and the low standard error with comparision on the age-height distributed map as Fig. 2. The suitable equation is different between the species as their calculated results as follows; The growing process of tree height are occasionally found to be polymorphous in the growth pattern as Fig. 3. By this result, the site index are practically found to be always not constant but shows variation to age in same plot as example 5. So, that the site index are estimated from the height-growth curve to age drawing by the stem-analysis or the polymorphic-curve, are concluded to be suitable on the study of site evaluation.

The second-generation magnetic abrasive polishing is one of the nontraditional machining technologies newly developed. Because of the flexibility effect in magnetic abrasive polishing, the precise and mirror like surface can be obtained during this process. In this study, magnetic abrasive polishing process was applied in small grooved surface. As a result, it was seen that the flexible magnetic abrasive tool was effective to remove burrs on the edge of the groove. However, the efficiency of magnetic abrasive polishing at the slot was very low according to increasing depth and width of slot. So, correlation between geometric parameters, such as the depth and width, and surface roughness was evaluated and the minimum width for suitable polishing was found by experimental results.
In Total Water Pollutant Load Management System of Korea, unit load approach based on land register data is currently used for the estimation of non-point pollutant load. However, a problem raised that land register data could not always reflect the actual land surface coverages which determine runoff characteristics of non-point pollution sources. As a way to overcome this, we tried to establish quantitative relationships between the aerial images (0.4m resolution) which reflect actual land surface coverages and the land registration maps according to the 19 major designated land-use categories in Kyeongan watershed. Analyses showed different relationships according to the land-use categories. Only a few land-use categories including forestry, road and river showed essentially identical and some categories such as orchard, parking lot and sport utility site showed no relationships at all between image data and land register data. Except for the two cases, all the other categories showed statistically significant linear relationships between image data and land register data. The analyses indicate that using high resolution aerial maps is a better way to estimate non-point pollutant load. If the aerial maps are not available, application of the linear relationships as conversion factors of land register data to image data could be an possible option to estimate non-point pollutant loads for the specific land-use categories in Kyeongan watershed.

Objectives: The purpose of the study is to investigate the influencing factors of community scaling rate using community health survey data. Methods: The data were extracted from 2013 Community Health Survey, Ministry of education, Korea Dental Association, Statistics Korea, Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, and Ministry of the Interior. The resource factors of independent variables were analysed by Geographical Information System(GIS) using Map Wizard for Excel 17.0. The data were analyzed by descriptive analysis, pearson correlation and multiple linear regression analysis(p<0.05). Results: Seocho-gu in Seoul had the highest annual scaling rate(55.5%) and Goheung-gun had the lowest rate(11%) showing 44.5 percent gap. The influencing factors of scaling included the number of dental hygienists(r=0.316), dentists(r=0.332), dental hospitals(r=0.470), high school graduation rate(r=0.757) and equivalence scales household income(r=0.764)(p<0.05). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that community scaling rate was closely associated with community education level and monthly income(p<0.05). Conclusions: Community scaling rate was closely related to the community education and income level. It is necessary to provide the equal distribution of the oral health service to the community society.
This study examined the levels of risk perception of food risk elements by adopting a psychometric paradigm and analyzed factors affecting concerns about food risk elements to obtain basic materials for food safety policy. The data were collected from 296 housewives in Daegu, Korea, by a self-administered questionnaire. Frequency distributions, Pearson's correlation coefficient analysis, factor analysis, Cronbach's ${alpha}$, and multiple regression analyses were conducted by SPSS 21.0. The mean level of concern for food safety was 3.75/5.00 points, and the mean percentage of correct answers about heavy metal contamination was highest among food risk elements. The respondents perceived radioactive contaminated foods, GM foods, and endocrine disruptors as a new, delayed, scientifically unknown, involuntary, serious, and uncontrollable risk in risk perception. According to the result of factor analysis for risk perception, two factors such as non-controllability and dread were categorized. In the risk perception map, radioactive contaminated foods and GM foods were considered as an uncontrollable and dreaded risk, heavy metal contamination, endocrine disruptors, and pesticide residues as a controllable and dreaded risk, and foodborne illness and food additives as a controllable and less dreaded risk. On the other hand, the levels of concerns about food risk elements were higher in order of radioactive contaminated foods, GM foods, and endocrine disruptors. The results of multiple regression analysis showed that age, concern for food safety, percentage of correct answers about food risk elements, non-controllability, and dread influenced the concerns about food risk elements. These results imply that food safety policies should consider differences in consumer's risk perception of food risk elements.

In this paper, we propose a novel approach to improve the performance of minima controlled recursive averaging (MCRA) which is based on the second-order conditional maximum a posteriori (CMAP). From an investigation of the MCRA scheme, it is discovered that the MCRA method cannot take full consideration of the inter-frame correlation of voice activity since the noise power estimate is adjusted by the speech presence probability depending on an observation of the current frame. To avoid this phenomenon, the proposed MCRA approach incorporates the second-order CMAP criterion in which the noise power estimate is obtained using the speech presence probability conditioned on both the current observation and the speech activity decisions in the previous two frames. Experimental results show that the proposed MCRA technique based on second-order conditional MAP yields better results compared to the conventional MCRA method.
For maintaining adequate psychometric properties when reducing the number of items from an instrument, item level psychometrics is crucial. Strategies such as low item correlation or factor loadings, using classical test theory, have traditionally been advocated. The purpose of this study is to describe the development of a new short form assessing the impact of low back pain on physical activity. Rasch measurement model has been applied to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health Activity Measure (ICF-AM). One hundred and one individuals with low back pain aged 19-89 years (mean age: $48.1{\pm}17.3$) who live in the community were participated in the study. Twenty-seven items of lifting/carrying construct of the ICF-AM were analyzed. Ten items were selected from the construct to create a short form. Item elimination criteria include: 1) high or low mean square (out of the range: .6-1.4 for the fit statistics), 2) similar item calibrations to adjacent items, 3) person separation value, and item-person map for potential gap in person ability continuum. All 10 items of the short form fit to the Rasch model except one item (i.e., carrying toddler on back). Despite its high infit and outfit statistics (1.90/2.17), the item had to be reinstated due to potential gaps at the upper extreme of person ability level. The short form had a slightly better spread of person ability continuum compared to the entire set of item. The created short form separated individuals with low back pain into nearly 4 groups, while the entire set of items separated the individuals into 6 groups. The findings prompted multidimensional models for better explanation of the lifting/carrying domain. The item level psychometrics based on the Rasch model can be useful in developing short forms with rationally retained items.
We present our observational results of BL Lacertae(2200+420) obtained at 22, 43, 86, and 129 GHz simultaneously during 27 months(2013.Jan ~ 2015.Mar) which includes their two gamma-ray outbursts(2013.Oct & 2015.Mar) to study a connection between the gamma-ray outbursts and the radio activity. We mainly use a Korean VLBI monitoring program, IMOGABA(Interferometric Monitoring Of Gamma-ray Bright AGNs) which is a monthly monitoring program with the KVN(Korean VLBI Network). Overall, our KVN image shows two components in the map, a stationary core at the center and one moving jet component to the south, but almost core only at 86, 129 GHz. The location of the moving jet component in the maps depend on the frequencies that 22, 43, 86, and 129 GHz. We have checked light curves, spectral index, kinematics, and radio structure to find differences before and after the gamma-ray outbursts, but there was no significant correlation. We also have derived a decay time scale of ~9 months for the major radio outburst by applying an exponential decay fitting.
Ubiquitous Smart Space(USS) like u-City has been expected to create a high added value. However, developing USS has a high risk because it should use future technologies and development methodologies that have been never tried in the past. Hence, it has to be considered thoroughly in the very first stage of development. Moreover, USS usually uses several ubiquitous computing technologies combinationally because of the nature of USS. Despite of this, existing technology selection methodologies or technology evaluation methodologies only focus on a single technology. This leads us to develop a methodology of optimal technology combination for developing a specific USS. The purpose of this paper is to propose the methodology and to apply it to develop a real USS. We use portfolio theory and constraint satisfaction problem to determine an optimal technology combination. We also apply our methodology to the national ubiquitous computing project which carries out at present to validate it.
There are considerable interests in bat biology for investigating hibernation mechanism, in special regard to a hypothesis that the entry into hibernation is closely related with epileptic fit (petit mal) accompanying falling of body temperature, which is characterized by 3 spikes and wave/sec formation in electroencephalograph (EEG). This study was designed in order to examine physiological parameters (body temperature, heart rate, electroencephalograph and brain mapping) during normal patterns of the entry into hibernation and the hibernation period, and to observe effects of epileptogenic agents such as THC, Metrazol, and ILS on the physiological parameters. Based on the experimental results the entry into some hibernation seems to be related with epileptic fit, and therefore it is deduced that north temperate bats and the hamsters might be induced into hibernation by epileptogenic factors (pentylenetetrazol, THC and ILS etc) accompanying falling of body temperature and unique EEG and brain mapping.
