From an information security perspective, protecting sensitive data requires utilizing algorithms which resist theoretical attacks. However, treating an algorithm in a purely mathematical fashion or in other words abstracting away from its physical (hardware or software) implementation opens the door to various real-world security threats. In the modern age of electronics, cryptanalysis attempts to reveal secret information based on cryptosystem physical properties, rather than exploiting the theoretical weaknesses in the implemented cryptographic algorithm. The correlation power attack (CPA) is a Side-Channel Analysis attack used to reveal sensitive information based on the power leakages of a device. In this paper, we present a power Hacking technique to demonstrate how a power analysis can be exploited to reveal the secret information in AES crypto-core. In the proposed case study, we explain the main techniques that can break the security of the considered crypto-core by using CPA attack. Using two cryptographic devices, FPGA and 8051 microcontrollers, the experimental attack procedure shows that the AES hardware implementation has better resistance against power attack compared to the software one. On the other hand, we remark that the efficiency of CPA attack depends statistically on the implementation and the power model used for the power prediction.
As the number of internet-connected appliances and the variety of IoT services are rapidly increasing, it is hard to protect IT assets with traditional network security techniques. Most traditional network log analysis systems use rule based mechanisms to reduce the raw logs. But using predefined rules can't detect new attack patterns. So, there is a need for a mechanism to reduce congested raw logs and detect new attack patterns. This paper suggests enterprise security management for IoT services using graph and network measures. We model an event network based on a graph of interconnected logs between network devices and IoT gateways. And we suggest a network clustering algorithm that estimates the attack probability of log clusters and detects new attack patterns.

In this paper, we propose a fast correlation attack on the shrinking and self-shrinking generator. This attack is an improved algorithm or the fast correlation attack by Zhang et al. at CT-RSA 2005. For the shrinking generator, we recover the initial state of generating LFSR whose length is 61 with $2^{15.43}$ keystream bits, the computational complexity of $2^{56.3314}$ and success probability 99.9%. We also recover the initial state of generating LFSR whose length is $2^{40}$ of the self-shrinking generator with $2^{45.89}$ keystream bits, the computational complexity of $2^{112.424}$ and success probability 99.9%.
In proportion to the rapid increase in the number of Web users, web attack techniques are also getting more sophisticated. Therefore, we need not only to detect Web attack based on the log analysis but also to extract web attack events from audit information such as Web firewall, Web IDS and system logs for detecting abnormal Web behaviors. In this paper, web attack detection system was designed and implemented based on integrated web audit data for detecting diverse web attack by generating integrated log information generated from W3C form of IIS log and web firewall/IDS log. The proposed system analyzes multiple web sessions and determines its correlation between the sessions and web attack efficiently. Therefore, proposed system has advantages on extracting the latest web attack events efficiently by designing and implementing the multiple web session and log correlation analysis actively.
Network security visualization technique using security alerts provide the administrator with intuitive network security situation by efficiently visualizing a large number of security alerts occurring from the security devices. However, most of these visualization techniques represent events using overlap the timelines of the alerts or Top-N analysis by their frequencies resulting in failing to provide information such as the attack trend, the relationship between attacks, the point of occurrence of attack, and the continuity of the attack. In this paper, we propose an effective visualization technique which intuitively explains the transition of the whole attack and the continuity of individual attacks by arranging the events spirally according to timeline and marking occurrence point and attack type. Furthermore, the relationship between attackers and victims is provided through a single screen view, so that it is possible to comprehensively monitor not only the entire attack situation but also attack type and attack point.

Correlation power analysis attack takes place at the point of operating a known value and a hidden value from a master key as an input. The hidden value can be found by analyzing a correlation between the result value and the measured power signal during the operation, witch makes it possible to estimate the master key from the hidden value. However, the correlation power analysis attack can be very difficult by changing the conditions that make the power analysis possible, when the known value and the operation is hidden, when it is impossible to estimate the master key from the hidden value, or when the correlation between the result value and the power signal is considerably lowered. Therefore this study proposes a software countermeasure using a secrete intermediate key to witch these conditions are applied.
Recently, a pixel-chaotic-shuffling (PCS) method has been proposed by Huang et al. for encrypting color images using multiple chaotic systems like the Henon, the Lorenz, the Chua, and the Rossler systems. All of which have great encryption performance. The authors claimed that their pixel-chaotic-shuffle (PCS) encryption method has high confidential security. However, the security analysis of the PCS method against the chosen-plaintext attack (CPA) and known-plaintext attack (KPA) performed by Solak et al. successfully breaks the PCS encryption scheme without knowing the secret key. In this paper we present an improved shuffling pattern for the plaintext image bits to make the cryptosystem proposed by Huang et al. resistant to chosen-plaintext attack and known-plaintext attack. The modifications in the existing PCS encryption method are proposed to improve its security performance against the potential attacks described above. The Number of Pixel Change Rate (NPCR), Unified Average Changed Intensity (UACI), information entropy, and correlation coefficient analysis are performed to evaluate the statistical performance of the modified PCS method. The simulation analysis reveals that the modified PCS method has better statistical features and is more resistant to attacks than Huang et al.'s PCS method.

For the traitor tracing of multimedia content, this paper presents the classification algorithm of XOR collusion attack types using hamming distance, which applies to the colluded fingerprinting codes. The conventional traitor decision hinges on the colluded fingerprinting code used by a correlation coefficient, but the proposed scheme uses hamming distance. While XOR collusion attack employing a correlation coefficient is impossible to trace the traitors about 50% colluders due to a serious XOR linear problem, our method improves the performance of traceability to trace at least 1 traitor using hamming distance, and thus, the functional behavior of the proposed traitor traceability is coincided with Probability Scheme.

The FBC(Fixed-Base Comb) is a method to efficiently operate scalar multiplication, a core operation for signature generations of the ECDSA(Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm), utilizing precomputed lookup tables. Since the FBC refers to the table depending on the secret information and the values of the table are publicly known, an adversary can perform HCA(Horizontal Correlation Analysis), one of the single trace side channel attacks, to reveal the secret. However, HCA is a statistical analysis that requires a sufficient number of unit operation traces extracted from one scalar multiplication trace for a successful attack. In the case of the scalar multiplication for signature generations of ECDSA, the number of unit operation traces available for HCA is significantly fewer than the case of the RSA exponentiation, possibly resulting in an unsuccessful attack. In this paper, we propose an improved HCA on lookup table based scalar multiplication algorithms such as FBC. The proposed attack improves HCA by increasing the number of unit operation traces by determining such traces for the same intermediate value through collision analysis. The performance of the proposed attack increases as more secure elliptic curve parameters are used.

The paper suggests that web-server security management system will be able to detect the web service attack accurately and swiftly which is keeping on increasing at the moment and reduce the possibility of the false positive detection. This system gathers the results of many unit security modules at the real time and enhances the correctness of the detection through the correlation analysis procedure. The unit security module consists of Network based Intrusion Detection System module. File Integrity Check module. System Log Analysis module, and Web Log Analysis and there is the Correlation Analysis module that analyzes the correlations on the spot as a result of each unit security module processing. The suggested system provides the feasible framework of the range extension of correlation analysis and the addition of unit security module, as well as the correctness of the attack detection. In addition, the attack detection system module among the suggested systems has the faster detection time by means of restructuring Snort with multi thread base system. WSM will be improved through shortening the processing time of many unit security modules with heavy traffic.
