  • Each municipality is promoting signboard improvement projects, but the effectiveness is not great. The main reason for this is that when the signboard is manufactured the location of the shop is only dependent on the visual aspiration effect and it is not harmonized with the building by applying uniform design. The signboard are installed almost everywhere in the city, such as residential, natural and commercial environments. And the signboard provides various services such as traffic information and life safety to customers. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of design elements and functional elements of the signboard on customer preference. First, the functions and design elements of signboards are important factors that have a positive effect on customer preference. Second, the function of the signboard has a positive(+) influence on the customer preference, and the information providing function and the corporate image side function directly affect the customer preference. Third, color elements have a positive(+) meaningful effect on customer preference. Especially, similar color sign affects customer preference positively. Fourth, the signboard design component has a positive(+) significant effect on customer preference. In particular, typefaces have a positive effect on customer preference.

  • With the growth of the Korean Wave and the importance of the fandom economy, it is necessary to consider the competitiveness of the Korean Wave with its fandom viewpoint. Particularly, the fandom phenomenon shows the characteristics of identifying the favorite star and actively acquiring and sharing related information in the fan community. Therefore, in this study, we examined the influence of Korean national image on consumers' intention to use Korean contents, and examined the mediating effects of fandom identification among Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese consumers. As a result of the empirical analysis, cultural image, corporate image, and product image were found to have statistically significant influence on the intention to use Korean Wave contents. In addition, star identification and pan community identification showed partial mediation in the effect of cultural images on the intention to use Korean contents. The results of this study suggest that the Korean Wave is a leading factor for the continuous development of Korean Wave, not the halo effect point for improving the national image, and the mediating effect of the fandom phenomenon is tested empirically.

  • Purpose: The old axion to put the customers first (e.g., customers are king, customers are always right) has been taken for granted in the service sector. In addition, many companies in South Korea are providing customer-first education for employees at their contact points to strengthen their competitiveness. However, excessive increase in the psychological power of the customer can lead to a problem of abuse of power, called 'Gap-jil.' Despite these concerns, most companies hardly discard policies to give high priority to customers because of the assumption that it enhances customer satisfaction leading to organizational performance. However, in recent years, some franchise catering companies have posted warnings about the abuse of power by customers, and a movement to pursue a power-balancing between service providers and their customers is spreading. Research design, data, and methodology: This research is conducted to reconsider the principle of the customer-first perspective and to create a basis for arguments that can solve the problem of abuse of power, which is recognized as a serious social problem. In this research, we test and analyze the effect of customers' psychological power in the context of a restaurant on expectation for service and response to service failure. Result: The result of an experimental study shows that the effect of psychological power on customer satisfaction can be somewhat negative. Also, customers with high psychological power are more likely to have high service expectations. Especially high psychological power of customers causes a difference in the expectation level of human factors such as employee attitude, while the difference in expectations of non-human factors such as restaurant atmosphere was not statistically significant. In addition, when customers with high psychological power encounter service failure situation, they are more likely to feel disappointment and regret with a service provider. Meanwhile, the effect of psychological power on complaining behaviors are not significant. Conclusions: The findings of this research provide meaningful implications that the service providers should reconsider their existing corporate culture and management policies that put customers first. In addition, the result of this research is provided meaningful opportunities to review the management philosophy for the company's customers and the education philosophy for the employee education.

  • Previous studies report that labor investment inefficiency occurs as the information asymmetry becomes severe and the agency problem between managers and external investors increases. Therefore, it is highly likely that managers will make opportunistic decisions that can damage corporate value in companies with high labor investment inefficiency. This study examines whether the value relevance of accounting information decreases as labor investment inefficiency increases as it is less likely that investors in the market use the accounting information of companies in which labor investment decisions are made inefficiently. Labor investment efficiency is measured as the difference between the actual level of labor investment and the expected level of optimal labor investment. Larger difference between the actual level of labor investment and the expected level of optimal labor investment is considered as higher inefficiency in labor investment. Using data of firms listed on the Korea Stock Exchange from 2002 to 2018, empirical results show that the value relevance of earnings decreases as the inefficiency of labor investment increases. This research provides empirical evidence on whether investment inefficiency in labor, which is an important factor in the competitiveness of a company, reduces the information usefulness of reported earnings.
