  • Thawing is very important in tuna canning because it affects the yield and quality of the canned tuna, and productivity. The effects of vacuum thawing on the quality, yield, and thawing times of frozen skipjack were compared with conventional water immersion thawing. The time required to thaw frozen skipjack tuna (weight 2.5-3.0 kg) from $-10^{\circ}C$ to $-2^{\circ}C$ was 75, 60, and 37 min at a pressure of 17, 23, and 31 mmHg, respectively, corresponding to temperatures of 20, 25, and $30^{\circ}C$. The thawing time decreased with increasing pressure. Vacuum thawing shorten the thawing time by 58-80% compared with water immersion thawing at $20^{\circ}C$, and there was less difference between the core and skin temperatures than with water immersion thawing. No significant change in pH or histamine was observed according to thawing method, while the volatile basic nitrogen (VBN), trimethylamine (TMA), and K value were lower with vacuum thawing than water immersion thawing. Based on these results, we believe that vacuum thawing minimizes the biochemical and microbial changes that occur while thawing frozen skipjack tuna.

  • Inconel 625 is useful in a variety of industrial applications because of the resistance to attack in various corrosive media at temperatures from $200^{\circ}C$ to over $1090^{\circ}C$, in combination with good low and high temperature mechanical strength. Rencently this material has also been widely used in offshore processing piping in order to extend the maintenance term and improve the quality of anti-corrosion. In general, high quality weldings for this material are readily produced by commonly used processes. How, not all processes are applicable to this material group of Ni-alloys. Metallurgical or the unavailability of matching, position or suitable welding processes produce a lower quality. Nowadays, the flux cored wire is developed and applied for increased productivity in several welding positions, including the vertical position. In this study, the weldability and weldment characteristics(mechanical properties) of inconel 625 are considered in FCAW(Flux Core Arc Welding) associated with the several shielding gases$(80\%Ar+20\%CO2,\;50\%Ar+50CO2,\;100CO2)$ in view of welding productivity.

  • Guaranteeing interoperability between devices and applications is the core role of standards organizations. Since its first JPEG standard in 1992, the Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) has published several image coding standards that have been successful in a plethora of imaging markets. Recently, these markets have become subject to potentially disruptive innovations owing to the rise of new imaging modalities such as light fields, point clouds, and holography. These so-called plenoptic modalities hold the promise of facilitating a more efficient and complete representation of 3D scenes when compared to classic 2D modalities. However, due to the heterogeneity of plenoptic products that will hit the market, serious interoperability concerns have arisen. In this paper, we particularly focus on the holographic modality and outline how the JPEG committee has addressed these tremendous challenges. We discuss the main use cases and provide a preliminary list of requirements. In addition, based on the discussion of real-valued and complex data representations, we elaborate on potential coding technologies that range from approaches utilizing classical 2D coding technologies to holographic content-aware coding solutions. Finally, we address the problem of visual quality assessment of holographic data covering both visual quality metrics and subjective assessment methodologies.

  • Recently, research on license plate recognition, which is a core technology of an intelligent transportation system(ITS), is being actively conducted. In this paper, we propose a method to extract numbers and characters from low-quality license plate images by applying the YOLOv4 algorithm. YOLOv4 is a one-stage object detection method using convolution neural network including BACKBONE, NECK, and HEAD parts. It is a method of detecting objects in real time rather than the previous two-stage object detection method such as the faster R-CNN. In this paper, we studied a method to directly extract number and character regions from low-quality license plate images without additional edge detection and image segmentation processes. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method we experimented with 500 license plate images. In this experiment, 350 images were used for training and the remaining 150 images were used for the testing process. Computer simulations show that the mean average precision of detecting number and character regions on vehicle license plates was about 93.8%.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate chronological change of quality of life after surgery in patients with gastric cancer during one year postoperatively. Materials and Methods: Quality of life data were obtained from 272 gastric cancer patients who underwent curative gastrectomy between September 2008 and February 2011 at the Kyungpook National University Hospital. The Korean versions of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Quality of Life Questionnaire Core (QLQ) 30 with gastric cancer-specific module, the EORTC QLQ-STO22 were used to assess quality of life. All patients had no evidence of recurrence or metastasis during the first postoperative year. Patients were asked to complete the questionnaire, by themselves preoperatively, 3-, 6-, 9-, and 12-months postoperatively. Results: Physical functioning score and role functioning score significantly decreased at first 3 months after surgery and the significant differences were noticed until 12 months after surgery. Emotional functioning score started with the lowest score before surgery and significant improvement was shown 6 months after surgery. Most symptom scores and STO-22 scores were highest at 3 months after surgery and gradually decreased, thereafter. Eating restriction, anxiety, taste, body image scores was highest at 3 months after surgery without significant decrease afterwards. Conclusions: Most scales worsened after surgery and gradually recovered afterwards with some differences in rate of recovery. However the scales did not fully recover by 1 year period. Further follow-up after 1 year would be helpful in determining which scales are permanently damaged and which are just taking longer time to recover.

  • Background: Group occupational health program by non-for-profit agency, started five years ago, for management of health problems in small and medium sized industries, is one of the measures to cope with limited human and financial resources in occupational health. The program has been rapidly expanding to include 54 participating institutions, private as well as public, all over the country. In spite of its potential impact on health of employees and practice of occupational health in small and medium sized industries, comprehensive evaluation in terms of quality has not been tried. Objectives : The aim of this study are to develop and apply criteria to assess quality of newly developed Korean group occupational health program. Methods : By defining occupational health services, in particular for small and medium sized industries, as one of the primary health care, we included followings as core elements of sound occupational health program; accessibility, continuity, intersectoral collaboration, comprehensiveness, community participation, technical quality, adequacy, focus on preventive services, acceptability, and workers' satisfaction. Again we divided each elements into five major components of national health system infrastructures developed by World Health Organization; development of health resources organized arrangement or resources, delivery of health care, economic support, and management. In turn, we categorized each component into input, process and outcome aspects. After discussions in expert panel, several criteria were selected for evaluation of program. The criteria were modified according to each group of interviewees. Results: We developed five sets of questionnaire that evaluate the quality of 'Group occupational health program'. Conclusion : The refining of the measurement tool and the continuing evaluation process for the 'Group occupational health institute' should be done further.
