The purpose of this study was to examine the cytotoxicity of orthodontic wire which had an increased diameter through electroplating, and to evaluate its possible clinical applications, First. nickel plating was carried out on the commercially available stainless steel wire using an electroplating technique For the comparison of the electroplated wire with ready made stainless steel wire and titanium or copper. each wire was incubated for 72 hours in a medium. The release of the metal ion was measured using ICP-AES (Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrophotometer). Balb/c 3T3 mouse fibroblast was put on a microplate and placed in an incubated medium of 75%, 50%, and 20% dilation. An MTT analysis was used to compare with the medium only. The change in absorbency value of each wire group and the difference of absorbency value according to the change of dilution was measured The results of ICP-AES analysis showed that great amount nickel iou was isolated from electroplated orthodontic wires and great amount copper ion was isolated from copper. The results of the MTT analysis showed that there was no difference in the absorbency value of titanium at any dilution. However, the electroplated wires (p<0.001) the stainless steel wires (p<0.05) and the copper (P<0.001) were statistically significantly lower than those of medium only at all dilutions. Assessment as per ISO 10993, part 5, showed that electroplated wire was alloted to 'moderate cytotoxic' the titanium and stainless steel wire were 'non-cytotoxic' The results of this study indicate that the electroplated orthodontic wires need additional efforts to decrease cytotoxicity for their clinical applications.

Clad wire , which has the advantages of the high strength of a steel core and the electro-conductivity, corrosion resistance of a copper layer, is widely being used the telecommunications, electric-electronic and military technology industries, among others. It is important to obtain uniform coated rate when producing clad wires. Clad wire drawing process can be influenced on damage and coated rate of core and sleeve by process variables as semi-die angle and reduction in area. Therefore, in this study, the finite-element results established in previous study is used to analyze the effect of the various forming parameters, which included the semi-die angle, reduction in area etc. The coated rate will be predicted with observation copper coated rate variation according to total reduction in area and the optimal pass schedule will be set up through proper reduction in area and semi-die angle variation.

Friction coefficient of epoxy metal matrix composites were investigated. The main objective was to increase the friction coefficient through rubber sole sliding against the epoxy floor coating providing appropriate level of resistance. This was to avoid the excessive movement and slip accidents. Epoxy metal matrix composites were reinforced by different copper wire diameters. The epoxy metal matrix composites were experimentally conducted at different conditions namely dry, water and detergent wetted sliding, were the friction coefficient increased as the number of wires increased. When the wires were closer to the sliding surface, the friction coefficient was found to increase. The friction coefficient was found to increase with the increase of the copper wire diameter in epoxy metal matrix composites. This behavior was attributed to the fact that as the diameter and the number of wires increased, the intensity of the electric field, generated from electric static charge increased causing an adhesion increase between the two sliding surfaces. At water wetted sliding conditions, the effect of changing number of wires on friction coefficient was less than the effect of wire diameter. The presence of water and detergent on the sliding surfaces decreased friction coefficient compared to the dry sliding. When the surfaces were detergent wetted, the friction coefficient values were found to be lower than that observed when sliding in water or dry condition.
Red pepper calyx cutting devices using a impacting force by a rotational cutter were devised and tested to obtain the fundamental data for development of a calyx removal unit. Fresh red peppers with 80∼87%(w.b.) of initial moisture contents were used as experimental materials. Square and wire type of rotational cutters were used to cut the red pepper calyx and the fresh red peppers were fed into the device both manually and automatically. Three rotational speeds of 250, 500, 700rpm were selected for a square, and 1000, 1500, 1800rpm for a wire type cutter respectively. Four types of red pepper fixing unit were used in manual feeding. The cutting rate of the square type cutter was over 50% regardless the shape and specification of the cutter. For the wire type cutter, the copper wire and nylon chord could not be applied to cut the red pepper calyx because of the low cutting rate. But for the fine wire, the cutting rate was higher and the cutting mechanism was more steady than copper wire and nylon chord. The cutting rate of automatic feeding and wire type cutting unit was about 70% for all levels of the rotational speed. The cutting rate was highly related to the impacting point of red pepper in carrier box. To increase the cutting rate using the rotational cutter, a proper device and mechanism was required to keep the impacting point consistently.

Coil specimen was prepared by coating a copper wire with two varnish thin layers: the first was polyamideimide (PAI)/nanosilica (5 wt%) varnish and the second was anti-corona PAI/nanosilica (15 wt%) varnish. Insulation breakdown voltage was investigated under inverter surge condition at $20^{\circ}C$, $70^{\circ}C$, $100^{\circ}C$, $150^{\circ}C$, $200^{\circ}C$, $250^{\circ}C$, respectively. The insulation lifetime of the two layered coil was tens of times longer than that of original PAI coil. And the insulation lifetime decreased with increasing ambient temperature because there was weak binding strength between copper and varnish layer.

It was studied in the present work how the thermal cycling performance of LOC (lead on chip) packages depends on the package construct or leadframe materials. First, package body thickness and Au wire diameter were manipulated for the selection of proper package design. Secondly, two different types of leadframe materials (i.e. copper and 52%Fe-48%Ni alloy) were tested to determine the better material for improved reliability margin of plastically encapsulated microelectronic packages. This work shows that manipulating package body thickness was more effective than an increase of Au wire from 23$\mu\textrm{m}$ to 33$\mu\textrm{m}$ for the prevention of wire debonding failure. Further, this work indicates that the LOC packages including the copper leadframes can be more susceptible to thermal cycling reliability degradation due to chip cracking than those including the alloy leadframes.
In this paper, we analyzed the properties change of electric wire when the thermal stress was applied to 600V grade polyvinyl chloride insulated wire (IV). In the structure analysis, normal wire has the properties of direction on the surface, but in case of deteriorated wire at above $400^{\circ}c$, it formed the carbide, the crack and the crystal. The surface composition rate of normal wire was Cu : 100%, but the section composition of the deteriorated wire at $800^{\circ}c$ showed Cu : 78.89%, O : 21.11%. In result of analyzing the differential scanning calory of copper wire, the new reaction peak was observed on the deteriorated wire at above $700^{\circ}c$. In case of the deteriorated wire as $150^{\circ}c$ at the differential thermal analysis, an endothermic reaction appeared at $264^{\circ}c$ lower than the reactive point of normal wire. The occupation rate of oxygen according to the deterioration of copper wire is about 20% at $500^{\circ}c$.
In electrification of the Honam line, the grounding method of the copper wire shield of 66kV feeder cable was disputed. This paper describes that the review of the proper earthing method(one-side earthing or both-side earthing) under consideration of the site condition and the acceptability of the induction voltage of the shield on the end of the cable.
In this study, we investigated the recovery of copper and synthetic fuel from the waste wire by low temperature pyrolysis which can overcome problems of the recent incineration methods. Through thermal decomposition process of waste wire, we achieved the big advantage of getting usable resources as the forms of copper and fuel with a very high value. The TG/DTA and small-scale reaction experiments were carried out to determine an optimum temperature for waste wire pyrolysis. And the pyrolysis was done at 350, 450, and $550^{\circ}C$, respectively, and heating rate of the TG/DTA was $5^{\circ}C/min$ untill $700^{\circ}C$. The result shows that the optimum temperature range for dehydrochlorination of PVC was $280{\sim}350^{\circ}C$, as a lower temperature range than $400{\sim}550^{\circ}C$ of PE and PP. Practically over 95% of copper metal and synthetic fuel, which has the 8027 kcal/kg as a calorific value, were recovered from the waste wire samples.

In this study, experimental results of the nucleate boling of wire-wrapped tubes are provided. Both water and R-113 were boiled. Solid stainless steel wires, stranded copper wires and stranded nylon wires were tested. Solid stainless wire is effective to enhance the boiling of water. The performance is approximately the same(or slightly better at certain conditions) as that of GEWA-T tubes. For the test range of wire diameter 0.6 $mm{\le}d{\le}2.6 mm$, the optimum gap width increases as the wire diameter increases. The maximum heat transfer coefficient was obtained for the 1.0 mm diameter wire, and it is 1.6 times larger than that of the GEWA-T at the heat flux of 20 $kW/m^{2}.$ Solid stainless wire is also effective to enhance the boling of R-113 at low heat fluxes. The performance of the wire-wrapped tube approaches that of GEWA-T. At high heat fluxes, however, the enhancement decreases. The reason may be attributed to the cavity shape and the high wettability of the refrigerants. Stranded copper or nylon wire is effective to enhance the boiling of R-113. The performance is approximately the same(or slightly better) as that of GEWA-T tubes. Maximum heat transfer was obtained for the stranded nylon wire, and it is approximately 1.4 times larger than that for the GEWA-T at the heat flux of 20 $kW/m^{2}.$ The reason may be atrributed to the favorable thermal environment in the restricted regions formed by twisted wires.
