This paper introduces a new zinc coated copper wire electrode with coiled cone shape which has low surface resistance and tolerance to the motion artifact for promontory stimulation electrically auditory brainstem responses (PSEABR). Auditory brainstem responses (ABR) can be used to predict hearing threshold level with a great deal of accuracy particularly for a young child who cannot cooperate mechanically and some hearing impaired who are exaggerating a hearing loss for economic compensation. While severe profound sensorineural hearing losses may not be implemented by auditory potentials, PSEABR is proven as a useful tool even for some sensorineural related hearing impaired. It was shown that PSEABR gives the electrical stimuli to promontory of the cochlear instead of giving acoustic stimuli. For this reason, PSEABR can be used as an alternative for cochlear implantation, and can also be used as an optimal device selection and neural information for MAP. It was found that the role of electrode is very important in PSEABR. Even though this cone-shaped electrode was applied in animal experiments, waveforms are well produced by PSEABR. Thus, it was concluded that cone-shaped electrode turned out to be a useful preoperative audiological evaluation tool in deciding time for cochlear implantation surgery.
In this work, small-size, high-performance solenoid-type RF chip inductors utilizing a low-loss Al$_2$O$_3$core material were investigated. The size of the chip inductors fabricated in this work were 15$\times$10$\times$0.7㎣, 2.1$\times$1.5$\times$10㎣, and 2.4$\times$2.0$\times$1.4㎣ and copper (Cu) wire with 40 ㎛ diameter was used as the coils. High frequency characteristics of the inductance, quality factor, and impedance of developed inductors were measured suing an RF Impedance/Material Analyzer (HP4291B with HP16193A test fixture). It was observed that the developed inductors with the number of turns of 7 have the inductance of 33 to 100nH and exhibit the self-resonant frequency (SRF) of .26 to 1.1 GHz. The SRF of inductors decreases with increasing the inductance and the inductors have the quality factor of 60 to 80 in the frequency range of 300 MHz to 1.1 GHz. In this study, small-size solenoid-type RF chip inductors with high inductance and high quality factor were fabricated successfully. It is suggested that the thin film-type inductor is necessary to fabricate the smaller size inductors at the expence of inductance and quality factor values.
Helical magneto-cumulative generator(HMCG)s are very useful devices in suppling pulsed high current to inductance loads. To apply fast high voltage pulses to high impedance loads, high current outputs of HMCGs are required to be conditioned to higher voltages by using various pulse components such as opening/closing switches and pulse transformer. In this paper, stepping with the trends of requirements for ever-increasing energy in pulsed power applications coupling methods is investigated to obtain higher output energy by connecting several HMCGs in series or parallel way. The coil dimension of HMCGs used in series or parallel connections was 50 mm in diameter and 150 mm in length. The coil was fabricated by using enamel-coated copper wire of 1 mm in diameter. The highest energy amplification ratio and peak voltage of load were achieved from the serially connected four-barrel HMCG system. They were 68 and 34 kV, respectively, when the initial energy of 0.36 kJ was supplied into that system with the load of 0.4 μH. Within the tested range of inductance ratio, energy amplification ratio was found to be highly dependent on the inductance ratio of serial- and parallel-connected HMCG systems to load, which to be optimal around 500 was turned out. The experimental results showed that the output energy and voltage of load are controlled by connecting HMCGs in series or parallel.

We investigate the indirect-fed magnetic resonant wireless power transfer (MR-WPT) system for wireless charging for mobile devices by rearranging the loops and coils. Conventional MR-WPT is difficult to apply to consumer electronic products because of the arrangement of the resonators. In addition, there are restrictions for charging using a wireless technology, which depend on the circumstances of the usage scenarios. For practical applications, we analyzed the transfer efficiency of the MR-WPT system with various combinations and positions of resonators. Three rearranged configurations (Out-Out, Out-In, In-In) have been considered and experimentally investigated using hollow pipe loops and wire copper coils. There were four types of loops and two types of coils; each one had a different diameter and thickness. The results of the measurements show that the trends of the transfer efficiencies for the three configurations were similar. A transfer efficiency of 82.5% was achieved at a 35-cm distance between the 60-cm diameter transmitter (Tx) and receiver (Rx) coils.
In this paper, we experimented and analyzed about electric fire risk assessment methods of LED lightings for outdoor. LED lighting is composed of AC power lines, AC/DC converter, DC power lines and LED lamps. There are some risk factors of electric fire in LED lighting such as short circuit between power lines or power line and ground, dielectric breakdown, leakage current, abnormal voltage inflow, poor contacts(connections), etc. As a result of this study, insulation coverings of wire was ignited due to dielectric breakdown between power lines and molten marks were formed in copper conductor. LED lighting was blown out while short circuit, beside that, electrical disorder did not occur. When abnormal voltage was inflowed, electronic components such as varistor, condenser were damaged. Partial heating was produced and insulation was melted and carbonized by arc and heating while poor contacts were happened. We expect that the results of this study would be helpful for electrical safety of LED lightings for outdoor.
Steady state and transient thermal analysis has been done by a finite element method in a diode of 12kV blocking voltage for microwave oven. The diode was fabricated by soldering ten pieces of 1200V diodes in series, capping a dummy wafer at the far end of diode series, and finally copper wire bonded for building anode and cathode terminal. In order to achieve high voltage and reliability, the edge of each diode was beveled and passivated by resin and epoxy with a thickness of 25$\mu\textrm{m}$ and 3,700$\mu\textrm{m}$, respectively. The chip size, thickness and material properties were very important factor for high voltage diode package. And also, thermal stress value was highest in the edge of diode and solder. So, design of edge in silicon was very important to thermal stress.
In this paper, the arc and flame characteristics of wires were studied during a short-circuit. The short-circuit angle between wires was fixed as $90^{\circ}$ and the experiments were conducted on bare copper wires by varying the diameter of wires. The arc and flame patterns were taken by a high speed imaging system. The direction of arc and flame was explained with Lorentz force. After the short-circuit experiment, the shapes of molten wires were analyzed by a stereo microscope. In the results of experiment, the arc and flame of wires showed particular patterns. The flame characteristics by the diameter of wires were analyzed using a HSIS. We could find out the arc characteristics of wires which were different by the diameter.
When an abnormal condition occurs due to a fault current at a consumer location where electricity is supplied through high-Tc superconducting(HTS) cable, the HTS cable would be damaged if there is no appropriate method to protect it. The fault-current-limiting type HTS cable that is suggested in this study has a structure of transport part and limit part. It conduct a zero impedance transport current at ordinary operations and carry out a fault current limiting at extraordinary operations. To make a perfect this structure, it is essential to investigate electrical properties of transport part that comprise the fault-current-limiting type HTS cable. In this paper, transport part that comprise HTS wire with copper stabilization layer is examined the current transport properties and the stability evaluation.
