Hydrothermal Synthesis, Crystal Structure and EPR Property of Tetranuclear Copper(II) Cluster [Cu4OCl6(C14H12N2)4]

  • The tetranuclear copper(II) cluster compound $[Cu_4OCl_6(C_{14}H_{12}N_2)_4]$ has been synthesized by hydrothermal reaction and studied by X-ray diffraction. The four copper(II) atoms locate four capsheaves of a tetrahedral skeletal structure and a oxygen atom as interstitial atom occupies the center position of the same tetrahedron, and each edge of the Cu-Cu tetrahedron is bridged by one ${\mu}_2$-Cl anion. The copper atom possesses slightly distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry with three ${\mu}_2$-Cl atoms in equatorial position and the interstitial O atom and one N atom from 3-benzyl-benzimidazole ligand occupying axial position. The Cu-Cu distances are in the range of 3.0986-3.1162 ${\AA}$. The EPR spectrum suggested that the copper(II) ground state $d_{x2-y2}$ and the coordination geometry was trigonal bipyramidal.

  • 이핵 화합물, $Ag_2$[Phen]_2[S_2P(OPr)_2]_2$(Phen=1,10-phenanthroline; Pr=propyl)은 비스(디프로필디싸이오포스페이토) 은(|)화합물과 1,10 펜안트로린 리간드 반응에 의하여 합성되었고, 그 화합물 구조는 X-ray에 의하여 규명되었다. 두 디프로필디싸이오포스페이토 리간드는 두 개의 은 원자를 연결하여 팔각형 $Ag_2S_4P_2$ 고리를 형성하였고, 1,10-펜안트로린 리간드는 은 이온과 결합하여 사면체구조를 이루었다. Ag-S 결합거리는 2.471(1)와 2.567(1) ${\AA}$이었고, Ag-N 결합 거리는 2.3666(3)와 2.471(3) ${\AA}$이었다.

Synthesis and Reactivity of a Mononuclear Manganese(II) Complex Having Pseudo-Seven Coordination Environment

  • Utilizing a planar five coordinating N3S2 ligand, 2,6-bis(2-methylthiophenyliminomethyl)pyridine, a pseudo 7-coordinated manganese(II) complex with two labile triflate anions in the axial positions was synthesized. The reaction of the manganese(II) complex with an oxidant, iodosylbenzene, produced a metastable high-valent manganese(IV)-oxo species at 0 ${^{\circ}C}$. The high-valent Mn(IV)-oxo intermediate was characterized with a UV-vis spectrophotometer and an electrospray ionization mass spectroscopy. Reactivity studies of the Mn(IV)=O species revealed that the intermediate is capable of oxygenating $PPh_3$ and N-dealkylating N,N-dimethyl-toludine.

A Manganese Coordination Polymer and a Palladium Molecular Compound of 3-Pyridinepropionic acid (HL): [MnL2(H2O)2] and trans-[Pd(HL)2Cl2]

  • Three coordination polymers, [$ML_2(H_2O)_2$] (M = Co (1), Ni (2), Mn (3)), were prepared from metal acetates ($M(CH_3COO)_2{\cdot}4H_2O$) and 3-pyridinepropionic acid ($HL=(3-py)-CH_2CH_2COOH$) by solvent-layer methods. By contrast, a discrete molecular compound, trans-[$Pd(HL)_2Cl_2$] (4), was synthesized by replacing benzonitrile (PhCN) ligands in trans-[$Pd(PhCN)_2Cl_2$] with HL under microwave-heating conditions. Compounds 1-3 have a 2D framework, and compound 4 contains a square-planar Pd metal.
