Nowadays, the touch screen panel (TSP) cover glass for mobile smart devices is being developed with a curved glass shape due to different design requirements. Because the sizes of mobile smart devices continue to increase, there has also been a great increase in the demand for large-area curved glass greater than 20 inches. In this study, heat and fluid flow analysis using CFD was performed to optimize the heating surface temperature distribution of the large curved glass formation system. Five cooling water flow paths in the cooling block were designed and analyzed for each case. A function that can quantitatively calculate the temperature uniformity of the heating surface was proposed and these values were obtained for the five models. The temperature distributions of the heating surface and the energy consumption of the heating system were also compared and comprehensively analyzed. Based on the analysis results of the five different cooling channel path models, the optimal path design could be presented.

Solar energy is one of the most important alternative energy sources which have been shown to meet high levels of heating and cooling demands in buildings. However, the efficiencies to satisfy these demands using solar energy significantly vary based on the characteristics of individual building. Therefore, this paper is focused on developing the methodology which can help to design optimal solar system for heating and cooling to be in cooperated within the existing buildings according to their load profiles. This research has established the Solar Heating and Cooling (SHC) system which is composed of collectors, absorption chiller, boiler and heat storage tank. Each component of SHC system is analyzed and made by means of Modelica Language and Pistache tool is verified the results. Sequential approximate optimization (SAO) and meta-models determined to 15 design parameters to optimize SHC system. Finally, total coefficient of performance (COP) of the entire SHC system is improved approximately 7.3% points compared to total COP of the base model of the SHC system.
Recently available heat pump system by using air heat-source is not efficient. Because the mean temperature of korean winter season is low, economy of air heat-source heat pump descend, and COP is below 3.0. This paper was practiced the simulation on evaluation criteria for heat pump heating and cooling systems to resident building. As a result, heating and cooling composition heat pump system apply to the building needed to be provided heat source for 24 hours.
From the point of view of the second law of thermodynamics, house heating and cooling systems were analysed for saving energy. The analysis provides a theoretical basis for the heat-pump application. Also the efficiency of energy use is defined more rigorously by comparing the thermodynamic availability actually consumed in heating and cooling with the minimum thermodynamic availability required to do the same heating and cooling. It was found that the present 'Ondol' heating system has a heating efficiency of around $8\%$ according to the definition described here. Several schemes to inprove the efficiency are presented.
HVAC&R systems account for more than 50% of the energy consumption of buildings. The purpose of this study is to propose an optimal design method for the HVAC&R system and to examine the possibility for the energy conservation of a selected system. The energy demand for cooling and heating is determined by using TRNSYS and HEET. By an interaction between total system efficiency and cooling-to-heating load ratio, the optimal HVAC&R systems will be decided. The results showed that this proposed method is significantly capable of determining optimal system and building design for saving energy.
This experiment is significant because we can provide information by measuring effect of energy saving for whom plan to install a geothermal heat & cooling system. The result shows geothemal system can save about 50% of energy(heating : 35%, cooling : 60%) and we verified that when using curtain can help saving $4{\sim}12%$ of energy additionally
The purpose of this study is to improve energy efficiency of windows in office buildings through the evaluation of their heating, cooling and illumination load. Energy efficiency is influenced by window size which is determined at the early stage of building design. The process of this study is as follows. First, energy performance is analysed according to the various rates of windows through computer simulation (ECOTECT). Then, the annual heating, cooling and illuminating loads according to the different window sizes are compared one another. Results indicated that the optimal window size considering energy efficiency is 50% of the surface area. When the window size is 50% of the surface area, annual maintenance expense is also smallest. Since the cost of cooling is larger than that of heating, too low indoor air temperature in summer is unfavorable based on the reasonable annual maintenance expenses.
Distributed generation(DG) of combined cooling, heat. and power(CCHP)has been gaining momentum in recent year as efficient, secure alternative for meeting increasing energy demands. This paper presents the energy performance of microturbine CCHP system equipped with an absorption chiller by modelling it in hospital building. The orders of study were as following. 1)The list and schedule of energy consumption equipment in hospital were examined such as heating and cooling machine, light etc. 2) Annual report of energy usage and monitoring data were examined as heating, cooling, DHW, lighting, etc. 3) The weather data in 2007 was used for simulation and was arranged by meteorological office data in Daejeon. 4) Reference simulation model was built by comparison of real energy consumption and simulation result by TRNSYS and ESP-r. The energy consumption pattern of building were analyzed by simulation model and energy reduction rate were calculated over the cogeneration. As a result of this study, power generation efficiency of turbine was about 30% after installing micro gas turbine and lighting energy as well as total electricity consumption can be reduced by 40%. If electricity energy and waste heat in turbine are used, 56% of heating energy and 67% of cooling energy can be reduced respectively, and total system efficiency can be increased up to 70%.
The aim of this study is to investigate the performance of a heating and cooling system with aquifer thermal energy storage(ATES heat pump system) known as one of the underground thermal energy storage application systems. The ATES system was composed of heat pump unit and ATES, which was installed in a factory building located in Anseoung. The system represented very high heating and cooling performance, and showed nearly constant COP at each heating and cooling season due to the stability of EWT. The economic analysis about an ATES system and a conventional system was also executed. The conventional system adopted an air-conditioner in the summer season and a LNG boiler in the winter season. The payback period of the ATES system was estimated by 6.62 years.
Cooling and Heating system using Geothermal energy in the country has shown rapid development in the research and business field during about 10 years. However, like other renewable energy sources, high initial construction cost is acting as an obstacle to apply widely. Therefore Energy pile system(Heat Exchanger inserted inside the structure pile) that can save about 25 % initial construction cost has been studied in European countries and recently being studied in our country. Therefore, KPECO(Korea Electric Power Corporation) is also studying energy pile system to improve cooling & heating system in substation that install about 200 pile. KPECO is aimed to make energy pile design, construction and maintenance standards because substation has good applicability. In this study, we studied to make new grout material and design program to make optimized design & counstruction method of energy pile system. And planing to peform field test for energy pile system in a 154 kV substation to obtain long-term behavior and efficiency of the system.
