  • The static charges are generated by streaming electrification phenomena when insulating oil flowing by force for the purpose of cooling at the internal of Ultra-high power transformer. In this thesis, their elimination method was studied. The falter represents a greet much electrification characteristics because falter has large interfaces with liquid. In this paper, the streaming-electrification phenomena of insulating oil by metal filter were measured by mesh number, oil flow rate, oil temperature and a kind of mesh and The effect of charge elimination by metal filter generated minus ion was measured.

In this thesis, their elimination method was studied. In this paper the effect of Additive on the electric conductivity of Insulating oil is studied. The variation of electric conductivity disappear when Additive is molten in insulating oil, the variation of Additive is not enough to decrease streaming electrification of insulating oil(${\sigma}>10^{-12}$[S/cm]).

  • The static charges are generated by streaming electrification phenomena in insulating oil flowing by force for the purpose of cooling at the internal of Ultra-high power transformer. In this thesis, their elimination method was studied. In this paper the effect of Additive on the electric conductivity of Insulating oil is studied. The variation of electric conductivity disappear when Additive is molten in insulating oil BTA(Benzotriazole) appear more variation of electric conductivity than that of SP-S10(Sorbitan mono-stearate). But the variation is not enough to decrease streaming electrification of insulating oil($\sigma$>10$\^$-12/[S/cm]).

  • This paper surveys the latest findings on vegetable-oil-based dielectric coolants in power systems. In recent years, environmental concerns have been increased on the use of poorly biodegradable mineral oils in distribution and power transformers in regions where spills from leaks and equipment failure could contaminate the surroundings. In addition, there are demands to improve equipment efficiencies in power systems. In this reason, researches were started in the mid 1990s to develop a fully biodegradable dielectric coolants. Vegetable oil was considered the most likely candidate for a fully biodegradable dielectric coolants. Vegetable-oil-based dielectric coolants provide the advantages of high level of biodegradability, renewable natural resource, non-toxic properties, enhanced fire safety, more effective cooling and good dielectric strength for many electrical equipment.

  • Presence of water in the lubricating oils could be one of the first indicators of potentially expensive and possibly catastrophic failure of the machine as it may cause displace the oil films to prevent the lubrication function of the oil or chemically react with many oil additives resulting in the oil degradation. In order to detect water content quantitatively in lubricating oils many methods and sensors has been developed. Among these, capacitive sensors including sensitive layer, whose dielectric factor changes according to the water content absorbed in the layer, are proposed mainly in the market. But these sensors are not sensitive to a high water content. Besides, the absorbing layer soils in time. In this work, an evaporation of water moisture from oil into air volume above lubricant surface and condensation of water vapor at a cooling surface was used to measure water content quantitatively in an lubricating oil. Laboratory test results of a prototype sensor were presented. Test results showed that the proposed method could be avaliable to measure a low levels of oil moisture.

  • EMU(Electric Multiple Unit) of Seoul Metro are equipped with air conditioning and six line flow fans for air circulation. In summer, the air conditioning and line flow fans usually work at the same time. Recently, high oil price leads more people to use public transportation, which in turn makes them feel hotter inside the rolling stocks and complain about air conditioning state. In order to improve indoor air quality in summer, it is inevitable to increase the cooling capacity of air conditioners, which costs a lot of money. Thus, we need to raise cooling efficiency by rearranging existing devices effectively. In this study, we found a better way to improve refreshment inside the trains by changing the operation method of line flow fans and door opening systems. The results will help improve the cooling efficiency of EMU in summer. Also, more precise experiments and analyses of our data can lead to various methods to increase energy efficiency.

  • It is known that over 60% of engine power is dissipated into circumstance, cooling water and cooling oil without any conversion into useful work. Following the first law of thermodynamics, it is possible that heat loss to cooling water can be converted into mechanical work through crankshaft. But in case that the engine is operating without any cooling effect, the serious problem unsolved so far is the engine durability. In this study, LHR(Low Heat Rejection) engine was introduced as one of the promising engine and several useful qualitative and quantitative data were drawn.

  • Recently, environmental pollution has become a serious problem in industry, and many researches have been done in order to preserve the environment. The coolant, which promotes lubrication, cooling and penetration, contains chlorine, sulfur and phosphorus to improve the machining efficiency. These additives, which move around into the air during machining, pollute working. Therefore, many researches on how to reduce the amount of coolant during machining have been carried out. However, to reduce even small amount of coolant causes high temperature of a workpiece and it brings thermal defects. In this study, the experiments of wet & dry grinding using cooling methods (using coolant only, mist and compressed cold air only) are performed to solve the problem of environmental contamination and to get a better surface integrity of a workpiece by comparing surface roughness, roundness and residual stress.

  • This paper has studied thermal characteristics of machine tool to develope high speed spindle and optimum design condidering the thermal deformation. Comparing the test data of temperature measurement and structural analysis data using FEM, we verifiedthe test validity and predicted thermal deformation, influence of spindle generation of heat, and established cooling system to prevent the thermal deformation. 1) The temperature rise of spindle system depends on increasing number of rotation and shows sudden doubling increment of number of rotation over 7,000rpm. 2) Oil jacket cooling can be effective cooling method below 8,000rpm but, over 8,000rpm, it shows the decrement of cooling effect. 3) Comparing FEM analysis results and revolution test results, we can confirmn approximate temperature change consequently, it is possible to simulate temperature rise and thermal distribution on the inside of spindle system. 4) We can confirm that simulated approach by FEM analysis can be effective method in thermal-appropriate design..

  • Recently, the fuel charge is accounted for very high in the navigation cost. Therefore Shipowner is tried to find method for reducing oil consumption. ERCS(Energy Reduced Cooling System) is one of the method. The ERCS algorithm operates to decrease a power consumption of main sea water cooling pump through inverter control. We have developed ERCS controller with algorithm. The ERCS controller consists of CPU board, Digital I/O board, A/D board, D/A board and LCD/SW board. We tested with dummy signal to confirm the algorithm working correctly and achieved the good results. Before soon we will test under real condition in the ship and expect to get the result as forecasted.
