NCTR(Non-Cooperative Target Recognition) refers to the function of radar to identify target on its own without support from other systems such as ELINT(ELectronic INTelligence). ISAR(Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar) image is one of the representative methods of NCTR, but it is difficult to automatically classify the target without an identification database due to the significant changes in the image depending on the target's maneuver and location. In this study, we discuss how to build an identification database using simulation and deep-learning technique even when actual images are insufficient. To simulate ISAR images changing with various radar operating environment, A model that generates and learns images through the process named 'Perfect scattering image,' 'Lost scattering image' and 'JEM noise added image' is proposed. And the learning outcomes of this model show that not only simulation images of similar shapes but also actual ISAR images that were first entered can be classified.

The MobileNetV3 is specially designed for mobile devices with limited memory and computing power. To reduce the network parameters and improve the network inference speed, a new lightweight network is proposed based on MobileNetV3. Firstly, to reduce the computation of residual blocks, a partial residual structure is designed by dividing the input feature maps into two parts. The designed partial residual structure is used to replace the residual block in MobileNetV3. Secondly, a dual-path feature extraction structure is designed to further reduce the computation of MobileNetV3. Different convolution kernel sizes are used in the two paths to extract feature maps with different sizes. Besides, a transition layer is also designed for fusing features to reduce the influence of the new structure on accuracy. The CIFAR-100 dataset and Image Net dataset are used to test the performance of the proposed partial residual structure. The ResNet based on the proposed partial residual structure has smaller parameters and FLOPs than the original ResNet. The performance of improved MobileNetV3 is tested on CIFAR-10, CIFAR-100 and ImageNet image classification task dataset. Comparing MobileNetV3, GhostNet and MobileNetV2, the improved MobileNetV3 has smaller parameters and FLOPs. Besides, the improved MobileNetV3 is also tested on CPU and Raspberry Pi. It is faster than other networks

Ecological research relies on the interpretation of large amounts of visual data obtained from extensive wildlife surveys, but such large-scale image interpretation is costly and time-consuming. Using an artificial intelligence (AI) machine learning model, especially convolution neural networks (CNN), it is possible to streamline these manual tasks on image information and to protect wildlife and record and predict behavior. Ecological research using deep-learning-based object recognition technology includes various research purposes such as identifying, detecting, and identifying species of wild animals, and identification of the location of poachers in real-time. These advances in the application of AI technology can enable efficient management of endangered wildlife, animal detection in various environments, and real-time analysis of image information collected by unmanned aerial vehicles. Furthermore, the need for school education and social use on biodiversity and environmental issues using AI is raised. School education and citizen science related to ecological activities using AI technology can enhance environmental awareness, and strengthen more knowledge and problem-solving skills in science and research processes. Under these prospects, in this paper, we compare the results of our early 2013 study, which automatically identified African cichlid fish species using photographic data of them, with the results of reanalysis by CNN deep learning method. By using PyTorch and PyTorch Lightning frameworks, we achieve an accuracy of 82.54% and an F1-score of 0.77 with minimal programming and data preprocessing effort. This is a significant improvement over the previous our machine learning methods, which required heavy feature engineering costs and had 78% accuracy.
Typical anti-jamming technologies based on array antennas, Space Time Adaptive Process (STAP) & Space Frequency Adaptive Process (SFAP), are very effective algorithms to perform nulling and beamforming. However, it does not perform equally well for all types of jamming signals. If the anti-jamming algorithm is not optimized for each signal type, anti-jamming performance deteriorates and the operation stability of the system become worse by unnecessary computation. Therefore, jamming classification technique is required to obtain optimal anti-jamming performance. Machine learning, which has recently been in the spotlight, can be considered to classify jamming signal. In general, performing supervised learning for classification requires a huge amount of data and new learning for unfamiliar signal. In the case of jamming signal classification, it is difficult to obtain large amount of data because outdoor jamming signal reception environment is difficult to configure and the signal type of attacker is unknown. Therefore, this paper proposes few-shot jamming signal classification technique using meta-learning and transfer-learning to train the model using a small amount of data. A training dataset is constructed by anti-jamming algorithm input data within the GNSS receiver when jamming signals are applied. For meta-learning, Model-Agnostic Meta-Learning (MAML) algorithm with a general Convolution Neural Networks (CNN) model is used, and the same CNN model is used for transfer-learning. They are trained through episodic training using training datasets on developed our Python-based simulator. The results show both algorithms can be trained with less data and immediately respond to new signal types. Also, the performances of two algorithms are compared to determine which algorithm is more suitable for classifying jamming signals.
The majority of IoT devices already employ AIoT, however there are still numerous issues that need to be resolved before AI applications can be deployed. In order to more effectively distribute IoT edge resources, this paper propose a machine learning-based approach to managing IoT edge resources. The suggested method constantly improves the allocation of IoT resources by identifying IoT edge resource trends using machine learning. IoT resources that have been optimized make use of machine learning convolution to reliably sustain IoT edge resources that are always changing. By storing each machine learning-based IoT edge resource as a hash value alongside the resource of the previous pattern, the suggested approach effectively verifies the resource as an attack pattern in a distributed AIoT context. Experimental results evaluate energy efficiency in three different test scenarios to verify the integrity of IoT Edge resources to see if they work well in complex environments with heterogeneous computational hardware.
This study was carried out to generate various images of railroad surfaces with random defects as training data to be better at the detection of defects. Defects on the surface of railroads are caused by various factors such as friction between track binding devices and adjacent tracks and can cause accidents such as broken rails, so railroad maintenance for defects is necessary. Therefore, various researches on defect detection and inspection using image processing or machine learning on railway surface images have been conducted to automate railroad inspection and to reduce railroad maintenance costs. In general, the performance of the image processing analysis method and machine learning technology is affected by the quantity and quality of data. For this reason, some researches require specific devices or vehicles to acquire images of the track surface at regular intervals to obtain a database of various railway surface images. On the contrary, in this study, in order to reduce and improve the operating cost of image acquisition, we constructed the 'Defective Railroad Surface Regeneration Model' by applying the methods presented in the related studies of the Generative Adversarial Network (GAN). Thus, we aimed to detect defects on railroad surface even without a dedicated database. This constructed model is designed to learn to generate the railroad surface combining the different railroad surface textures and the original surface, considering the ground truth of the railroad defects. The generated images of the railroad surface were used as training data in defect detection network, which is based on Fully Convolutional Network (FCN). To validate its performance, we clustered and divided the railroad data into three subsets, one subset as original railroad texture images and the remaining two subsets as another railroad surface texture images. In the first experiment, we used only original texture images for training sets in the defect detection model. And in the second experiment, we trained the generated images that were generated by combining the original images with a few railroad textures of the other images. Each defect detection model was evaluated in terms of 'intersection of union(IoU)' and F1-score measures with ground truths. As a result, the scores increased by about 10~15% when the generated images were used, compared to the case that only the original images were used. This proves that it is possible to detect defects by using the existing data and a few different texture images, even for the railroad surface images in which dedicated training database is not constructed.

Because bolts with anti-loosening coatings are used mainly for joining safety-related components in automobiles, accurate automatic screening of these coatings is essential to detect defects efficiently. The performance of the convolutional neural network (CNN) used in a previous study [Identification of bolt coating defects using CNN and Grad-CAM] increased with increasing number of data for the analysis of image patterns and characteristics. On the other hand, obtaining the necessary amount of data for coated bolts is difficult, making training time-consuming. In this paper, resorting to the same VGG16 model as in a previous study, transfer learning was applied to decrease the training time and achieve the same or better accuracy with fewer data. The classifier was trained, considering the number of training data for this study and its similarity with ImageNet data. In conjunction with the fully connected layer, the highest accuracy was achieved (95%). To enhance the performance further, the last convolution layer and the classifier were fine-tuned, which resulted in a 2% increase in accuracy (97%). This shows that the learning time can be reduced by transfer learning and fine-tuning while maintaining a high screening accuracy.
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is considered to be suitable for near real-time inundation monitoring. The distinctly different intensity between water and land makes it adequate for waterbody detection, but the intrinsic speckle noise and variable intensity of SAR images decrease the accuracy of waterbody detection. In this study, we suggest two modules, named 'morphology module' and 'edge-enhanced module', which are the combinations of pooling layers and convolutional layers, improving the accuracy of waterbody detection. The morphology module is composed of min-pooling layers and max-pooling layers, which shows the effect of morphological transformation. The edge-enhanced module is composed of convolution layers, which has the fixed weights of the traditional edge detection algorithm. After comparing the accuracy of various versions of each module for U-Net, we found that the optimal combination is the case that the morphology module of min-pooling and successive layers of min-pooling and max-pooling, and the edge-enhanced module of Scharr filter were the inputs of conv9. This morphologic and edge-enhanced U-Net improved the F1-score by 9.81% than the original U-Net. Qualitative inspection showed that our model has capability of detecting small-sized waterbody and detailed edge of water, which are the distinct advancement of the model presented in this research, compared to the original U-Net.
The variation of utterance lengths is a representative factor that can degrade the performance of speaker verification systems. To handle this issue, previous studies had attempted to extract speaker features from various branches or to use convolution layers with different receptive fields. Combining the advantages of the previous two approaches for variable-length input, this paper proposes integrated receptive field diversification that extracts speaker features through more diverse receptive field. The proposed method processes the input features by convolutional layers with different receptive fields at multiple time-axis branches, and extracts speaker embedding by dynamically aggregating the processed features according to the lengths of input utterances. The deep neural networks in this study were trained on the VoxCeleb2 dataset and tested on the VoxCeleb1 evaluation dataset that divided into 1 s, 2 s, 5 s, and full-length. Experimental results demonstrated that the proposed method reduces the equal error rate by 19.7 % compared to the baseline.
The presence of abnormalities in the subgrade of roads poses safety risks to users and results in significant maintenance costs. In this study, we aimed to experimentally evaluate the temperature distributions in abnormal areas of subgrade materials using infrared cameras and analyze the data with machine learning techniques. The experimental site was configured as a cubic shape measuring 50 cm in width, length, and depth, with abnormal areas designated for water and air. Concrete blocks covered the upper part of the site to simulate the pavement layer. Temperature distribution was monitored over 23 h, from 4 PM to 3 PM the following day, resulting in image data and numerical temperature values extracted from the middle of the abnormal area. The temperature difference between the maximum and minimum values measured 34.8℃ for water, 34.2℃ for air, and 28.6℃ for the original subgrade. To classify conditions in the measured images, we employed the image analysis method of a convolutional neural network (CNN), utilizing ResNet-101 and SqueezeNet networks. The classification accuracies of ResNet-101 for water, air, and the original subgrade were 70%, 50%, and 80%, respectively. SqueezeNet achieved classification accuracies of 60% for water, 30% for air, and 70% for the original subgrade. This study highlights the effectiveness of CNN algorithms in analyzing subgrade properties and predicting subsurface conditions.
