  • In this Paper we describe the design of synchronization algorithms for burst QPSK receiver, which are applicable to BWLL uplink. The demodulator consists of digital down converter, matched filter and synchronization circuits. For symbol timing recovery we ufo Gardner algorithm. And we use forth power method and decision directed method for carrier frequency recovery and phase recovery, respectively. For the sake of performance analysis, we compare simulation results with the board implemented by FPGA which is APEX20KE series chip for Alter. The performance results show it works quite well up to the condition that a frequency offset equal to 4.7% of symbol rate.

  • A design methodology for front ends of a Direct Broadcasting satellite (DBS) Receiver for X-band was reported by utilizing Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMIC) technology. The frequency converter including a three-stage low-noise amplifier, a image frequency rejection filter, and a mixer and buffer amplifier was designed by a Home-made CAD program. The results of computer simulation using the CAD program showed that overall gain was over 36.63dB, and noise figure below 2.55dB, respectively.

  • New circuit D-Q transformation concept is introduced to analyze AC converters such as inverters, rectifiers and cyclo-converters with ease. The equivalent linear time invariant circuit is obtained by substituting switches with equivalent turn-ratio variable transformers and changing balanced AC reactors into equivalent DC reactors combined by gyrators. This circuit enables us to utilize the powerful linear system analysis techniques such as Laplace transform otherwise which could not be applied to the time varying switching systems. Direct substitution of switches of DC converters with transformers is shown as a preliminary. Then the modeling procedure is shown for a controlled rectifier-inverter circuit. Finally an analysis example is proposed for a buck-boost inverter and the result is compared with the conventional approach. This approach is applicable to all AC converter families to determine the AC transfer functions and the DC operating points. It is identified that the switching systems are equivalent to the RLC filter circuits with transformers and gyrators.

  • The active filter system for harmonic current compensation is presented in this paper. The active filter compensates both the harmonic currents and the reactive power by injecting the PWM current to the ac line. This paper describes the principle of harmonic current compensation, the calculation circuits for the harmonic currents to be injected, also the experimental results are shown to verify the theory proposed in this paper.

  • This paper proposes a nonlinear impedance circuit composed by diodes and inductors or capacitors. This circuit needs no control circuits and switches, and the impedance value is changed by the polarity of current or voltage. This paper presents one of these applications to improve the input current of capacitor input diode rectifiers. The rectifier using the nonlinear impedance circuit id constructed with four diodes and four capacitors in addition to the conventional rectifiers, that is, it has eight diodes and five capacitors, including a DC link capacitor. It makes harmonic components of the input current reduce and the power factor improve. A circuit design method is shown by experimentation and confirmed simulation. It explained that compared conventional pulse-width modulated (PWM)inverter with half pulse-width modulated (HPWM) inverter proposed HPWM inverter eliminated dead-time by lowering switching loss and holding over-shooting.

  • This paper proposes a synchronous switching technique for a Vienna rectifier that uses carrier-based pulse width modulation (CB-PWM). A three-phase Vienna rectifier, similar to a three-level T-type converter with three back-to-back switches, is used as a PWM rectifier. Conventional CB-PWM requires six independent gate signals to operate back-to-back switches. When internal switches are operated synchronously, only three independent gate signals are required, which simplifies the construction of gate driver circuits. However, with this method, total harmonic distortion of the input current is higher than that with conventional CB-PWM switching. A reactive current injection technique is proposed to improve current distortion. The performance of the proposed synchronous switching method and the effectiveness of the reactive current injection technique are verified using simulations and experiments performed with a set of Vienna rectifiers rated at 5 kW.

  • In this paper, an embedded foot pressure measurement system is proposed to measure foot pressure based on the embedded Linux system. To measure foot pressure data and to evaluate foot pressure distribution for the different insoles, FSR sensor, A/D converter, iPAQ PDA, and a time division measurement method are employed in the system. Utilizing this system, the foot pressure analysis has been performed for the different four shoes. The number of foot pressure/voltage conversion circuits are drastically decreased by the proposed time division measurement method from 406 to 14. The experimental results for the sandal, slipper, oxford shoes and sneakers demonstrate that the proposed system successfully performs the foot pressure measurement.

  • A 300MHz PLL including FVC (frequency to voltage converter) is designed and fabricated in 0.8$\mu$m CMOS process. In this design, a FVC and a 2nd - order passive filter are added to the conventional charge-pump PLL to improve the acquisition time. The dual-rijng VCO(voltage controlled oscillator) realized in this paper has a frequency range form 208 to 320MHz. Integrated circuits have been fully tested and analyzed in detail and it is proved that pull-in speed is enhanced with the use fo FVC. In VCO range from 230MHz to 310MHz, experimental results show that realized PLL exhibits 4 times faster pull-in speed than that of conventional PLL.

  • In precision instrumentation system, an A/D conversion of signal conditioning has been always suffered from some problems ; offset and drift voltage with environmental situation. This paper suggests a method of reducing the offset voltage and the drift error from the A/D conversion hardware using analog signal switching technique with specific operational amplifier circuits. Also, we have designed a hardware active filter and a software digital filter with Auto Zero Tracking algorithm for better dignal process of the our proposed weighing system. Software technique was performed to obtain the stable data from A/D converter. As a result of our experimental works, the proposed system is expected to be used in the industrial field where a high precision measurement is required.
