Broadcasting and Communication Convergent Network Based on MPEG-21: Design and Implementation of Multimedia Service Framework

  • In this paper, we present a practical implementation of the MPEG-21 multimedia framework for broadcasting and communication convergent services. MPEG-21 standard technology was exploited to build a convergent service framework. Using this framework, a service model and several scenarios have been successfully designed and implemented. In addition, interoperability, which is the main objective of a multimedia framework, especially in a convergent environment consisting of heterogeneous networks and various types of devices, has been addressed in detail. The experimental results show that the implemented test bed provides a next-generation multimedia service; that is, universal multimedia access (UMA), meeting the requirements of a broadcasting and communication convergent environment.

A Study on Usefulness of Convergent Education Curriculum for Gifted Children in IT

  • In the present knowledge and information society, knowledge and use of information and communication technology(ICT) is very important for every citizen. Also, for national power of a nation, IT-related industries need to be supported since those industries can be reconstructed in a short period of time unlike other industries. In this sense, identification and education of gifted children in IT become a serious national issue. Since 2013, gifted education has been conducted as a form of convergent education by government policy. However, there have been controversies on convergent education for gifted education. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the usefulness of convergent curriculum for gifted education in IT. For this purpose, gifted children in IT in a gifted education center are analyzed. By comparing the entrance ranking and graduation ranking, it is concluded that the current convergent gifted curriculum may not be efficient.

선박의 밀폐된 선내에서 해상관제를 위한 스마트 위성·무선 복합통신시스템 구현 (Implementation of Smart Convergent Communication System of Satellite and Wireless for Monitoring in Closed Room of Vessel)

  • 기존 선박 통신시스템은 위성통신을 이용한 음성, FAX, ISDN 등이 대부분으로 선박 해상관제 업무에 집중되고 있지만, 최근의 레저선박 통신시스템의 경우는 더 높은 품질의 스마트 통신 서비스 및 통신환경을 요구하고 있다. 기존 통신시스템을 활용하여 통신 환경을 실험한 결과, 선상에서는 위성통신이 가능하나, 밀폐된 선내에서는 위성통신을 중계한 음성통신만 가능하고 스마트 앱이나 이메일 사용은 불가하였다. 본 논문에서는 선상뿐 만아니라 선내에서도 음성, 문자, 이메일, 대규모 파일 전송, 해상관제 앱 실행이 가능한 통신시스템 구현을 제안한다. 본 연구를 통해 위성통신단말기와 스마트폰이 결합한 듀얼 복합 통신단말기와 선내에서도 대용량 이메일 및 스마트 앱 사용이 가능한 시스템을 구현하였다. 실험 결과 선박 어느 위치에서나 다양한 통신이 가능하였다.

Design Learning Environment based on Affordance Concept for Convergent Design Education

  • I suggested the design learning environment based on affordance concept approach for supporting and improving learners' behavior and outcome for convergent design education in this study. The design learning space should be applied teaching and learning activity, especially learners' behavior, physical space condition to support the design thinking process. The design learning space needs openness, individuality and connectivity to support the learners' behavioral to immerse, participate, cooperate, understand, think and fulfill the design thinking process. The composition principles of the learning environment for convergent design education supports communication and collaboration among members for independence and interaction. The spaces for design research and teaching needs high privacy while facilitating visual communications through special materials and wall structure design. Also, for connectivity to improve the learners' physical and visual contact, the environment of the classrooms requires flexibility and mobility by providing an open space integrating unit cells for realizing learning purpose. These are provided by formed of an open structure for inducing visual communication and physical contact to involve the design activities and the mutual interchange.

  • 디지털 컨버전스의 기술 혁신은 언론 부문에서 핵심적인 노동이라고 할 수 있는 기자노동에도 막대한 영향을 주고 있다. 노동과정론에 따르면, 자본주의적 생산양식에서 기술혁신으로 인해 노동자들은 노동에 대한 통제력을 상실해가면서 탈숙련화의 과정을 겪어 왔고, 경영진들은 억압적인 노동조건을 은폐하고 노동자들을 더욱 효율적으로 통제하기 위해 이데올로기적, 정치적 장치들을 도입해 왔다. 이러한 문제의식 위에서 본 연구는 뉴스룸 통합의 기술혁신이 기자노동의 숙련도에 어떠한 영향을 주는지, 또 경영진들이 기자들을 통제하기 위해 사용하는 전략이 무엇인지를 CBS 통합뉴스룸의 사례를 통해 실증적으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 통합뉴스룸 도입으로 인해 기자들은 숙련노동에 대한 통제력을 상실해가면서 탈숙련화되고 있었다. 또한, 경영진들은 새로운 뉴스생산관행, 가족주의 노사문화에 대한 노동자들의 동의를 획득해 나갔으며, 내부노동시장 분절화를 통해 기업권력의 강화와 노동사회의 고립화 전략을 취하고 있었다.

  • Customary way of thinking may be the most major stumbling block to creative thinking in basic design education in the information and network era. The basic design education was used to be based on personal experience or subjective ideas, but these days, the role of divergent thinking and convergent thinking which provide the basis of creative techniques has been closely examined. Going beyond a divergent thinking and directly starting a convergent thinking means bypassing the design process of the existing basic design education. Though preceding studies considered various creative techniques apart from divergent thinking and convergent thinking, this study presumed that complementing the most typical methods of divergent thinking and convergent thinking may result in the same basic design education effect. So, what approach must be used to the design? The way of thinking needs to change. For that, we try to apply the mapping to basic design education. It must encompass interactive thinking which includes immaterial elements and communication. Divergent thinking can begin with the accurate understanding of current state, and the created current state resolves the design process that needs to be a certain thing. The purpose of this study was to present the method for applying the mapping techniques to basic design education based on divergent and convergent thinking which provides the basis of creative ideas.

  • This research points out the necessity of customized communication education for engineering students in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This paper also points out such problems of current communication education as presentation and discussion-focused 'Public Speech' exercises, absence of interests about social issues, and lack of interactive communication learning. In general, as the characteristics of their major education, engineering students are not aggressive in self-questioning and active communication rather than their sensitive reaction to the changes of the new era. Considering these characteristics of engineering students, this research emphasizes that future communication education should be deployed from the major-focused thinking to the development of convergent thinking, from the problem-solving to the problem-finding, and from the contentious thinking to the cooperative thinking. In addition, as a class design reflecting future trends, this research emphasizes, firstly the development of cooperative communication education model, secondly active utilization of SMART technology, and lastly the importance of customized-coaching for each student considering their own characteristics and requirements.

How Network Coding Benefits Converge-Cast in Wireless Sensor Networks

  • Network coding is one of the most promising techniques to increase the reliability and reduce the energy consumption for wireless sensor networks (WSNs). However, most of the previous works mainly focus on the network coding for multicast or unicast in WSNs, in spite of the fact that the converge-cast is the most common communication style in WSNs. In this paper, we investigate, for the first time as far as we know, the feasibility of acquiring network coding benefits in converge-cast, and we present that with the ubiquitous convergent structures self-organized during converge-casting in the network, the reliability benefits can be obtained by applying linear network coding. We theoretically derive the network coding benefits obtained in a general convergent structure, and simulations are conducted to validate our theoretical analysis. The results reveal that the network coding can improve the network reliability considerably, and hence reduce number of retransmissions and improve energy-efficiency.

  • 자바는 다양한 플랫폼에서 실행 가능한 인터프리터 언어이며, 네트워크 사용에 유용한 기능들을 갖고 있다. 이러한 자바 언어의 특징으로 인해 자바는 다양한 분야에서 사용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 자바 가상머신의 보안 관리자를 위협하는 악성 코드가 어떠한 방법으로 가상머신의 취약점을 노리는지에 대해 언급한다. 그리고 이에 대응 방안으로 자바 콜 그래프와 자바 접근 권한 검사 트리를 이용한 자바 시스템 클래스의 취약점 분석 방법을 제안으로써 사전에 미리 보안 위협을 방지하기 위한 토대를 마련하고자 한다.

Windows API 후킹 기법을 통한 C&C Zeus에 감염된 시스템의 탐지 (Detection of systems infected with C&C Zeus through technique of Windows API hooking)

  • Zeus는 전 세계적으로 널리 퍼진 멀웨어 중 하나이다. 일반적으로 인터넷 상에서 특정 바이너리 파일을 다운 받아 실행함으로써 감염이 되며, 감염이 되면 현재 실행 중인 프로세스들의 특정 Windows API에 후킹을 시도하여, 해당 프로세스가 API를 실행하면 Zeus의 특정 코드를 실행하도록 변조가 되어 개인 정보들이 유출되도록 구성되어 있다. 본 논문에서는 Zeus의 기초 버전인 C&C(Command and Control)방식을 중심으로 Zeus가 어떤 방식으로 Windows API를 후킹하는지, 그리고 어떤 방법으로 후킹이 되었는지 탐지할 수 있는지 제시하여 현대의 P2P Zeus 탐지에 도움이 되고자 한다.
