  • The present study investigated whether convergence training in which has an effect on reducing visual discomfort in viewing 3D TV. The stereoscopic depth of 3D training stimulus was gradually increased while maintaining individual visual discomfort at a minimum value. Participants were randomly assigned into one of three groups: a control group and two training groups. For both training groups, all procedure and the disparity range of training stimuli were the same except the order of the disparities of training stimuli. One of the two different training procedure was provided: gradual change or random change of the disparities of training stimulus. Training itself was very effective so that convergence fusional range was improved after three sessions of training with intervals of two weeks. In order to evaluate the effect of convergence training on visual discomfort, the subjective visual discomfort in 3D TV viewing was measured before and after training sessions using questionnaire. The results showed that a significant reduction in visual discomfort was found after training only in the group of gradual change. These results demonstrated a repeated convergence training might be helpful in reducing the visual discomfort in 3D TV environment.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the enhancing creative competency and changes in academic challenge for the pre-service teachers. For this purpose, 94 pre-service teachers participated in project learning through the preparation of the convergence instruction and the class demonstration during one semester. The pre and post questionnaire survey was conducted the measurement of creative leader competence and K-NSSE for academic challenge. Analysis of data was performed using the IBM SPSS 18.0 program for the corresponding sample t test. The creative competency included 'higher mental thinking', 'problem solving', 'curiosity', 'sensitivity' 'task commitment', 'the pursuit of social value', and 'co-operations and considerations'. This results was significant(p< .05). Academic challenge, high-order learning domain and learning strategies domain were significant(p< .05). Based on this, in order to generalize the convergence education and convergence lesson, it is necessary to design various convergence lessons and practice study to make a plan and practice it. In addition, the implications for the necessity of correcting and supplementing the effects after repeated convergence lessons were discussed.

  • Many scholars have addressed the technological convergence of small-medium sized firms in Korea and their impact on the economic growth of nation. Nevertheless, most studies have been investigated the relationship between entrepreneurship and venture creation, and a few studies have analyzed the innovation and technological convergence of SMEs. The purpose of this research is to gain industrial insight into the technological convergence and to suggest a dynamic growth policy for entrepreneurs of SMEs to improve their convergence performance based on IT and BT. Therefore, we intend to propose solutions to these key questions in convergence such as; what are the key patterns in the process of technological convergence of SMEs on IT and BT, and what kinds of strategy do their need? In order to answer these research questions, we adopt network analysis using patent citation information. Results of network analysis revealed that building ecosystem based on government and universities is one of the most important factors for the future growth of SMEs in Korea. Also, the fit between technological convergence direction of SMEs and division of convergence structure of government and universities will be positively associated with dynamic growth of SMEs in Korea. In conclusion, this research extends the current studies on important aspects of SMEs in the technological convergence process by proposing their growth in convergence process to a newly converging context, IT and BT, and shed light on the integrative perspectives of crucial roles of SMEs on innovation performance in the IT and BT technological convergence.

  • A previously proposed finite element formulation method is refined and modified to generate a new type of elements. The method is based on selecting a set of general solution modes for element formulation. The constant strain modes and higher order modes are selected and the formulation method is designed to ensure that the element will pass the basic single element test, which in turn ensures the passage of the basic patch test. If the element is to pass the higher order patch test also, the element stiffness matrix is in general asymmetric. The element stiffness matrix depends only on a nodal displacement matrix and a nodal force matrix. A symmetric stiffness matrix can be obtained by either modifying the nodal displacement matrix or the nodal force matrix. It is shown that both modifications lead to the same new element, which is demonstrated through numerical examples to be more robust than an assumed stress hybrid element in plane stress application. The method of formulation can also be used to arrive at the conforming displacement and hybrid stress formulations. The convergence of the latter two is explained from the point of view of the proposed method.

  • A higher order iterative method to compute the Moore-Penrose inverses of arbitrary matrices using only the Penrose equation (ii) is developed by extending the iterative method described in [1]. Convergence properties as well as the error estimates of the method are studied. The efficacy of the method is demonstrated by working out four numerical examples, two involving a full rank matrix and an ill-conditioned Hilbert matrix, whereas, the other two involving randomly generated full rank and rank deficient matrices. The performance measures are the number of iterations and CPU time in seconds used by the method. It is observed that the number of iterations always decreases as expected and the CPU time first decreases gradually and then increases with the increase of the order of the method for all examples considered.

  • Four turbulent $k-{\varepsilon}$ models (i.e., standard model, modified models with streamline curvature modification and/or preferential dissipation modification) are applied in order to analyze the turbulent flow of wall-attaching offset jet. For numerical convergence, this paper develops a method of slowly increasing the convective effect induced by skew-velocity in skew-upwind scheme (hereafter called Partial Skewupwind Scheme). Even though the method was simple, it was efficient in view of convergent speed, computer memory storage, programming, etc. The numerical results of all models show good prediction in first order calculations (i.e., reattachment length, mean velocity, pressure), while they show some deviations in ·second order (i.e., kinetic energy and its dissipation rate). Like the previous results obtained by upwind scheme, the streamline curvature modification results in better prediction, while the preferential dissipation modification does not.

  • As the axis of the private security maintain social order in order to achieve the original purpose of all society must move in the direction of motion, and so in order to be a private security based philosophical values and ideological composition should be based. In this process, to be followed by private security value or direction, philosophy private security is the norm. In this regard, this study pursued by the private security justification ever truly normative principles are intended to establish. The public nature of the ideology of private security, public, efficiency, legality, responsiveness and the like. Conflict occurs between the value of these ideals, although complementary are in harmony.

  • This paper presents the effects of the computational time-varying delay on the stability of the haptic system that includes a virtual wall and a first-order-hold method. The model of a haptic system includes a haptic device model with a mass and a damper, a virtual wall model, a first-order-hold model and a computational time-varying delay model. In this paper, the maximum of the computational time-varying delay is assumed to be as much as the sampling time. Using the simulation, it is analyzed how the sample-hold methods and the computational time-varying delay affect the maximum available stiffness. As the maximum of computational time-varying delay increases, the maximal available stiffness of a virtual wall model is reduced.

  • Necessary and sufficient conditions, under which there exists (at least) a sequence of vectors of real numbers for which the distribution function (d.f.) of any vector of extreme order statistics converges to a non-degenerate limit, are derived. The interesting thing is that these conditions solely depend on the univariate marginals. Moreover, the limit splits into the product of the limit univariate marginals if all the bivariate marginals of the trivariate d.f., from which the sample is drawn, is of negative quadrant dependent random variables (r.v.'s). Finally, all these results are stated for the multivariate extremes with arbitrary dimensions.

  • Digital communication channels are imparied by linear effects such as dispersion, ISI(intersymbol Interference), fading phenomenon etc. But, the practical channel equalization system is required to design for compensating the nonlinear distortion caused by harmonic distortion etc. This paper is a study on the performance of nonlinear channel equalization using RBF(Radial Basis Funclion) network, which has the equivalent structure to the optimal Basian filter. Expecially, the variance of RBF network is modifiedby nonlinear polynomial filters to compare the convergence characteristic of nonlinear channel equalization. Experimental results show that the modified RBF network achieves the faster convergence property than conventional RBF network. Moreover, the RBF network ofhigher order variance modified represents the better performance than that of lower order variance in the bandpass channels and second/third order polynomial channels.
