An Improvement on Target Costing Technique

  • The target costing technique, mathematically discussed by Sauers, only uses the $C_p index along with Taguchi loss function and $\bar{X}$-P control charts to setup goal control limits. The new specification limits derived from Taguchi loss function is linked through the $C_p value to $\bar{X}$-P control charts to obtain goal control limits. Studies have shown that the point estimator of the $C_p index, $C_p, could vary from time to time due to the sampling error. The suggested approach is to use confidence intervals, especially the lower confidence intervals, to replace the point estimator. Therefore, an improvement on target costing technique is presented by applying the lower confidence interval of the $C_p index and using both Taguchi and Spiring's loss functions together with $\bar{X}$-P charts to make this technique more robust in practice. An example is also provided to illustrate how the improved target costing technique works.

  • The control system design of 2-DOF for SISO process by root locus technique is not complicated and efficiently. It can design the control system to have the transient and steady state responses, and do not adjust the gain of process controller later. However, due to control system design for MIMO process, by root locus technique, there is not exact method. This paper is presents the control system design method for Quadruple-Tank Process, by using root locus technique for the structure of 2-DOF control system. The design procedures are first decentralized then using the relative gain array, and finally 2-DOF controller design is applied.

  • A robust control design scheme using well-developed SISO techniques is proposed for maglev vehicles that are inherently unstable MIMO systems. The proposed separate control method has basically two control loops: a stabilizing loop by a pole-placement technique, and a performance loop using a novel optimal LQ loop-shaping technique. This paper shows that the coupling terms involved in maglev vehicles with multimagnets should not be neglected but compensated for their stability and performance robustness. The robustness properties of the proposed control system are then evaluated under variations of vehicle masses and air gaps through a computer simulation. This paper also describes the reason why the proposed control technique can be suggested as a tool using only SISO techniques in controlling unstable MIMO systems such as maglev vehicles.

  • This paper poropsed an efficient optimization technuque to resolve redundancy and a trajectory planning for a high precision control using proposed optimization technique. The proposed techniqus is the joint disturbance torque optimizatioin considering redundancy in the joing servo control. Joint disturbance torque is not unknown it is described dynamic equation ignored friction and viscosity. The proposed technique is used the dynamic equatiion included the joint disturbance torque characteristics. Numerical example of 3 joint planar redundant robot manipulator is simulated. In the 2-norm minimization of joint disturbance torque we compared pseudoinverse local optimization with proposed technique, and the results showed better the proposed technique. So the proposed technique can be highly precision controlled redundant robot manipulators in the joint servo control.

  • In this study, a hybrid control method that adjusts for the existing force control technique has been presented for consideration. The proposed hybrid control technique does away with the chattering phenomenon occurring in existing force control technique and provides high shock absorption efficiency. In order to design the controller for the landing gear with MR damper, the equation of motion of the landing gear was derived. The hybrid controller was designed after constructing a simulation model using Recur-Dyne, multi-body dynamic analysis software. The hybrid controller can reduce the maximum strut force and displacement based on the skyhook controller, and is able to get the high efficiency by making it work for the additional force control technique. In addition, an effective switching control technique and input shaping technique was applied to prevent the chattering in the drop simulation. Finally, the performance of the landing characteristics was evaluated throughout the various drop simulations.

  • This paper presents an optimal Fuzzy Control Technique to control the load frequency control of multiarea power system with a given stepwise load disturbance. The related simulation results show that the optimized fuzzy control technique are more effective than the conventional control technique (TBC, Optimal Control and etc) for reduction of load frequency deviation in transient and stedy-state, and for minimization of settling time.

  • In this paper, a new active noise control technique which combines a hybrid active noise control technique and a subband active noise control technique is presented. To reduce the computational burden the active noise control system, a weighted hybrid control technique is applied. This algorithm shows higher stability and good noise attenuation property in either broad band or narrow band active noise control systems in HVAC ducts. Computer simulations were performed to show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

  • This paper proposed a optimal scale factors technique of a fuzzy-neural network for a load frequency control of two areas power system. The optimal scale factors control technique is optimize from an initial fuzzy logic control rule, and then is learned with an error back propagation learning algorithm of the fuzzy-neural network. In application two areas the load frequency control of the power system, it hopes to have response characteristic better than optimal control technique which is the conventional control technique and to show to minimize a frequency deviation and reaching and settling time of a tie line power flow deviation

  • It is very important that reduce the maintenance cost and extend life time of the urban transit EMU through effective maintenance method research. The maintenance cost of the urban transit EMU shares 60%~70% of it's life cycle cost. It means that the maintenance cost is bigger than the introduction cost of the urban transit EMU. In this study, I introduces a quality control technique to improve the urban transit vehicle reliability. I suggest the control chart using quality control technique. And the control charts apply to the Static Inverter of EMU.
