  • As the requirements of embedded systems increase, the design complexity of the system becomes higher. The formal design methodology is required which supports well-balanced specification for control and dataflow to design a complex system. In this paper, control modules and function modules are separately described with FSMs and dataflow graphs respectively, and integrated into a system specification via inter-model communications. In previous approaches, the system could not be verified until control modules and dataflow modules are combined at the final design stage. However our approach enables us to design each part as the proper model of computation at early stage, and to verify the compositions and to co-synthesize the system effectively in the same framework. Especially this paper focuses on the communication protocols between control and dataflow models. Preliminary experiments show practicality of the proposed technique.

  • In accordance with the trend of higher speed and automation, the Train Control System is building on the technology of control methods using radio in the technology of exchanging information by wire, toward a wireless communication method that will be applied using LTE-R radio communication technology with $4^{th}$ generation LTE mobile communication a $2^{nd}$ generation GSM-R. Therefore, a standard specification suitable for the Korea Radio based Train Control System-2(below KRTCS-2) for the 350km/h class using wireless communication is created; a prototype based on the standard specification is installed on a high-speed train and is installed on a test section(Ik san-Jeong eup) on the Honam high speed line to ensure the reliability and safety of the standard specifications, which are verified through various performance tests. In the future, the standard specification that has been established as a national railway standard, and the standard specifications will be commercialized by applying the train control system to conventional and High speed railway lines.

  • We introduce a high level synthesis methodlogoy for automatic synthesis of asynchronous circuits form a language based on CSP. The input language is a high level concurrent algorithmic specification that can model complex concurrent control flow, logical and arithmetic computation and communications between them. This specification is translated into petri net which has actions. These actions are refined to synthesize the controllers and to allocate the data resources. We use the automatic synthesis through signal transition graphs (STGs) that allows to take advantage of logic synthsis methods to optimize the circuit.

  • This paper contains the design specification and detail design for a seaborne towing winch system. We analyze operating condition of the system and decide the design specification for the towing winch system, and also perform a detail design for the subsystem such as hydraulic winch system, control equipment and power supplier at the full scale development. The performance of designed towing winch is established by load tests and sea trial tests.

  • This paper reviews various CAD(Computer-Aided design) or DA(Design Automation) procedures for specification, design and verification of VLSI chips. The growth and widening of engineering achievements and applicational varieties in this revisited field has been truly explosive for the last five years. Recent trends in VLSI/CAD area and their possible implications on the future evolution of DA society are briefly touched upon. The relative importance of chip specification and design capability within the whole Korean electronics infrastructure in the future is explained with several possible suggestions for coping with upcoming difficulties already being seen in this challenging yet promising area.

  • This paper presents optimal recursive digital filter design to meet simultaneous specifications of magnitude and linear phase characteristics. As is well known, the overshoot in the vicinity of discontinuity is hight. The technique using linear programming (the dual programming) is choosing more specification points in the vicinity of band limit frequency. The resulting filter can shown improved response and numerical accuracy with reduced nonuniform specification points in frequency domain.

Discharge Capacity of PBD and Deep Soft Soil Improvement (PBD의 배수특성과 대심도 지반개량)

  • Discharge capacity of PBD is the most important factor of specification items to control any product of PBD. There is no standard specification for the PBD. Because the degree of discharge capacity is related to well resistance, install depth, maximum strain etc in the field. Discharge capacity test of PBD, permeability test of filter are conducted using PBD materials used in Korea. This paper proposes the critical discharge capacity for deep PBD under condition of non well resistance based upon their test and theoretical calculation. It was found that discharge capacity more than about 10 ㎤/sec is enough to undergo designing of deep PBD without well resistance.

  • Germline stem cells (GSCs) are the best understood adult stem cell types in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans, and have provided an important model system for studying stem cells and their cell fate in vivo, in mammals. In this review, we propose a mechanism that controls GSCs and their cell fate through selective activation, repression and mobilization of the specific mRNAs. This mechanism is acutely controlled by known signal transduction pathways (e.g., Notch signaling and Ras-ERK MAPK signaling pathways) and P granule (analogous to mammalian germ granule)-associated mRNA regulators (FBF-1, FBF-2, GLD-1, GLD-2, GLD-3, RNP-8 and IFE-1). Importantly, all regulators are highly conserved in many multi-cellular animals. Therefore, GSCs from a simple animal may provide broad insight into vertebrate stem cells (e.g., hematopoietic stem cells) and their cell fate specification.

  • In this paper, we derive the hazard which is a criterion of safety assurance by PHA for the ATP equipped in Korea Tilting Train. The ATP onboard equipment in Korea Tilting Train was introduced as ETCS Level l(which is ETCS specification). Also, the ATP trackside equipment was introduced as a ETCS SRS(System Requirement Specification) 2.2.2 and it has a target for commercial operation in 2009 late. In IEC 62278(EN50126), it recommend of PHA to derive a hazard of target system in concept establishment step and estimate if it can control as a tolerable level and then derive safety case to control the hazard by lifecycle. Therefore, we indicate the hazard using criterion of safety assurance by PHA using FRS (Functional Requirement Specification) 5.0. which is a upper criterion than SRS. The hazard of ATP onboard equipment derived in Korea Tilting Train will be able to use as ATP functional hazards of unified onboard equipment in G7 which is a multiple unit and preliminary hazards of ATP onboard equipment in NEL drived by Korail.
