A Cyber-Physical Information System for Smart Buildings with Collaborative Information Fusion

  • This article shows a set of physical information fusion IoT systems that we designed for smart buildings. Its essence is a computer system that combines physical quantities in buildings with quantitative analysis and control. In the part of the Internet of Things, its mechanism is controlled by a monitoring system based on sensor networks and computer-based algorithms. Based on the design idea of the agent, we have realized human-machine interaction (HMI) and machine-machine interaction (MMI). Among them, HMI is realized through human-machine interaction, while MMI is realized through embedded computing, sensors, controllers, and execution. Device and wireless communication network. This article mainly focuses on the function of wireless sensor networks and MMI in environmental monitoring. This function plays a fundamental role in building security, environmental control, HVAC, and other smart building control systems. The article not only discusses various network applications and their implementation based on agent design but also demonstrates our collaborative information fusion strategy. This strategy can provide a stable incentive method for the system through collaborative information fusion when the sensor system is unstable in the physical measurements, thereby preventing system jitter and unstable response caused by uncertain disturbances and environmental factors. This article also gives the results of the system test. The results show that through the CPS interaction of HMI and MMI, the intelligent building IoT system can achieve comprehensive monitoring, thereby providing support and expansion for advanced automation management.

  • 23 cap beams on the 1 Km length jetty bridge in Shin-da power plant (Taipower co., Taiwan) utilize far-end telecontrol cathodic protection technology which is the first case ever used in Taiwan. The system comprises cathodic protection system and te1econtrol monitoring system. The control and monitoring such as protection current adjustment, protection potential and depolarization measurement of the 23 cap beams can be adjusted through system telecontrol operations. Thereby allows monitoring and control of the 23 anode zones in a convenient and cost effective way. This system is at present still in its best running condition since Sept. 1997 when it was completed. All the 23 cap beams can achieve the 100 mV depolarization potential criteria of protection. It meet the specifications of reinforced concrete cathodic protection standard and proved to be very excellent.

  • This paper propose the new concept & design method and implementation of LonWorks network system for telemetry & remote monitoring and control in BAS. In order to apply this open system, the essential components of LonWorks is analyzed and a new concepts of its design method is proposed. In our experiment, LonWorks network system for telemetry & remote monitoring and control of lighting are designed and fabricated. As a result, it is verified that LonWorks is open, interoperable, reliable network system from the experimental results, especially, node development, network configuration & design, secure communication and MMI.

  • Digital Twin, one of the core technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, is attracting attention as a very suitable technology for disaster monitoring such as fires and earthquakes. In this paper, we implement a system equipped with UWB RTLS(Ultra-Wideband Real Time Location System), real-time remote control, and video streaming, which are element technologies for disaster monitoring digital twin. Since the proposed system structure is based on a cloud server, the actual location of the UWB indoor positioning-based client is transmitted to the user device in real time and stored on the cloud server for statistical and data analysis. In addition, we demonstrate through experiments that outliers occurs when the value of RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indicator) decreases due to communication collisions between UWB Tags, and propose an RSSI outlier correction algorithm to solve this problem.

  • In this paper, the web-based monitoring system is developed for the effective process monitoring of mold manufacturing using web. In developed system, the cutting force for monitoring the manufacturing condition is measured using hall-sensor that is low cost and useful to be installed in a machine tool indirectly. Specially, the current of main spindle in a machine tool is converted into cutting force by various experiments. For effective web-based monitoring, the program which runs in the local computer of client is made to exchange message between a server and a client by making of ActiveX control and the result of manufacturing is shown on web-browser by Ch language. The developed system in this study is the foundation of establishing E-manufacturing in mold factory.

  • This paper describes a newly designed multipoint process monitoring system based on a NIR acousto-optic tunable filter. The NIR multipoint process monitoring system consists of a NIR AOTF device for wavelength selection, an InGaAs array sensor, and a specially designed iin-line type of optical fiber probe. Unlike a FTS(Fourier Transform Spectrometry) or grating based monitoring system, an AOTF has no moving parts, and it can be rapidly tuned to any wavelength in its operating range within microseconds. Thus, the AOTF is advantageous in terms of faster spectral imaging capability and rigidity required for industrial monitoring environment.   • Embedded system area has brought an innovation and has been spread rapidly by the growth of the Internet, wireless telephony and multimedia recently. Many embedded systems are required to be real-time systems in that it needs multi-tasking and priority based scheduling. This paper introduces a real-time system that was developed with web server ability for control and monitoring system employing a real-time operating system. It discusses the design model, structure, and applications of web server system. We used SNDS100 board which has a 32-bit RISC microcontroller of ARM7TDMI core as a hardware platform. MicroC/OS kernel was used as Real-time operating system that supports a preemptive and multitasking functions. We developed a hierarhchical control and monitoring system that not only reduced system and management costs, but also enhanced reusability and portability.

  • Because the existing control system has been operating for about 20 years, it is necessary to upgrade the system for stable and efficient operation. But, there is a difficulty in maintenance by difference of manufacturer of each main control systems for boiler, turbine and generator. This developed IMCS(Integrated Monitoring and Control System) consists of more than 10,000 inputs and outputs for large scale thermal power plant. This paper consists of the development journey of IMCS MBC(mill and burner control) ; core binary protection & monitoring logic including prevention circuit of boiler explosion & implosion. In this project, the IMCS for boiler, turbine and generator was developed on basis of one communications platform. In this paper, the whole journey of development of IMCS MBC is dealt with designing software and hardware, coding application software, and validating software and hardware.

  • Recently, a growing demands on electricity require a high performance and reliable operation in the area of protection, control and monitoring of power plants and substations which may not provides with conventional systems. This paper describes a novel IDPACS (Integrated Digital Protection And Control System) in which we integrate all protection, control and monitoring function of the substations. The simulation results show that the proposed system provides fast response and reliable operation of power plant with superb performance on protection and control system.
