A New Field/Frame Mode Selection and Buffer Control Strategy for Interlaced Digtal HDTV Image Coding (비월 주사 방식의 디지탈 HDTV 영상 부호화를 위한 새로운 필드/프레임 모드 선택 및 버퍼 제어 기법)

  • We proposed new field/frame mode selection quantization and buffer control strategy for interlaced digital HDTV image coding system. The field/frame mode selection is performed based on the mean square error and number of generated bits for each superblock. The quantization factor for each superblock is determined by the characteristics of human visual system and buffer status. The statistical characteristics of the number of generated bits for basis block and the prediction of buffer status are used for buffer control. Simulation results show that the proposed field/frame mode selection and rate buffer control. Simulation results show that the proposed field/frame mode selection and rate buffer control strategy have good subjective image quality and have stable buffer status.

A Simple Continuous Conduction Mode PWM Controller for Boost Power Factor Correction Converter

  • This paper, a new simple controller operates in continuous conduction mode (CCM) for Boost power factor collection converter is introduced. The duty ratios are obtained by comparisons of a sensed signal from inductor current and a negative ramp carrier waveform in each switching period. By using the proposed controller, input voltage sensing, error amplifier in the current feedback loop, and analog multiplier/divider are not required, then, the control circuit implementation is very simple. To verify the proposed controller, the circuit simulation for Boost power factor correction converter was applied. For the results, the input current waveform was shaped to be closely sinusoidal, implying low THD.

Capacity Analysis on Cellular CDMA System with Adaptive Array Antenna in the Presence of Angle Estimation Error (각도추정 오차가 있는 경우 적응배열 안테나를 사용한 셀룰러 CDMA 시스템의 용량분석)

  • Adaptive array antennas are one of the most promising techniques for improving the capacity of CDMA mobile communication system. In this paper, the uplink and downlink capacity for asynchronous W-CDMA system with adaptive array antenna is analyzed when an angle estimation error is present. From the results, it is found that the capacities are decreased by the angle estimation error. Specifically, when 5 degrees of error is present at 9 element adaptive array, the capacities are found to decrease by 5.2% in the uplink and 11.6% in the downlink. Also, in this paper, an attempt for comparing the capacities on different channel environments has been made. However, it is found that the increase of the Rice factor hardly effects the capacity due to the power control.

  • SLA (Stereolithography Apparatus) it a process used to rapidly produce polymer components directly from a computer representation of the part. Though SLA is being recognized as an innovative technology, it still cannot be used to fully practical application since it lacks of dimensional accuracy compared to conventional process. If the shrinkage were perfectly uniform and no distortion took place, excellent part accuracy could still be achieved through and appropriate scaling factor when generating the build file. However, in certain geometries involving intersecting thick and thin sections, nonuniform retrain shrinkage becomes the engine of part distortion. In order to improve the part accuracy of SLA, this paper evaluates how largely each parameter of SLA contributes to the part accuracy and estimates the optimal set of parameter which minimizes the dimension error of the test part, "Slab (100mm$\times$100mm$\times$2mm)"and "scale bar"part. Three control parameters such as critical exposure, generation depth and fill cure depth are used.

  • Accurate alignment between high-performance payloads and attitude control sensors is essential factor to guarantee accurate attitude orientation and high pointing stability of the satellite. Space craft developers often use theodolite measurement system for satellite alignment during ground AIT(Assembly Integration and Test) phase. When measuring theodolite, errors may occur due to line of sight error, tilting axis error, vertical index error, and vertical axis error. In addition, errors that can occur during alignment measurements with multiple theodolites are analyzed through the alignment cube measurements test. Based on the alignment cube measurements test, a technical method that can improve the alignment measurement accuracy was suggested and it's measurements results satisfied the satellite design requirements.

Multi-channel ANC System Modeling for Reducing KTX Interior Noise (고속철도 실내소음 저감을 위한 다중채널 ANC 시스템 모델링)

  • We use largely two methods, how to control the noise of the KTX, they are the passive noise control method and the active noise control method. The passive noise control has been used in a variety of ways since the KTX opening day, but lately it has shown the technical limitations by being dropped sharply. So, it is getting important to conduct the research about ANC that is able to reduce the ambient noise when the environmental-factor changes and be installed easily. To reduce a three-dimensional closed-space sound field like a car of a high-speed rail is hard to do using single channel ANC control system. Therefore we have to model the paths of the noise exactly for reducing the noise. And the control speakers and the error mics should be designed for optimal position. In this paper, we designed the transfer functions for modeling the noise paths under the influence of the distance between control speakers & error mics and primary noise speaker in TEST-BED where there is modeled as actual interior of KTX. We have made the modeling and the simulations of interior environment of KTX car by using three frequency bands of 120Hz, 280Hz, 360Hz. After the modeling, we compared the performance of active noise control and also we analyzed what to affect with difference in distance. After comparing of the performance using Pure Tone 120Hz, 280Hz, 360Hz at each modeling and then we simulated ANC for KTX's interior noise which we measured really and analyzed.

Design and Making of PWM Control-based AC-DC Converter with Full-Bridge Rectifier (전파 정류기를 가지는 PWM 제어 기반의 AC-DC 컨버터 설계 및 제작)

  • Recently, miniaturization and low power consumption of electronic products and improved efficiency and power factor improvement have become a matter of great interest. In this paper, an AC-DC converter based on PWM control was designed and made. The AC-DC converter is designed with a structure in which one rectifier circuit and one output voltage control circuit are connected in series. The rectifier circuit is a diode-based single phase full-wave current circuit and the output voltage control circuit is a DC-DC conversion circuit based on PWM control. Arduino was used as the main control device for PWM control, and LCD was configured at the output stage so that the control result could be checked. The error between the output voltage displayed on the oscilloscope and LCD and the target output voltage was confirmed through repeated experiments with the test circuit, and the validity of the proposed design methodology was confirmed by showing an error rate of about 5% based on the oscilloscope measurement value.

  • There are many studies indicate that human is one of the major contributing factors to the aviation accident. To this end, the Human Factor of pilots and in flight operations has been a popular subject to be studied, however, not of the air traffic controllers. Recently, some States have started studying Human Errors in Air Traffic Control field, removal of the potential errors in advance and prevention of the similar errors. This study analyzed Human Errors in air traffic control in terms of LOSA of airlines, which has been actively studied. This study will contribute to safe Flight Operation and Air Traffic Control.

  • In this paper, an effective control scheme of a single phase UPS inverter is proposed to have no steady state error of the output voltage and the fast response for the load request. The cosine wave tranfer function is proposed to control the output voltage. This controller clearly removes errors of magnitude and phase both in the steady state. On the other hand, a current controller is proposed to reduce the transient time of the voltage control and to improve the bad distorted factor of the output voltage waveform by the load fluctuation and the presences of nonlinear parameters in the plant. The current controller is designed parallel to the voltage controller and performs separately from it.

  • We consider a robust configuration problem of inertial sensors for inertial navigation system(INS). Fault detection and isolation(FDI) is necessary to improve reliability of the system. For FDI, there used to be more than three mutually orthogonal sensors and thus we have to consider configuration methods of sensors. Various studies in this area have been done, but the former results did not consider effect of uncertainty(misalignment, scale factor error) to determine the configuration of the sensors.
