Effects of Freshwater Flooding on the Properties of the Accelerated Thermally Aged CSPE (가속열화 된 CSPE의 특성에 미치는 담수침지의 영향)

  • The accelerated thermal aging of a CSPE were carried out for 0, 80.82, 161.63 days at $100^{\circ}C$, which are equal to 0, 40 and 80 years, respectively. The volume electrical resistivities of the non-accelerated thermally aged CSPE and the accelerated thermally aged CSPE for 40y and 80y were $9.620{\times}10^{12}{\sim}1.246{\times}10^{13}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$, $5.066{\times}10^{12}{\sim}7.576{\times}10^{12}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ and $7.195{\times}10^{12}{\sim}9.208{\times}10^{12}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ at room temperature, respectively. The dielectric constant of the non-accelerated thermally aged CSPE and the accelerated thermally aged CSPE for 40y and 80y were 3.355~4.030, 2.996~3.963 and 3.020~4.776 at room temperature, respectively. After seawater and freshwater flooding, the volume electrical resistivity of the CSPE trend slightly upward according to drying day at room temperature. After seawater flooding, the dielectric constant of the accelerated thermally aged CSPE were not measured. After seawater flooding, bright open pores of the accelerated thermally aged CSPE were partly transferred to dark close pores due to salinity. After freshwater flooding, dark close pores of the accelerated thermally aged CSPE were partly transferred to bright open pores because salinity of them is decreased. An insulation property of a cable in NPPs was decreased because of the seawater flooding, and an insulation property of them was recovered through the freshwater flooding. As a result, it is considered that an insulation property of a contaminated cable through Tsunami can be recovered if it is cleaned quickly.

  • Among the various sensors for measuring traffic, PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) piezoelectric sensors are used to classify vehicles because they can detect the axle of the vehicle. Piezoelectric sensors are embedded in road pavements and are always exposed to traffic loads and environmental loads. Therefore, the life expectancy is very short, less than 6 years. Traffic control is essential for reinstallation and data collection is interrupted during the failure period. The lifespan will increase if the sensor installation depth is increased. In this study, the sensor signal output was analyzed with a variable depth of sensor installation to verify the possibility of deeper installation. Furthermore, various parameters, such as the weight and speed, were analyzed. The wheel load is applied using APT. As a result, the MSI BL sensor output signal is higher than 100mV when installed at 3cm, which is reliable. If the location of the sensor is deeper in the pavement, the expected lifetime of the sensor is also increased. On the other hand, the MSI cable was found to be less than 100mV at the shallowest depth of 1cm, making it impossible for field applications.

  • In spite of its usefulness for health monitoring of structures on steady external load, the statistical pattern recognition technology (SPRT), based on Mahalanobis distance theory (MDT), is not good enough for the health monitoring of structures on large variability external load like earthquake. Damage is usually determined by the difference between the average measured value of undamaged structure and the measure value of damaged one. So when external variability gets larger, the difference gets bigger along, which is thus easily mistaken for a damage. This paper aims to overcome the problem and develop an improved Mahalanobis distance theory (IMDT), that is, a SPRT with revised MDT in order to decrease external variability so that we will be able to continue to monitor the structure on uncertain external variability. This method is experimentally tested to see if it precisely evaluates the health of a cable-stayed bridge on each general random load and earthquake load. As a result, the IMDT is found to be valid in locating structural damage made by damaged cables by means of data from undamaged cables. So it is proved to be effectively applicable to the health monitoring of bridges on external load of variability.

Implementation of 500BASE-T with 2 Pairs UTP (2조 UTP를 이용한 500BASE-T의 구현)

  • More than 100 Mbps rate is needed in the UBcN for a subscriber to receive broadband traffics with multi-channel like UDTV or 3DTV. Although the optical fiber is recently deployed for the FTTH, the UTP is the most widely used medium and will be used in UBcN age. Network providers may consider the 1000BASE-T or the vectorized VDSL if they adopts the UTP in the place where does not have optical fibers. But UTP should be expanded because 1000BASE-T and vectorized UTP needs 4 and 3 pairs cable, respectively while residential region has not exceeding 2 pair UTP cable. To solve the problem, we propose a 500BASE-T technology using 2 pairs UTP in this paper. The technology introduces a rate adaptation sublayer and a SERDES sublayer above and under the PCS, respectively. The rate adaptation sublayer is compatible for the GMII. Also, if we modify the SERDES sublayer, the technology can easily obtain 250BASE-T with 2 pairs UTP. We implement such functions with FPGA and analog board and verify the function of rate adaptation and symbol vector synchronization, and effective transmission rate by experiments. In particular, we show that link efficiency is increased by enable control in the rate adaptation sublayer.

  • Renewable energy from the environment in a variety of ways to obtain various forms of energy. Recent functional polymer composites (EAP) to take advantage of the pressure and vibration of physical energy into electrical energy storage, to take advantage of current collector technology is attracting attention. EAP, a type of IPMC (Ionic exchange Polymer Composite) got a hydrophilic properties, marine power plants is being studied as a source of energy. Studies using IPMC marine power plant because there is a constraint on the time, IPMC in real time, which can measure the power generated by the system is required, Due to the nature of the power plant to be floating in the sea through the power cable and data transmission measurement system is hard drive self-generation and wireless data transmission system is required. In this study, IPMC marine power plant is to develop a system of monitoring. IPMC for several power plants to build individual current-voltage measurement system, CAN communication with the main system to collect all the information and wireless data transmission to occur, and Generation of electricity using solar energy to building systems in real-time without an external power supply to drive the measuring system is to develop a monitoring system.

Quality Control of Observed Temperature Time Series from the Korea Ocean Research Stations: Preliminary Application of Ocean Observation Initiative's Approach and Its Limitation (해양과학기지 시계열 관측 자료 품질관리 시스템 구축: 국제 관측자료 품질관리 방안 수온 관측 자료 시범적용과 문제점)

  • The observed time series from the Korea Ocean Research Stations (KORS) in the Yellow and East China Seas (YECS) have various sources of noise, including bio-fouling on the underwater sensors, intermittent depletion of power, cable leakage, and interference between the sensors' signals. Besides these technical issues, intricate waves associated with background tidal currents tend to result in substantial oscillations in oceanic time series. Such technical and environmental issues require a regionally optimized automatic quality control (QC) procedure. Before the achievement of this ultimate goal, we examined the approach of the Ocean Observatories Initiative (OOI)'s standard QC to investigate whether this procedure is pertinent to the KORS. The OOI QC consists of three categorized tests of global/local range of data, temporal variation including spike and gradient, and sensor-related issues associated with its stuck and drift. These OOI QC algorithms have been applied to the water temperature time series from the Ieodo station, one of the KORS. Obvious outliers are flagged successfully by the global/local range checks and the spike check. Both stuck and drift checks barely detected sensor-related errors, owing to frequent sensor cleaning and maintenance. The gradient check, however, fails to flag the remained outliers that tend to stick together closely, as well as often tend to mark probably good data as wrong data, especially data characterized by considerable fluctuations near the thermocline. These results suggest that the gradient check might not be relevant to observations involving considerable natural fluctuations as well as technical issues. Our study highlights the necessity of a new algorithm such as a standard deviation-based outlier check using multiple moving windows to replace the gradient check and an additional algorithm of an inter-consistency check with a related variable to build a standard QC procedure for the KORS.

The H/W is composed able to remote control to circuit connector with the several slave processor and a processor for master, and this has taken possible through without any obstacle to communication circuits of a control signal by FSK system. The S/W make possible monitoring for communication condition of other circuits by means of a serial communication system by the multi-processing. This paper has been studied for connecting to a circuits wished to rapidly and precisely by the full application to a interrupt technique. A technique to control by remote to a number of transceiver is a way increasing to application for a frequency resource of the limited MF/SF, VHF and the existing radio communication technique.   • Most electric rooms are located in the underground spaces of buildings. When a fire occurs in electrical equipment, the fire expands to cable insulation material, resulting in toxic smoke and combustion products. If the smoke and combustion products quickly move vertically and horizontally, the evacuation of occupants and firefighting activities will be hindered. Therefore, it is necessary to design optimal equipment for smoke control in cases of fires in electric rooms. This study analyzes the characteristics of smoke and combustion products in fires in a cubicle-type switchboard in an electric room using PyroSim, which is based on the program Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS). The fire modeling consists of four scenarios according to the operation mode of the mechanical ventilation equipment, the amount of air supply and exhaust, and the location of the air supply slot. The analysis shows that the mechanical ventilation equipment improves the smoke density, visibility, carbon monoxide concentration, and temperature characteristics. The visibility and temperature characteristics were improved when the air flow rate and the location of the air supply slot from fire defense regulations were applied.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study for a failure examples producing in electronic control air conditioner in vehicle. The first example, it looked for the repetitive fuse cutting phenomenon that the diode using for a surge voltage prevention of inner A/C relay damaged because of no absorbing the surge voltage by short of diode when the A/C is off. The second example, it knew the icing phenomenon of evaporator that the A/C ECU didn't control the A/C because of inner cutting of fin thermo sensor. The third example, it verified the operation trouble phenomenon because of the A/C switch and for sensor burned in flames by short phenom enon when the sheath of the cable has peeled off. Therefore, the driver have to manage the optimism system of a car by thoroughgoing inspection and improvement the failure phenomenon.

Analysis of Network Topology for Distributed Control System in Railroad Trains (철도차량용 분산형 제어시스템을 위한 네트워크 토폴로지 분석)

  • For higher reliability against component failures in railroad trains with many electronic sensors and actuators, a distributed control system with which all electronic components are connected via a network is being considered. This paper compares and analyzes various topologies of Ethernet network for a railroad train in the aspects of (1) failure recovery, (2) the number of ports per device, (3) the number of cable connections between vehicles, and (4) performance. Especially, the unique characteristic of a train system that the number of vehicles changes is considered through analysis. Various combinations of in- and inter-vehicle topologies are considered. In addition, we introduce a hybrid of star and daisy-chain topology for inter-vehicle connection when the maximum number of inter-vehicle connections is limited to reduce possible failures of inter-vehicle connections. Simulation results show performance comparison between different topology combinations; the hybrid topology is shown to enhance delay performance even with a highly limited number of inter-vehicle connections.
