The Causal Model of Mother's Parenting and Children's Locus of Control to Self-Control in Elementary School Children (학령기아동의 자기통제에 대한 내외통제소재와 어머니의 양육행동의 인과모형)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore a causal model of mother's parenting and children's locus of control to self-control in elementary school children. The subjects were 582 children of 4th, 5th and 6th grade. The instruments were Self-Control Rating Scale for Children, Locus of Control Scale for Children and Parenting Scale. The major findings of this study were as follows. 1) Children's locus of control, mother's warmth-acceptance and permissiveness-nonintervention , mother's education level and children's sex predicted children's self-control. 23% of the variance of children's self-control was explainer by these variables. 2) Mother's warmth-acceptance had a direct and an indirect positive effect through children's locus of control on children's self-control and was the first contribution factor. Children's locus of control had a first direct effect on children's self-control. 3) Mother's permissiveness-nonintervention had a direct and an indirect negative effect through children's locus of control on children's self-control. Mother's education level had a direct and an indirect effect through children's locus of control on children's self-control. Children's sex had a direct and an indirect effect through mother's rejection-restriction on children's self-control. Mother's rejection-restriction had an indirect effect through children's locus of control on children's self-control. Family income had an indirect effect through mother's parenting on children's self-control. Father's education level had an indirect effect through mother's permissiveness-nonintervention on children's self-control.

Engine torque and engine/automatic trandmission speed control systems using time delay control (시간지연 제어를 이용한 엔진 토크 및 엔진/자동변속기 속도 제어 시스템)

  • Time delay control(TDC) law has been recently suggested as an effective control technique for nonlinear time-varying systems with uncertain dynamics and/or unpredictable disturbances. This paper focuses on the applications of the TDC algorithm to torque control of an engine system and speed control of an engine/automatic transmission system. Through the stability analysis of the engien system based on TDC, determination of the appropriate time delay and control factor is investigated. It was revealed that the size of time delay of the TDC law should be greater than that of transport delay of the system for both stability and better control performance. Simulation and experimental results for the engine torque control and engine/automatic transmission speed control systems show both relatively good command following and disturbance rejection properties. However, TDC controller shows rather slow responses when applied to the system with large transport delay.

  • This paper is concerned with a control allocation strategy using the dynamic inversion and the pseudo inverse control which generates the nominal control input trajectories. In addition, an autopilot design method is proposed by using time-varying control technique which is time-varying version of the pole placement of linear time-invariant system for an agile missile with aerodynamic fin and thrust vectoring control. The control allocation proposed in this paper is capable of extracting the maximum performance by combining each control effector, aerodynamic fin and thrust vectoring control. The adopted time-varying control technique for the autopilot design enhances the robustness of the tracking performance for a reference command. The main results are validated through the nonlinear simulations with aerodynamic data.

  • This paper presents development of a vehicle lateral and longitudinal control for autonomous driving control and test results obtained using an electric vehicle. Sliding control theory has been used to develop a vehicle speed and distance control algorithm. The longitudinal control algorithm that maintains safety and comfort of the vehicle consists of a cruise and STOP&GO control depending on traffic conditions. Desired steering angle is determined through the lateral position error and the yaw angle error based on preview optimal control. Motor control inputs have been directly derived from the sliding control law. The performance of the autonomous driving control which is integrated with a lateral and longitudinal control is investigated by computer simulations and driving test using an electric vehicle.   • Five control methods (Speed Control, PID Gain Scheduling, Loop Time Control, Simple PID, Switching Control) have been applied to the control of an Inline Co-axial valve by the simulation of AMESim. The simulation results have shown that the speed control method is the most stable and the fastest way to reach to the set point in the simulation of the flow control. Moreover, It has been found that the five control methods have the almost same characteristics in the power consumption, the counter electromotive force, and the motor angular velocity. According to the analysis results, the fast and stable control characteristics of the speed control method is the most suitable for the flow control using a inline co-axial valve with a DC(BLCD) motor.

  • A state or the arts in Japanese chemical process control is reviewed based on experience in applying advanced process control schemes to several industrial chemical processes. The applications validate model predictive control (MPC), the most popular advanced control scheme in the process control community, as, indeed, a powerful and practical control algorithm. However, at the same time, it is elucidated that MPC can solve only the control algorithm part of the problem and one needs chemical and systems engineering aspects to solve the entire problem. By illustrating several industrial process control problems, the need for chemical engineering aspects as well as the future direction for process control are addressed, especially in light or current attitudes toward product quality.

Sliding Mode Control Using the Lower Bound of Control Gain (제어이득의 하한을 이용한 새로운 슬라이딩 모드제어)

  • A new sliding mode control method based on the lower bound of control gain is presented. Although the magnitube of the proposed control input is larger than that of the conventional control input using both lower and upper bounds, the positive-negative exchanging chattering is reduced and reaching mode is shorter. Because the proposed scheme needs only the lower bound of control gain, it is applicable to the system whose upper bound of control gain is doubtful to determine such as the control gain depends on the system states. It is proved that the proposed control method guarantees the sliding condition. The analysis of differences between the conventional method and the proposed method is given. The validity of the proposed control strategy is shown through a 2nd-order nonlinear system example.

Integrated Chassis Control with Electronic Stability Control and Active Front Steering under Saturation of Front Lateral Tire Forces (전륜 횡력의 포화를 고려한 ESC와 AFS의 통합 섀시 제어)

  • This article presents an integrated chassis control with electronic stability control (ESC) and active front steering (AFS) under saturation of front lateral tire force. Regardless of the use of AFS, the front lateral tire forces can be easily saturated. Under the saturated front lateral tire force, AFS cannot be effective to generate a control yaw moment needed for the integrated chassis control. In this paper, new integrated chassis control is proposed in order to limit the use of AFS in case the front lateral tire force is saturated. Weighed pseudo-inverse control allocation (WPCA) with variable weight is adopted to adaptively use the AFS. To check the effectiveness of the proposed scheme, simulation is performed on a vehicle simulation package, CarSim. From simulation, the proposed integrated chassis control is effective for vehicle stability control under saturated front lateral tire force.

  • This survey paper reviews robust control problems in both frequency domain and time domain. Robust control is focused on model uncertainties such as modeling error, system parameter variations, and disturbances. Robust control design problems are discussed according to parameter uncertainty, polytopic uncertainty, and norm-bounded uncertainty. Nowadays, robust control theory is combined with various control theory such as model predictive control, adaptive control, intelligent control, and time delay control.

Effect of Active Control Bearing on Unbalance Response of a Rotor-Bearing System (축-베어링 계의 불균형 응답에 대한 능동 제어 베어링의 효과)

  • The paper presents the unbalance response of a rotor-bearing system supported by an active control bearing. The proportional, derivative and integral controls are employed for the control algorithm of an active control bearing to suppress the unbalance response of a rotor-bearing system. Results of analytical investigations on the unbalance responses of a rotor supported by an active control bearing are presented for various control gains. It is found that the unbalance response of a rotor can be greatly suppressed by the proportional, derivative or integral control of the bearing. The proportional control is more effective than the derivative control at low rotational speed, and the derivative control is more effective than the proportional control at high rotational speed. In the case of the integral control of the bearing , the unbalance response of a rotor is increased as a general rule. However, the integral control of the bearing is extremely superior to proportional or derivative control at very low rotational speed.
