The design process must be planned carefully and executed systematically in order to support designers who are faced with many engineering design problems. In particular, conceptual design stage is very important than other stages such as detailed design or manufacturing stage on designing engineering systems. When designers are faced contradictory situation in task, conceptual design usually requires inventive thinking which depends on their creativity. And in order to develop good concepts, it is necessary to resolve contradictory situations during conceptual design. This paper presents a structure of systematic conceptual design process for designing engineering systems. And we developed the automatic feeding screw device using the proposed design process structure.

This study made an attempt to apply and meaningful research of the analysis of the scene with the actual creative work about the contradictory structure and the love of duality appeared in the Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet". The researcher set up the meaning of versus (對) between the contradictory structure and the duality of love. So I analyzed the duality of love appeared on the creative performance named "Romiet & Julio zwei Versus". With the Laban's behavior analysis, the analyzing instruments were separated into four parts as the body, the effort, the space and the shape. As a result of the analyzing, the duality of love in the original work was the expression of the artist's pluralistic vision, and dramatic structure of homogeneity rather than the paradoxical contrast. After analyzing a creative work, the duality of love has been proven as an important factor with ultimately a new dimension of absolute balance.

Different incident angles of ground motions have been considered to evaluate the relationship between floor rotation and torsional irregularity coefficient. The issues specifically addressed are (1) variability in torsional irregularity coefficient and floor rotations with varying incident angles of ground motion (2) contradictory relationship between floor rotation and torsional irregularity coefficient. To explore the stated issues, an evaluation based on relative variation in seismic response quantities of linear asymmetric structure under the influence of horizontal bi-directional excitation with varying seismic orientations has been carried out using response history analysis. Several typical earthquake records are applied to the structure to demonstrate the relative variations of floor rotation and torsional irregularity coefficient for different seismic orientations. It is demonstrated that (1) Torsional irregularity coefficient (TIC) increases as the story number decreases when the ground motion is considered along reference axes of the structure. For incident angles other than structure's reference axes, TIC either decreases as the story number decreases or there is no specific trend for TIC. Floor rotation increases in proportion to the story number when the ground motion is considered along reference axes of structure. For incident angles other than structure's reference axes, floor rotation either decreases as the story number increases or there is no specific trend for floor rotation and (2) TIC and floor rotation seems to be approximately inversely proportional to each other when the ground motion is considered along reference axes of the structure. For incident angles other than structure's reference axes, the relationship can even become directly proportional instead of inversely proportional.

The purpose of this thesis is to study on the philosophical analysis model and its methodological application of information systems research evaluation from critical realist perspective. Fist of all, I examine ontological epistemological methodological assertions of critical realism. Because the philosophy of critical realism is an opportunity for information systems study. I examine Dobson and Mutch's critical realist perspective on actors-structure model. I suggest a critical realist actors-praxis-structure model. This model provides the potential for a new approach to social investigations in its provision of an ontology for the analytical separation of structure and agency. Of most importance might be the incorporation of non-humans into the analysis of social interaction and of technology into the elaboration of structures. I also examine Tsoukas's critical realistic meta-theory of management. I suggest a critical realist IS management model. This model elucidate the nature of management and delineate the scope of applicability of various perspectives on management. The causal powers of management reside in the real domain and, taken together, their logics are contradictory, the effects of their contradictory composition are contingent upon prevailing contingencies. I analyze Carlsson's theory of design knowledge. His framework builds on that the aim of IS design science research is to develop practical knowledge for the design and realization of different classes of IS initiatives, where IS are viewed as socio-technical systems and not just IT artefacts. The framework proposes that the output of IS design science research is practical IS design knowledge in the form of field-tested and grounded technological rules. The IS design knowledge is developed through an IS design science research cycle. In conclusion, I think that IS actors-praxis-structure model, meta-theoretical IS management model, and IS design knowledge model according to critical realistic approach are very useful for IS research evaluation. Nevertheless, important problems are left not resolved.

Effects of viscoelastic foundation on vibration of curved-beam structure with clamped and simply-supported boundary conditions is investigated in this study. In doing so, a micro-scale laminate composite beam with two piezoelectric face layer with a carbon nanotube reinforces composite core is considered. The whole beam structure is laid on a viscoelastic substrate which normally occurred in actual conditions. Due to small scale of the structure non-classical elasticity theory provided more accurate results. Therefore, nonlocal strain gradient theory is employed here to capture both nano-scale effects on carbon nanotubes and microscale effects because of overall scale of the structure. Equivalent homogenous properties of the composite core is obtained using Halpin-Tsai equation. The equations of motion is derived considering energy terms of the beam and variational principle in minimizing total energy. The boundary condition is assumed to be clamped at one end and simply supported at the other end. Due to nonlinear terms in the equations of motion, semi-analytical method of general differential quadrature method is engaged to solve the equations. In addition, due to complexity in developing and solving equations of motion of arches, an artificial neural network is design and implemented to capture effects of different parameters on the inplane vibration of sandwich arches. At the end, effects of several parameters including nonlocal and gradient parameters, geometrical aspect ratios and substrate constants of the structure on the natural frequency and amplitude is derived. It is observed that increasing nonlocal and gradient parameters have contradictory effects of the amplitude and frequency of vibration of the laminate beam.

Dopamine beta-hydroxylase (DBH) is a neurotransmitter biosynthetic enzyme which catalyzes the conversion of dopamine to norepinephrine. Although structural studies of the mature form of this enzyme have been extensive, the culmination of these finding had been hightly controversial and contradictory. In this study, biochemical approaches were taken to characterize the structure of mature DBH. Soluble bovine DBH was purified from aderenal medulla. Three bands of 69 kDa, 72 kDa and 75 kDa which were physically separable and similar in structure were observed by SDS-PAGE. Furthermore, gas phase sequence analysis revealed that the 72 kDa band consists of two polypeptides which are present at equimolar concentrations and differed in that one had three extra amino acids at the N-terminus. Taken together, the soluble form of DBH exist in at least four forms, three identified by SDS-PAGE, one of which consists of two polypeptides as identified by N-terminal sequence analysis. The significance of these forms and their possible biosynthetic mechanisms are discussed.

Past research linking information technology and organizational structure has been inconclusive and contradictory. The purpose of this study is to resolve some of this confusion by taking into consideration one theoretical issue and three methodological problems. The one theoretical issue is an assessment of the importance of environment as a key external variable constraining both organizational structure and the use of information technology. To date, there has been no systematic, empirical research on the conceptual linkage among all three of these variables. The three methodological issues concern measurement problems associated with (1) controlling for different levels of analysis, (2) establishing a clear operationalization of information technology, and (3) differentiating institutional and questionnaire approaches to data collection. The research results in four conclusions. First, data confirm the environment as a key external variable in the linkage between information technology and organizational structure. Second, three central dimensions of information technology are identified: Growth of Capacity, extensiveness of information technology use, and information technology sophistication. Third, in order to maximize the explanatory power of information technology on other organizational constructs, it is necessary to differentiate between the actual use of information technology as opposed to the mere presence of information technology. Fourth, carefully designed questionnaire measures reveal no significant differences from institutional measures in the assessment of key organizational constructs.

This paper investigates the nature of the discourse domain involved with focus sentences. The major theories of focus including Roothian Alternative Semantics are critically reviewed: Alternative Semantics takes a contradictory attitude toward the truth conditional aspect of free focus. The truth conditional differences are treated as a pragmatic inference, while they are captured by the semantic mechanism, that is, the alternative sets generated by focus constructions. In addition, the alternative sets are ad hoc since they are generated only for focus constructions. This paper attempts to show that the alternative sets introduced by foci in the framework of Alternative Semantics are neither necessary nor sufficient for an analysis of focus. It is argued that the domain sets simply provided by the model itself suffices for a proper analysis of focus constructions.

Southeast Asians participate in elections eagerly, a fact indexed by the high electoral participation rates across a range of political conditions in the region. What gives elections in Southeast Asia such high legitimacy? Using data from Indonesia and the Philippines, this article emphasizes the need to understand peoples' rationalities, which are informed by meanings generated by prevailing cultural practices. From this perspective, electoralism can be understood as a cultural phenomenon that conforms to the structure of a ritual. Despite the democratic deficit in many electoral exercises, elections share the attractiveness and fun of traditional community festivities. Voters participate in elections as a testament to membership in a community. Although they do not always transform the existing social arrangements, elections embed contradictory impulses in the same way that cockfights do. A procedure of formal democracy authored elsewhere, electoralism has been localized in Southeast Asia and invested with indigenous significance.

This paper proposes the knowledge structure of an extended script for advertisement style game embodiment. This approach is able to allow for developing game and advertisement module. Research to reconsider contradictory awareness about existent game have been evolving from game education system, advertisement style game and simulation game for training and so on. In this paper, a situation hierarchy structure which allows the designer for simulating high-level specifications of game structure. And we describes with mathematical structure for proposed situation structure. Game unfolding utilizes with causality. Game reflects situation of a spatiotemporal real world. For this goal, we applied extended script to game world. Advertisement style module progresses by method to provide company's advertisement to user while game is gone. The advantage of proposed method are able to allows for novice to effectively insert banner image, video and so on into advertisement module. The proposed method was implemented in the "Shooting BaDuk" among games.
