Since Modern Movement flexibility has been one of the most attractive words in architecture. However, "overprovision first, division later" has been the most prevailing design method for spatial flexibility, and many of buildings designed for flexible use are practically quite inflexible due to insufficient building systems or/and irresponsible planning. There have been two dominant strategies to achieve architectural flexibility: multi-functionality and polyvalence. These two approaches, which point contradictory directions, actually reflect the difficulty in providing a proper form of architectural flexibility. Multi-functionality can afford changeable environments with satisfying spatial conditions; however it lacks tolerance to accommodate other uses but intended functions by architects. Meanwhile, flexibility by a polyvalent form relies on the vague anticipation of user's various interpretations. In this study by looking up these two different standpoints and historical precedents flexibility in architecture is carefully scrutinized focused on the contradiction, and as an alternative for architectural flexibility contextual relations is proposed. Unlike both multi-functionality and polyvalence, which produce flexibility by changing its own properties, manipulating contextual relations infuses flexibility into space by changing the properties of a building, not of its individual room. By using this contextual relations method, a community-centered school in Manhattan, NY, which was in danger of being closed because of its academic failure, is represented as a flexible space.

In pressure-retarded osmosis (PRO) and forward osmosis (FO) processes, solvent (permeate) flux depends on which surface the draw solution faces. There are two operation modes. PRO mode indicates that the active layer faces the draw solution, and FO mode means that the porous substrate fronts the draw stream. It is often observed that the PRO mode produces higher flux than that of FO under the same operating conditions. The current work uses the method of proof by contradiction, and mathematically proves the intrinsic flux inequality between the two modes.

The historicism and romanticism of John Galliano's designs are rivaled only by the spectacular and theatrical nature of his fashion shows; romantic silhouette, the complexity of the cut and, of course, the painstaking attention to historical detail. Galliano's approach is very much that of a British designer in that he absorbs wildly diverging historical and cultural elements to invent new hybridizations of the contemporary. Galliano started his career as part of the wildly uninhibited avant-garde London design scene. His designs were twisted and artfully torn, weired and also beautiful. The purpose of this study is to investigate the Comic Expression depicted on John Galliano's works by borrowing the Comic. The Comic or the Comedy is a kind of art form that signifies exciting effects, and so, is a means of raising a laugh. The similar concepts of the Comic already were depicted by means of transformation and distortion of form, satire, fantastic pastiche and reversion of substances on Cubism, Dada, Surrealism, Pop Art and Postmodernism. Therefore, John Galliano selected the quixotic expressional methods to seek for having playful fun. The aesthetics of the Comic is the beauty based on quantitative or qualitative contradiction between expectations and realizations. That is, the Comic is characterized by getting rid of stress through laugh with clarifying a subject of contradiction. This study found that John Galliano's designs are expressed the quixotic comic on Historical image, Exotic image and Primitive image to make a complaint against the social evils.

Greimas's Carre Semiotique, as Floch showed in his analysis of car, has much effectiveness not only in theoritical aspect but also in practical aspect. This paper used his theory to analysis the value system of MMORPG. Lineage, the game known as representative game of 'nogada', was the starting point. WOW is supposed to have opposition relation with lineage and Ragnarok contradiction relation, and Mabinogi non contradiction relation. As well as games, the concepts that match to 'nogada' of lineage are also supposed. The value system of games is expected to be useful in further systematic analysis of games and also in practical area of design and marketing.

The most famous thought of Dongjungseo's must be 'the Sky-Earth Response Theory.' The theory includes the Same 'Gi' Correspondence(the Same Category Homology) and explains the relationship between the nature and the men based on Yin-Yang. This theory, commonly studied by the scholars of the political science, however, has been constituting the foundation of the oriental medicine. Also, he insists many other theories related to Yin-Yang including the natural calamity, the treatise of human nature, the name and reality, and the national school of Confucianism, etc. This paper covers the Yin-Yang theory, particularly with regard to ethics. politics, human nature of Dongjungseo, and the comparison of his Yin-Yang and that of the Emperor Inner Cannon. Dongjungseo insists on the harmony of Yin-Yang just only in the area of health care, excluding other areas such as state and family governance. However, in contrast, he asserts the Yang central idea for what he defined as the order of a family, a society and a state. This presents his contradiction and logicality. In the last part of this paper, his logical flaws would be discussed and analysed. However, he is a lucky scholar, because his Yang central idea has been successfully governing peoples for a long time, despite such imperfection and contradiction in his studies.

Pin-hole model has been widely used as a robust tool for easily understanding how to obtain a stereo image and how to present the depth-cue to an observer in stereoscopy. However, most of the processes to analyze depth cue in stereoscopy are performed that a stereo image is taken by camera model practically but depth cue of the image is analyzed by pin-hole model. Therefore, the result of depth cues by the process to be uncorrected. The reason of the uncorrected depth cue is led to the image distances of camera model due to variable focused object distances, and it makes a depth distortion. In this paper, we tried to show the contradiction such as occurring depth distortion in the process which the pin-hole model is used to analyze depth cue despite practical camera model is used in stereoscopy, and we presents the method to overcome the contradiction.

The paint removal and recoating are the very important process in airplane maintenance. The traditional technology is to use the chemical way corroding the paint with paint remover. For changing the defects, corrosion & pollution & manual working, of the traditional technology, the physical process which removes the paint of airplane with 250MPa/250kW ultra-high pressure rotary water jetting though the surface cleaner installed on the six axes robot is studied. The paint layer of airplane is very thin and close. The contradiction of water jetting paint removal is to remove the paint layer wholly and not damage the surface of airplane. In order to solve the contradiction, the best working condition must be reached through tests. The paint removal efficiency with ultra-high pressure and move speed of not damaged to the surface. The move speed of this test is about 2m/min, and the paint removal efficiency is about $30{\sim}40m^2/h$, and the paint removal active area is 85-90%. No-repeat and no-omit are the base requests of the robot program. The physical paint removal technology will be applied in airplane maintenance, and will face the safety detection of application permission.

Various drones have extended application area very fast. In this paper, we define two contradictions in designing a portable-size drone by using TRIZ technique. The first is a physical contradiction between high rigidity and good portability, and the second is a technical contradiction between high stability and good portability. Through TRIZ technique, six design principles, which guide direction for optimal design, were driven. Consequently, an umbrella mechanism and design criteria were proposed for a portable-size drone. Detail design is verified through finite element method. Test results for the portable-size prototype drone show good performance, and prove its usefulness to be equivalent to a general full-size drone.

We present a method of thesaurus construction in order to produce semantic concept hierarchy of Korean nouns and implement a system for constructing the thesaurus in this paper. Multiple-step construction method is applied to this system which uses bottom-up and top-down method complementarily for solving the non-objectivity of word hierarchy, working speed, structural contradiction and incoherency of existing thesaurus. This system maintains objectivity using the meaning sentence of machine-readable dictionary and solves structural contradiction and incoherency with reference to existing thesaurus. We implement a developmental tool based on client/server system to construct thesaurus including massive entries as soon as possible and multiple client can work simultaneously.

Referred to "Jeungchijunseung(證治準繩" ), "Kyungakjunsu(景岳全書)", and "Uihakyipmoon(醫學入門)", We got the conclusion on the contradiction of KwanKyuk in "Naegyung(內經)" and "Nankyung(難經)" like below. First, It can be defined the fact as Naekwanoikyuk(內關外格) in "Nankyung(難經)" that in "Naegyung(內經)", the Cold from out is too strong that the Yanggi is isolated and vomitted and spread to Hacho(下焦). Because, it is the same phenomenon in "Nankyung(難經)", Yanggi is too strong that invade the stage of Eumgi, and in the flow, overturning situation appears and thru isolation. Same above, We can also understand the fact as Oikwannaekyuk(外關內格) in "Nankyung(難經)" that the Ileum(溢陰, same as Naekwan(內關) or Kwaneum(關陰) in "Naegyung(內經)" ), Heat from Mixed disease(雜病) is too strong that Eumgi is isolated and spreading to Sangcho(上焦). Because, it is the same phenomenon in "Nankyung(難經)" , Eumgi is too strong that invade the stage of Yanggi, and in the flow, overflowing situation appears and thru vomitting.
