  • This study describes a construction procedure of 3D virtual space using the NGIS data and its application to simulation. 3D space topography is modeled by using DEM consisted with triangular regular network. The elevations of nodal points of DEM are calculated through the interpolation with contour line and elevation points from the NGIS. Also, data for 2D roads and their environments, such as trees, lamps, and traffic signals, were extracted from the NGIS and projected on the DEM surfaces to get 3D virtual space. To give a reality to 3D virtual space and accelerate its graphic speed, data were converted into the directX format. It is believed that the virtual space constructed in this work can be applicable to the ubiqutous because DEM data can be converted to the AutoCAD format and ASCII code.

  • This paper deals with the practical application in the way how the automatic contouring can be done by DTM, the results of investigation confirm that the digital contouring is equivalent to results from direct photogrammetric contouring. The data acquisition is restericted in 841$(29{\times}29)$ regular grid points, the interpolation is done by concepts of finite elements. finally, the output map is relatively compare with A-10 contour maps.

  • The purpose of this study is to present a fundamental data for evaluating aircraft noise of building site development. By the field experiments and an predicted equal noise level contour using the INM program, actual condition in the building site development arranged district was investigated. In order to get the results, Analysis of factors effected on noise level, sound level on the rate of increase to aircraft demand and difference on the aircraft noise levels according to floor level in apartment house was carried out.

  • This study is about the experiments and analyses of Adaptive Grid Contouring Method that determines the number of contour points according to the change of curvature. As a result, it is presented that 10~20m grid spacings are suitable for contouring on map scales of 1 : 2, 500 and that the larger the mean slope, the smaller the suitable grid spacing for contouring.

  • c-Jun N-terminal kinase-3 (JNK-3) has been identified as a promising target for neuronal apoptosis and has the effective therapeutic for neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and other CNS disorders. Herein, we report the essential structural and chemical parameters for JNK-3 inhibitors utilizing comparative molecular field similarity indices analysis (CoMSIA) using the derivatives of 3,5-disubstituted quinolines. The best predictions were obtained CoMSIA model (q2=0.834, r2=0.987) and the statistical parameters from the generated 3D-QSAR models were indicated that the data are well fitted and have high predictive ability. The resulting contour map from 3D-QSAR models might be helpful to design novel and more potent JNK3 derivatives.

  • Emotional semantics are the highest level of semantics that can be extracted from an image. Constructing a system that can automatically recognize the emotional semantics from images will be significant for marketing, smart healthcare, and deep human-computer interaction. To understand the direction of image emotion recognition as well as the general research methods, we summarize the current development trends and shed light on potential future research. The primary contributions of this paper are as follows. We investigate the color, texture, shape and contour features used for emotional semantics extraction. We establish two models that map images into emotional space and introduce in detail the various processes in the image emotional semantic recognition framework. We also discuss important datasets and useful applications in the field such as garment image and image retrieval. We conclude with a brief discussion about future research trends.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze students' learning characteristics regarding spatial ability, orienteering ability and earth science content learning ability and their relationship through development and application of earth science activities using orienteering. The programme aims to improve students' spatial ability using orienteering activity which requires spatial ability. Topics in the programme included map, compass, contour, movement of celestial, and constellation application. Students were to orienteer in the field using the method they learned in class. This programme was applied to five 7th graders. The results are, first, students who have positive attitude toward science and do well at school tended to perceive their orienteering ability high. Second, all parts of spatial ability, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, spatial relation were used during orienteering, especially spatial visualization and spatial orientation. The relationship between spatial ability, orienteering ability, and earth science content learning abilities was not clear. However, orienteering ability and earth science content learning ability were in similar tendency.

  • When evaluating the feasibility of construction projects of large-scaled transportation facilities such as roads or railways based solely on the result of the economic analysis, less development indicators are politically reflected on the investment decision-making because regions whose socio-economic indicators are poor may be disadvantaged or underserved for the projects. Existing less development indicators, however, does not consider the transportation connectivity which indicates how effective the transportation networks are established for the transport of people and goods. In this study, travel time contour maps, travel distance and travel time between regions, and a route curvature were utilized to define new indices which reflect transportation connectivity on the less development indicators. When the new indices are applied, the existing rankings of under-developedness were changed, which means that transportation connectivity could effect on the political decision. In this study, we also suggested the necessity of considering the transportation connectivity when evaluating less development indicators, developed measures of inter-regional linkages, and performed the whole procedures of combining existing and new indices to evaluate the less development indicators.

  • A novel multi-snake is proposed for efficient extraction of multi-object contours from a natural scene. An NTGST(noise-tolerant generalized symmetry transform) is used as a context-free attention operator to detect and locate multiple objects from a complex background and then the snake points are automatically initialized nearby the contour of each detected object using symmetry map of the NTGST before multiple snakes are introduced. These procedures solve the knotty subjects of automatic snake initialization and simultaneous extraction of multi-object contours in conventional snake algorithms. Because the snake points are initialized nearby the actual contour of each object, as close as possible, contours with high convexity and/or concavity can be easily extracted. The experimental results show that the proposed method can efficiently extract multi-object contours from a noisy and complex background of natural scenes.
