  • In this study, an augmented reality-based make-up tool was built to analyze the user's face shape based on face-type reference model data and to provide virtual makeup by providing face-type makeup. To analyze the face shape, first recognize the face from the image captured by the camera, then extract the features of the face contour area and use them as analysis properties. Next, the feature points of the extracted face contour area are normalized to compare with the contour area characteristics of each face reference model data. Face shape is predicted and analyzed using the distance difference between the feature points of the normalized contour area and the feature points of the each face-type reference model data. In augmented reality-based virtual makeup, in the image input from the camera, the face is recognized in real time to extract the features of each area of the face. Through the face-type analysis process, you can check the results of virtual makeup by providing makeup that matches the analyzed face shape. Through the proposed system, We expect cosmetics consumers to check the makeup design that suits them and have a convenient and impact on their decision to purchase cosmetics. It will also help you create an attractive self-image by applying facial makeup to your virtual self.

  • Purpose: This study was performed to assess and describe the imaging features of 40 cases of Stafne bone defects (SBDs) on computed tomographic (CT) examinations. Materials and Methods: This study collected data, including age and sex, from 40 patients with SBDs who underwent CT exams. The imaging features of the SBDs were assessed in terms of their location, average size, the relationship of their contour with the cortical plate of the lingual mandible, bone margins, degree of internal density, shape, topographic relationship between the defect and the mandibular edge, the distance from the SBD to the base of the mandible, and the Ariji classification (type I, II, and III). Results: The average age was 57.3 years(range, 28-78 years), and the patients were predominantly male (70%). In all cases (100%), the posterior unilateral lingual SBD variant was observed. Within the Ariji classification, type I was the most common (60%). Among the most frequently observed radiographic characteristics were thick sclerotic bone margin across the entire defect contour, completely hypointense internal content, an oval shape, and continuity with the mandibular base with discontinuity of the mandibular edge. Conclusion: This study showed that posterior SBDs could present with an oval or rounded shape, complete hypodensity, and thick sclerotic margins. Likewise, SBDs could appear almost anywhere, with minor differences from the classic SBD appearance. It is fundamental for dental practitioners to know the imaging features of SBDs, since they are diagnosed primarily based on imaging.

  • Remote sensing image segmentation plays an important role in realizing intelligent city construction. The current mainstream segmentation networks effectively improve the segmentation effect of remote sensing images by deeply mining the rich texture and semantic features of images. But there are still some problems such as rough results of small target region segmentation and poor edge contour segmentation. To overcome these three challenges, we propose an improved semantic segmentation model, referred to as MRU-Net, which adopts the U-Net architecture as its backbone. Firstly, the convolutional layer is replaced by BasicBlock structure in U-Net network to extract features, then the activation function is replaced to reduce the computational load of model in the network. Secondly, a hybrid multi-scale recognition module is added in the encoder to improve the accuracy of image segmentation of small targets and edge parts. Finally, test on Massachusetts Buildings Dataset and WHU Dataset the experimental results show that compared with the original network the ACC, mIoU and F1 value are improved, and the imposed network shows good robustness and portability in different datasets.

  • In this paper, robust recognition system for tilted facial image was developed. At first, standard facial image and lilted facial image are captured by CCTV camera and then transformed into binary image. The binary image is processed in order to obtain contour image by Laplacian edge operator. We trace and delete outermost edge line and use inner contour lines. We label four inner contour lines in order among the inner lines, and then we extract left and right eye with known distance relationship and with two eyes coordinates, and calculate slope information. At last, we rotate the tilted image in accordance with slope information and then calculate the ten distance features between element and element. In order to make the system invariant to image scale, we normalize these features with distance between left and righ eye. Experimental results show 88% recognition rate for twenty five face images when tilted degree is considered and 60% recognition rate when tilted degree is not considered.

  • The dynamic change of background and moving objects is an important factor which causes the problem of occlusion in tracking moving objects. The tracking accuracy is also remarkably decreased in the presence of occlusion. We therefore propose an active fusion model which is robust against partial occlusions that are occurred by background and other objects. The active fusion model is consisted of contour-based md region-based snake. The former is a conventional snake model using contour features of a moving object and the latter is a regional snake model which considers region features inside its boundary. First, this model classifies total occlusion into contour and region occlusion. And then it adjusts the confidence of each model based on calculating the location and amount of occlusion, so it can overcome the problem of occlusion. Experimental results show that the proposed method can successfully track a moving object but the previous methods fail to track it under partial occlusion.

  • In this paper, we propose a Geometrical Centroid Contour Distance(GCCD) which is described by shape signature based on contour sequence. The proposed method uses geomertrical relation features instead of the absolute angle based features after it was normalized and aligned with dominant feature of the shape. Experimental result with MPEG-7 CE-Shape-1 Data Set reveals that our method has low time/spatial complexity and scale/rotation robustness than the other methods, showing that the precision of our method is more accurate than the conventional desctiptors. However, performance of the GCCD is limited with concave and complex shaped objects.

  • An algorithm for detecting dominant points on a digital contour is proposed. The algorithm detects the dominant points from the given contour with the given number of points as a constraint condition. on the basis of the principle of the top-down approach. The dominant points are detected by minimizing the object function that presents the similarity between the given contour and the approximated polygon drawn by connecting the dominant points of candicate. The penalty multiplier method is applied to minimize the augmented Lagrangean function which is made by adding the penalty of the constraint condition to the object function. On the minimization, a local searching method by the partial problem division is considered, and it is clarified that the reasonable solution is obtained by the method. The proposed algorithm has a merit that the dominant points can be detected exactly and stably even for the digital contour composed of multiple-scale features and the similar contours, because it detects them on considering the property of a whole figure of the given contour. It is confirmed that the proposed algorithm is more excellent than other previously proposed algorithms by the comparison and the evaluation through the experiment on suing typical digital curves.

  • In this paper, we propose a fast hand-gesture recognition algorithm for embedded system. Existing hand-gesture recognition algorithm has a difficulty to use in a low performance system such as embedded systems and mobile devices because of high computational complexity of contour tracing method that extracts all points of hand contour. Instead of using algorithms based on contour tracing, the proposed algorithm uses concentric-circle tracing method to estimate the abstracted contour of fingers, then classify hand-gestures by extracting features. The proposed algorithm has an average recognition rate of 95% and an average execution time of 1.29ms, which shows a maximum performance improvement of 44% compared with algorithm using the existing contour tracing method. It is confirmed that the algorithm can be used in a low performance system such as embedded systems and mobile devices.
