  • In this paper, we study the continuous wavelet transform on the Heisenberg group H$^n$, and describe the related continuous multiscale analysis. By using the wavelet packet transform we obtain a reconstruction formula on L$^2$(H$^n$).

스파이크 웨이블렛 변환을 이용한 기어 시스템의 건전성 감시 (Condition Monitoring in Gear System Using Spike Wavelet Transform)

  • 기어 시스템의 충격음과 충격 신호는 대개 기어의 결함과 관련이 있다. 그래서 이러한 충격음과 충격 신호는 기어 시스템의 건전성 감시의 주요 요소로 사용되어진다. 본 연구에서는 이런 충격음과 충격 신호를 효율적으로 추출해 내기 위해 스파이크 웨이블렛 변환을 이용하는 방법을 제안한다. 스파이크 웨이블렛 변환은 기존에 제안된 연속 웨이블렛 변환의 한계점인 임의의 영역에서의 시간-주파수 분해능의 스케일 변수에 대한 선형성을 보완하여 비 선형적으로 이것을 조절할 수 있게 하였다. 이로 인해서 스파이크 웨이블렛 변환은 관심 주파수를 기준으로 연속 웨이블렛 변환보다 고주파 영역에서는 시간 분해능이 향상되고 동시에 저주파 영역에서는 주파수 분해능이 향상되어 기어 결함에 대한 정보 손실 없이 기어의 결함 위치를 보다 명확히 판단할 수 있는 장점을 가진다. 또한 본 연구에서는 상단 절손의 결함을 갖는 기어에 대한 실험을 통해 본 연구에서 제안하는 스파이크 웨이블렛 변환의 유용성을 검증하였다.

Morlet웨이블렛을 이용한 연속보의 동적 파라메터 추정 (Determination of Dynamic Parameters of Continuous Beam Using Morlet Wavelet)

  • This paper presents the application of continuous wavelet transform for determination of dynamic parameters of continuous beam subjected to moving load. Morlet wavelet is used as mother wavelet in wavelet transform. Dynamic parameters are estimated from the magnitudes and arguments of the wavelet coefficients obtained by wavelet transforming the response time histories of joints on the beam. This study shows that the estimated parameters such as natural frequencies, dmping ratios and mode shapes are to be well-compared with those of the finite element analysis.

  • Although there have been many investigations employing the continuous wavelet transform for the analysis of dispersive waves, they seem to lack theoretical justifications for the effectiveness of the continuous wavelet transform over other time-frequency analysis tools such as the short-time Fourier transform. The goal of this paper is to answer this question by investigating theoretically the performance of the continuous wavelet transform and the short-time Fourier transform in tracing rapidly time-varying flexural waves. As a specific example, the performance of the two transforms is compared in a problem dealing with flexural waves generated by an impact in a solid circular cylinder.

  • This paper presents a signal processing procedure to detect damage locations of frame structures by using continuous wavelet transform. Morlet wavelet is used as a mother wavelet in wavelet transform. Wavelet transform has the characteristics that allows the use of long time intervals at more precise low-frequency information, and shorter regions at high-frequency information. By this wavelet transform characteristics, Morlet wavelet may be used to identify the locations of damages in the structures. The numerical case studies show that this method can be applied to detect the damage location under a controlled sweeping load.

  • This study was carried out fusion-welded butt joints in SWS 490A high strength steel subjected to tensile test that load-deflection curve. The windowed or short-time Fourier transform(WFT or STFT) makes possible for the analysis of non-stationary or transient signals into a joint time-frequency domain and the wavelet transform(WT) is used to decompose the acoustic emission(AE) signal into various discrete series of sequences over different frequency bands. In this paper, for acoustic emission signal analysis to use a continuous wavelet transform, in which the Gabor wavelet base on a Gaussian window function is applied to the time-frequency domain. A wavelet transform is demonstrated and the plots are very powerful in the recognition of the acoustic emission features. As a result, the technique of acoustic emission is ideally suited to study variables which control time and stress dependent fracture or damage process in metallic materials.

  • The objective of this paper is to show the effectiveness of the wavelet transform by means of its capability to estimate the Lipschitz exponent. In particular, we show that the magnitude of the Lipschitz exponent can be used as a useful tool estimating the damage extent. An effective method based on the Lipschitz exponent is proposed and we present the results investigated both numerically and experimentally. The continuous wavelet transform by a Mexican hat wavelet having two vanishing moments is utilized for the estimation of the Lipschitz exponent.

Dispersion-Based Continuous Wavelet Transform for the Analysis of Elastic Waves

  • The continuous wavelet transform (CWT) has a frequency-adaptive time-frequency tiling property, which makes it popular for the analysis of dispersive elastic wave signals. However, because the time-frequency tiling of CWT is not signal-dependent, it still has some limitations in the analysis of elastic waves with spectral components that are dispersed rapidly in time. The objective of this paper is to introduce an advanced time-frequency analysis method, called the dispersion-based continuous wavelet transform (D-CWT) whose time-frequency tiling is adaptively varied according to the dispersion relation of the waves to be analyzed. In the D-CWT method, time-frequency tiling can have frequency-adaptive characteristics like CWT and adaptively rotate in the time-frequency plane depending on the local wave dispersion. Therefore, D-CWT provides higher time-frequency localization than the conventional CWT. In this work, D-CWT method is applied to the analysis of dispersive elastic waves measured in waveguide experiments and an efficient procedure to extract information on the dispersion relation hidden in a wave signal is presented. In addition, the ridge property of the present transform is investigated theoretically to show its effectiveness in analyzing highly time-varying signals. Numerical simulations and experimental results are presented to show the effectiveness of the present method.

  • This study presents the results of decoupling of free decay roll test data by discrete wavelet transform. Free roll decay test was performed to decide the coefficients of damping terms in equation of motion. During the experiment, a slight yaw motion was found while the model was in the free roll decay motion. Discrete wavelet transform was applied to the signal to extract the pure roll motion. The results were compared to those of the Fourier transform. DWT was able to decouple the two signals efficiently while the Fourier transform was not.
