Characteristics of a Continuous Disk Winding for High Voltage HTS Transformer (고전압 초전도 변압기용 연속 디스크 권선의 특성 해석)

  • High temperature superconducting (HTS) windings for an HTS transformer which have been developed have two kinds of type, one is the layer winding and the other is disk winding. The layer winding has adopted for an HTS power transformer so far because of the small AC losses of the HTS windings. The disk windings have surface of the HTS wire. We propose a new winding method for a high voltage HTS transformer which has advantages of both type of HTS windings, and we call it continuous disk winding. This new HTS winding consists of pile of HTS disk windings. The continuous disk winding was fabricated with multi-stacked HTS wires for dover HTS transformer. We can check the potential possibility from the characteristic test of the fabricated winding. The new type HTS windings can be applied to HTS power transformers, especially to the high voltage ones.

  • High temperature superconducting(HTS) windings for an HTS transformer which have been developed have two kinds of type, one is the layer type and the other is disk type. The disk type windings have advantages over the layer type ones for a power transformer such as good insulation and limit of voltage stress. But this kind of HTS winding generates excessive AC losses caused by strong magnetic field component perpendicular to the surface of the HTS wire. Nevertheless, the layer type windings have adopted for an HTS power transformer so far because of the small AC losses of the HTS windings. We propose a new winding method for a high voltage HTS transformer which has advantages of both type of HTS windings, and we call it continuous disk type HTS winding. This new type of HTS winding consists of pile of lots of HTS disk windings which have no resistive joint between them. A prototype of an HTS winding was fabricated by the new winding method we proposed and characteristic test was carried out. The test result shows that the new type HTS windings can be applied to HTS power transformers, especially to the high voltage ones.

  • Filament Winding Process is a comparatively simple operation in which continuous reinforcements in the form of roving are wound over a rotating mandrel. And now well established as a versatile method for storage tanks and pipe for the chemical and other industries . In this study, tensile strength of a filament wound ring specimens were evaluated by split disk test fixture and dress disk test fixture , The results obtained from experiments were compared with the theoretical values obtained by the rule of mixtures. And the purpose of this paper is the suggestion of an appropriate test method for the evaluation of tensile properties of filament wound structures .The tensile strength of a ring specimen tested by the dress disk test showed better agreement with the theoretical values than of a ring specimen tested by the split disk test because the stress concentration in edges of a split disk test fixture is more severe than that of dress disk test fixture. The results showed that the tensile strength of a ring specimen was influenced by the geometry of test fixture, the continuity of fibers, fiber-tension, fiber-end and stress concentration in specimen.

  • In the response to the demand for electrical energy, much effort aimed to develop and commercialize high temperature superconducting (HTS) power equipments has been made around the world. In Korea, companies and universities are developing a power distribution and transmission class HTS transformer that is one of the 21st century superconducting frontier projects. The composite winding of transmission class HTS transformer is concentrically arranged H1-L-H2 from center. H1 is continuous disk type, L is layer type and H3 is continuous disk type. For the development of transmission HTS transformer with composite winding, the cryogenic insulation technology should be established. We have been analyzed insulation composition and investigated electrical characteristics such as breakdown of $LN_2$, barrier, kapton films, surface flashover on FRP in $LN_2$. We are going to compare with measured each value and apply the value to most suitable insulating design of the HTS transformer.

  • 본 논문에서는 디스크 권선과 레이어 권선의 장점을 가지는 연속디스크 권선의 변압기 적용가능성을 확인하기 위하여 전위된 병렬선재를 이용하여 연속 디스크 권선을 제작하였다. 제작된 연속 디스크 권선의 임계전류 및 교류손실 측정을 통하여 실제 변압기 권선방법으로의 적용 가능성을 확인 하였다. 또한 33 MVA 초전도 변압기의 고압측에 사용될 권선형태를 레이어 권선, 연속 디스크 권선을 적용하였을 경우 발생하는 손실을 계산하였다.
