  • Ubiquitous Healthcare (u-Healthcare) is the intelligent delivery of healthcare services to users anytime and anywhere. To provide robust healthcare services, recognition of patient daily life activities is required. Context information in combination with user real-time daily life activities can help in the provision of more personalized services, service suggestions, and changes in system behavior based on user profile for better healthcare services. In this paper, we focus on the intelligent manipulation of activities using the Context-aware Activity Manipulation Engine (CAME) core of the Human Activity Recognition Engine (HARE). The activities are recognized using video-based, wearable sensor-based, and location-based activity recognition engines. An ontology-based activity fusion with subject profile information for personalized system response is achieved. CAME receives real-time low level activities and infers higher level activities, situation analysis, personalized service suggestions, and makes appropriate decisions. A two-phase filtering technique is applied for intelligent processing of information (represented in ontology) and making appropriate decisions based on rules (incorporating expert knowledge). The experimental results for intelligent processing of activity information showed relatively better accuracy. Moreover, CAME is extended with activity filters and T-Box inference that resulted in better accuracy and response time in comparison to initial results of CAME.

  • Purpose - Along with the growing awareness of environmental sustainability, international green entrepreneurship is expected to realize international sustainable development (ISD) by introducing ecological innovation results, using fewer resources consumption, and reducing negative environmental impacts. Building upon contingency theory and social network theory, this paper attempts to explore the role of home country-based networks (technology ties and business ties) as contingent factors that might impact the effectiveness of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) in promoting ISD among green ventures. Design/methodology - Original data were collected from 127 green ventures in China based on the random sampling technique. These green ventures mainly focus on the lower use of energy or materials, lower CO2 emissions, and higher ecological benefits located in the Fujian province, which highlights green economic growth and economic cooperation with international markets. Moderated hierarchical linear regression analysis was conducted to test our hypotheses concerning the main relationship between EO (innovativeness, proactiveness, and risk-taking) and ISD as well as the moderating effects of home country-based networks (technology ties and business ties) on the main relationship. Findings - Empirical results indicate that: first, both innovativeness and proactiveness positively affect ISD; second, both technology ties and business ties at home might significantly strengthen the positive relationship between innovativeness (or proactiveness) and ISD. However, this study did not find significant moderating effects of technology ties or business ties at home on the relationship between risk-taking and ISD. Originality/value - Since previous literature often gives more focus on the host country context of social networks, this study shifts to a home country-based network context. Therefore, our research might enrich the international green entrepreneurship literature by empirically investigating the contingent value of home country-based networks in the relationship between EO and ISD in the context of an emerging economy such as China.

  • Multipath remains a dominant source of ranging errors in GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System). And it is generally considered undesirable in the context of GNSS, since the reception of multipath can make significant distortion to the shape of the correlation function. In this paper, therefore, the model of the distorted shape of the correlation function is formulated and a MBME (Model-Based Multipath Estimation) technique for GPS L1/L5 receivers is proposed in order to estimate the parameters of the indirect signal such as the amplitude and the delay. The MBME technique does not require the any hardware modifications and it can estimate the parameters for both the short and long-delay multipath. Especially, it would be the very effective technique for the short-delay multipath if the L5 signal is available. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed technique has been confirmed by simulation results.

  • Purpose: Dual-energy X-ray imaging is widely used today in various areas of medicine and in other applications. However, no similar technique exists for dental applications. In this study, we propose a dual-energy technique for dental diagnoses based on voltage-switching. Materials and Methods: The method presented in this study allowed different groups of materials to be classified based on atomic number, thereby enabling two-dimensional images to be colorized. Computer simulations showed the feasibility of this approach. Using a number of different samples with typical biologic and synthetic dental materials, the technique was applied to radiographs acquired with a commercially available dental X-ray unit. Results: This technique provided a novel visual representation of the intraoral environment in three colors, and is of diagnostic value when compared to state-of-the-art grayscale images, since the oral cavity often contains multiple permanent foreign materials. Conclusion: This work developed a technique for two-dimensional dual-energy imaging in the context of dental applications and showed its feasibility with a commercial dental X-ray unit in simulation and experimental studies.

  • As Ubiquitous systems are developed, the number of context data which are dealt with systems also grow rapidly. In these data, some are vary important in privacy view. As these data are given to users or services of systems, probability of excess exposing of data is exist. To solve this problem, many systems use access control method like RBAC. But even this method can avoid unauthenticated access, can not prevent excess exposing of authenticated access. To prevent this exposing of context data, this paper suggests context data access control framework which abstracts context data when system gives these data to users or services. Using negotiation protocol and context data abstraction technique using RDF, our framework prevents excess exposing important data. This happens protecting privacy and keeping service continuity.

  • Although construction site photos contain important as_built information, technique and knowledge, there has been lack of frameworks to store and manage construction site photos efficiently and effectively. The problems in site photo management are getting increasingly serious, as digital cameras are adapted as collection tools of site Photos. This research suggests an information framework(named CIIM: Construction Image Information Model) to manage and share construction information based on 5W1H in order to derive construction context, which includes technologies, lessons-teamed and knowledge, from construction site photos, and a site photo management system named CIMS II (Construction Image information Management system II was developed to verify the model. It is expected that the results of this research that are an information framework and an system could help more effective classification, management, search and derivation of context in a construction project.

  • In route guidance systems fastest-path routing has typically been adopted because of its simplicity. However, empirical studies on route choice behavior have shown that drivers use numerous criteria in choosing a route. The objective of this study is to develop computationally efficient algorithms for identifying a manageable subset of the nondominated (i.e. Pareto optimal) paths for real-time vehicle routing which reflect the drivers' preferences and route choice behaviors. We propose two pruning algorithms that reduce the search area based on a context-dependent linear utility function and thus reduce the computation time. The basic notion of the proposed approach is that ⅰ) enumerating all nondominated paths is computationally too expensive, ⅱ) obtaining a stable mathematical representation of the drivers' utility function is theoretically difficult and impractical, and ⅲ) obtaining optimal path given a nonlinear utility function is a NP-hard problem. Consequently, a heuristic two-stage strategy which identifies multiple routes and then select the near-optimal path may be effective and practical. As the first stage, we utilize the relaxation based pruning technique based on an entropy model to recognize and discard most of the nondominated paths that do not reflect the drivers' preference and/or the context-dependency of the preference. In addition, to make sure that paths identified are dissimilar in terms of links used, the number of shared links between routes is limited. We test the proposed algorithms in a large real-life traffic network and show that the algorithms reduce CPU time significantly compared with conventional multi-criteria shortest path algorithms while the attributes of the routes identified reflect drivers' preferences and generic route choice behaviors well.

  • Arabic skills are the tools by which children are prepared for the educational procedures on which their life depends. Deaf and hard of hearing students (DHH), must be able to grasp the same Arabic terms as hearing students and their different meanings in a context of different sentences less than what they are supposed to be due to their inability. However, problems arise in the same Arabic word and their different meanings in a context for (DHH) students since the way of comprehending such words does not meet the needs and circumstances of (DHH) students. Therefore, researchers introduce web-based method for Arabic words and their meanings in a context prototype that can overcome those problems. Methodology: The study sample consists of 30 (DHH) students at Al Amal City of Palestine, Gaza Region (GR). Those participants that agreed to take part in this study were recruited using a purposeful sampling method. Additionally, to examine the survey information descriptively, the Statistical Packages for social Sciences (SPSS) version 24.0 was used. A sign language teaching movie is utilized in the prototype to standardize the process and verify that Arabic vocabulary and their implications are comprehended. The Evolutionary Process Model of Prototype technique was utilized to create this system. Finding: The findings of this study show that the prototype built is workable and has the ability to help DHHS differentiate between phrases that have the same letters but distinct meanings. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to a better understanding and application of Development of Web-based Arabic Assessments for (DHH) Students in developing countries, which will help to increase the use of Development of Web-based Arabic for (HDD) students in those countries. The empirical models of Web-based Arabic for (DHH) students are established as a proof of concept for the proposed model. The results of this study are predicted to have a significant impact to the information system practitioners and to the body of knowledge.
