  • The main purpose of this study was to gauge the patient satisfaction index and subsequently discuss the Importance-Performance (IP) matrix analysis of the inpatient services in the context of the private hospital setting. The Malaysian Customer Satisfaction Index Model was employed as the theoretical framework for the above purposes. This study involving 242 patients in Malaysian's private healthcare sector used a Web-based survey as the main method of data collection. Partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was utilized for data analysis. Using Fornell et al. (1996)'s formula, the resulting patient satisfaction index was slightly lower than the "very satisfied" category, the target level required for positioning as one of the world's premier medical tourism players. The IP matrix showed that medical quality is the main competitive advantage of the private hospitals that can propel their growth in the global healthcare marketplace. The results also indicate that outcome quality, patient rights, and privacy, and service quality are the three quality domains that need to be prioritized for further improvement. On the other hand, the servicescape quality domain needs to be strategized as the unique selling proposition as the performance of the private hospitals in this regard is already extremely good.

  • Purpose: The purpose of the current study is to highlight the drivers of corporate environmentally and socially sustainable performance among different players including airlines, caterers, suppliers and logistics companies in the flight catering supply chain. Research design, data and methodology: Based on a qualitative research approach this study employed in-depth semi-structured interviews exploring the drivers of corporate sustainable performance with management from major in-flight catering stakeholders (n=23) from the perspective of constructivism. Using the snowball sampling approach, interviewees were carefully chosen to represent a diverse range of supply chain contexts (airlines, catering, non-food suppliers, and logistics companies). Results: By focusing on the complex context of multiple supply chain partners, the study identified a range of complex relationships between the drivers of sustainable performance in the supply chain: firm-led drivers, factors influencing firm-led drivers, partial influencers, and additional factor, cost. Conclusions: This study emphasizes that some drivers do not play an absolute role and has highlighted that there is a need for companies to change the attitude, that is to pay more than 'lip service' to improving sustainable performance. This study develops a theoretical framework of the drivers of corporate sustainable performance, along with its practical industry implications.

  • Purpose: This study explores the effect on supply chain agility and logistics performance of building mutual trust between manufacturing companies that have adopted supply chain management. Previous studies have categorized trust into affective and cognitive types, and speed, flexibility, and responsiveness are recognized as subfactors of supply chain agility. Methodology: A survey gathered responses from employees of domestic manufacturing firms with supply chain management implementations. 254 valid responses underwent statistical analysis using structural equation modeling (SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0). Results: Affective trust positively influences speed and responsiveness but not flexibility. Cognitive trust positively affects speed, flexibility, and responsiveness. Supply chain agility positively impacts logistics performance. However, neither affective nor cognitive trust significantly influences logistics performance. Conclusions: The study suggests that cognitive trust based on capabilities is more important than affective trust for flexibility in corporate relationships, a subfactor of supply chain agility. However, trust alone cannot enhance corporate performance. This research is significant as it examines the roles of trust and agility in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has exacerbated the manufacturing business environment.

  • Recognizing the critical importance of data and its vital role in advancing the tourism industry, the European Union has begun to invest significantly in the creation of a common European Tourism Data Space (ETDS), an infrastructure to facilitate the sharing of data among tourism stakeholder organizations. In order to inform the design and governance strategies of the ETDS, a series of binary logistic regression models are evaluated to understand the key factors that influence tourism stakeholders' decisions to share various categories of tourism ecosystem data (i.e., Human Capital, Natural Capital, Built Capital, Economic/Social Capital, Environmental Impact, Economic Impact, and Social Impact data) with third parties. Results based on online questionnaire data obtained from European tourism organizations (n=209) indicate that organizational resources, typology, motivations, and effort expectancy all play varying roles in tourism stakeholder data sharing practice. Importantly, this research provides preliminary empirical evidence to support the on-going development of the ETDS. Additionally, this investigation provides the opportunity to revisit the formative theories related to organizational data sharing and to re-evaluate them within the context of today's rapidly evolving tourism sector.

  • The services of the IoT environment should constantly collect situation information, and perform appropriate actions according to the situation. Therefore, there is a need for a method that can express collected situation information. In this paper, we propose a situation information model based on ontology for IoT environment. Since the proposed model is ontology based, it supports semantic interoperability. We also build an upper-level ontology to model common situation information of various IoT domains. It is easy to understand and use because it expresses situation information consistently by expressing person, environment, and thing constituting IoT environment as class and defining properties indicating the situation. In addition, since the situation information need to reflect dynamic situation, it has a feature to model the creation time and the life time of the situation information so as to judge the validity of the information. The proposed ontology model is described using OWL, and the service can be described based on the constructed ontology.

  • With the emergence of ubiquitous computing era, it has become increasingly important for a middleware which takes full advantage of HCI factors to support user-centric services. Many kinds of studies on HCI-friendly middleware for supporting user-centric services have been performed. However, previous studies have problems in supporting HCI factors, which are needed for user-centric services. In this paper, we present an agent-based intelligent middleware, which is called AIM, that provides user-centric services in ubiquitous HCI environments. We describe the middleware requirements for user-centric services by analyzing various HCI-friendly middleware and design AIM middleware which effectively supports various HCI factors such as context information management, pattern inference of user's behavior, and dynamic agent generation, etc. We introduce service scenarios based on the user's modalities in smart spaces. Finally, prototype implementation is illustrated as a manifestation of the benefits of the introduced infrastructure.

  • In this paper, we propose an intelligent vocabulary recommendation agent that automatically provides vocabulary corresponding to game-based learners' needs and requirements in the mobile education augmented reality game environment. The proposed agent reflects the characteristics of mobile technology and augmented reality technology as much as possible. In addition, this agent includes a vocabulary reasoning module, a single game vocabulary recommendation module, a battle game vocabulary recommendation module, a learning vocabulary list Module, and a thesaurus module. As a result, game-based learners' are generally satisfied. The precision of context vocabulary reasoning and thesaurus is 4.01 and 4.11, respectively, which shows that vocabulary related to situation of game-based learner is extracted. However, In the case of satisfaction, battle game vocabulary(3.86) is relatively low compared to single game vocabulary(3.94) because it recommends vocabulary that can be used jointly among recommendation vocabulary of individual learners.

  • Early morning delivery possesses distinct characteristics that differentiate it from standard delivery services. This service typically involves delivering products to customers during the early morning hours, primarily before 7 AM. While online early morning delivery offers various advantages from a customer perspective, it also presents challenges that sellers and online shopping companies need to overcome. The early morning delivery market is experiencing significant growth in the online food retail sector, incorporating both PC-based online shopping and mobile shopping. The objective of this research is to identify the factors influencing customer satisfaction and the intention to reuse in the context of early morning delivery for online shopping. To model the online shopping environment with early morning delivery, independent factors were categorized into three types: System Properties, Product Characteristics, and Delivery Characteristics. This study examined the relationships among these three independent factors, the mediating factor of customer satisfaction, and the dependent variable of the intention to reuse. To conduct this research, empirical validation of the research hypotheses was carried out using the final dataset for analysis. Within this study, the previously explored System Properties, Product Characteristics, and Delivery Characteristics were established. Summarizing the findings of the analysis, it was discovered that System Properties and Product Characteristics played a significant role in determining the quality of early morning delivery services for online shopping. While product diversity and convenience had a positive impact, it is noteworthy that Delivery Characteristics did not influence customer satisfaction. Consequently, it can be concluded that there is no effect on the intention to reuse.

  • Keeping in line with the recent changes in the information technology environment, the online learning environment that supports multiple users' participation such as MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) has become important. One of the largest professional associations in Information Technology, IEEE Computer Society, announced that "Supporting New Learning Styles" is a crucial trend in 2014. Popular MOOC services, CourseRa and edX, have continued to build active learning environment with a large number of lectures accessible anywhere using smart devices, and have been used by an increasing number of users. In addition, collaborative web services (e.g., blogs and Wikipedia) also support the creation of various user-uploaded learning materials, resulting in a vast amount of new lectures and learning materials being created every day in the online space. However, it is difficult for an online educational system to keep a learner' motivation as learning occurs remotely, with limited capability to share knowledge among the learners. Thus, it is essential to understand which materials are needed for each learner and how to motivate learners to actively participate in online learning system. To overcome these issues, leveraging the constructivism theory and collective intelligence, we have developed a social bookmarking system called WeStudy, which supports learning material sharing among the users and provides personalized learning material recommendations. Constructivism theory argues that knowledge is being constructed while learners interact with the world. Collective intelligence can be separated into two types: (1) collaborative collective intelligence, which can be built on the basis of direct collaboration among the participants (e.g., Wikipedia), and (2) integrative collective intelligence, which produces new forms of knowledge by combining independent and distributed information through highly advanced technologies and algorithms (e.g., Google PageRank, Recommender systems). Recommender system, one of the examples of integrative collective intelligence, is to utilize online activities of the users and recommend what users may be interested in. Our system included both collaborative collective intelligence functions and integrative collective intelligence functions. We analyzed well-known Web services based on collective intelligence such as Wikipedia, Slideshare, and Videolectures to identify main design factors that support collective intelligence. Based on this analysis, in addition to sharing online resources through social bookmarking, we selected three essential functions for our system: 1) multimodal visualization of learning materials through two forms (e.g., list and graph), 2) personalized recommendation of learning materials, and 3) explicit designation of learners of their interest. After developing web-based WeStudy system, we conducted usability testing through the heuristic evaluation method that included seven heuristic indices: features and functionality, cognitive page, navigation, search and filtering, control and feedback, forms, context and text. We recruited 10 experts who majored in Human Computer Interaction and worked in the same field, and requested both quantitative and qualitative evaluation of the system. The evaluation results show that, relative to the other functions evaluated, the list/graph page produced higher scores on all indices except for contexts & text. In case of contexts & text, learning material page produced the best score, compared with the other functions. In general, the explicit designation of learners of their interests, one of the distinctive functions, received lower scores on all usability indices because of its unfamiliar functionality to the users. In summary, the evaluation results show that our system has achieved high usability with good performance with some minor issues, which need to be fully addressed before the public release of the system to large-scale users. The study findings provide practical guidelines for the design and development of various systems that utilize collective intelligence.
