상황인지 컴퓨팅 환경에서 복합서비스를 제공하는 서비스시스템의 성능분석 (Performance Analysis of a Composite Service Providing System in a Context-Aware Computing Environment)

  • There are a variety of users and devices in a context-aware computing environment. In this environment, the service provided to a user may be the composition of diverse services rather than one independent service. Before user's devices provide the composite service to the user, they should perceive user's needs by gathering related information segments from other surrounding devices and/or sensors. We consider a context-aware computing environment providing composite and adapted service to users and propose an information processing model that characterizes the device where the collected data should be processed through services and/or applications. Based on this model, we provide an analytical tool to obtain some performance measures of the context-aware computing environment.

  • 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경에서 상황 인식 기반의 서비스를 제공하기 위해선 동적인 상황 관리 기술과 상황 추론 기술, 그리고 상황 모델링 기술이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경에서 상황 변화에 대한 사용자의 요구사항을 능동적으로 반영하고, 동적인 응용 적응성을 지원하는 계층적 온톨로지 기반 상황 관리 모델을 제안하고 이를 기반으로 상황 인식 미들웨어를 설계한다. 또한, 상황 인식 서비스 구현을 위해 다양한 컨텍스트 발견, 획득, 해석, 추론을 효과적으로 지원하며 사용자의 서비스 실행 시 발생할 수 있는 상황 충돌을 해결하기 위한 방법을 제시한다. 이 논문에서 제시한 계층적 온톨로지 기반 상황 인식 미들웨어는 유비쿼터스 환경에서 요구되는 다양한 상황 인식 서비스의 개발 및 운용을 효과적으로 지원 할 수 있다.

상황 온톨로지를 활용한 QoS 제공 상황인식 프레임워크 (Context-Aware Framework Using Context Ontology for Supporting QoS-based Services)

  • In the future, the ubiquitous computing environment will provide users with context-aware services, intelligently interacting with omnipresent resources and surrounding environments at any location and time. Therefore, the ubiquitous computing environment requires context-aware applications in order to gather and analyze context information in various situations. However, existing context-aware applications have mainly focused on providing services and adapting themselves to users based on user related contexts. But this environment requires not only user related contexts but also Quality-of-Service (QoS) related contexts. In this paper we propose a frame-work for supporting user-oriented QoS in ubiquitous environments. The proposed approach adopts a semantic ontology and a neural network algorithm in order to reason about explicit and uncertain contexts. We also show the possibility of applying the framework to real environments such as collaborative engineering service, automobile maintenance service and ubiquitous home service.

  • 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경에서 현재의 상황 인식 어플리케이션은 다루고 있는 상황 정보가 정확하다고 가정하지만, 실제로 센서로 입력되고 해석된 상황 정보들은 종종 모호하거나 불확실하다. 본 논문에서는 상황 정보의 모호성을 해결하기 위하여 베이지안 네트워크를 사용하고 상황 정보를 표현하기 위해 온톨로지 기반 모델을 확장한 확률 모델을 제안한다. 이 논문에서 제시한 확률 확장 온톨로지 기반 상황 인식 미들웨어는 유비쿼터스 환경에서 요구되는 다양한 상황 인식 서비스의 개발 및 운용을 효과적으로 지원 할 수 있다.

  • Context aware systems are those systems that are aware about the environment and perform productive functions automatically by reducing human computer interactions(HCI). In this paper, we present common architecture principles of context-aware systems to explain the important aspects of context aware systems. Our study focuses on identifying common concepts in pervasive computing approaches, which allows us to devise common architecture principles that may be shared by many systems. The principles consists of context sensing, context modeling, context reasoning, context processing, communication modelling and resource discovery. Such an architecture style can support high degree of reusability among systems and allows for design flexibility, extensibility and adaptability among components that are independent of each other. We also propose a new architecture based on broker-centric middleware and using ontology reasoning mechanism together with an effective behavior based context agent that would be suitable for the design of context-aware architectures in future systems. We have evaluated the proposed architecture based on the design principles and have done an analyses on the different elements in context aware computing based on the presented system.

  • 최근 상황인식 기술은 유비쿼터스 환경에서 중요한 이슈로 떠 오르고 있으며, 연구자들에 의해 많은 연구가 이루어 지고 있다. 상황인식 기술은 상황정보를 획득/가공하여 사용자에게 필요한 서비스와 정보를 제공하는 컴퓨터 시스템이다. 상황인식 시스템은 각종 센서로부터 발생하는 낮은 수준의 상황정보를 높은 수준의 상황정보로 변환하여 사용자에게 원하는 서비스를 제공하는 환경을 만들어 준다. 본 논문에서는 물리적인 스마트 공간에 존재하는 각종 센서로부터 얻어진 하위단계(Low level)의 Event driven 센서정보를 온톨로지 기반 상황정보로 모델링 하여 상위단계(High level) 상황정보로 변환하는 상황인식 모델링과 시스템을 제안한다. 또한 변환된 High level 상황정보는 가상공간에서 ECA(Event Condition, Action) 룰에 따라 사용자에게 언제 어디선지 사용자가 필요로 하는 능동적이고 지능적인 서비스를 제공하고, 스마트 오피스 환경에서 발표 도우미 서비스를 구현하였다.

A Context-Aware Recommender System for Ubiquitous Computing Environment: CARS

  • Recommender systems have been widely advocated as a way of coping with the problem of information overload in e-business environment. Most of the existing recommender systems focused on what kind of items to recommend, although when to recommend to the target customer considering their context is an important issue. Even right item might be a spam advertisement or wrong recommendation for the customer if it can not be recommended at the right context. It is particularly important for recommendations where the user's context is changing rapidly, such as in both handheld and ubiquitous computing environment. Therefore, we propose CARS (Context-Aware Recommender System) based on CBR and context-awareness for ubiquitous computing environment. CBR is used to generate a target customer class and proper context. Context-awareness is used to gather suer context information from sensors, networks, device status, user profiles, and other sources. An illustrative case example is suggested to explain the procedure of CARS.

  • We address an integrated multimedia framework based on a software agent platform for context-aware multimedia computing. We adopt the FIPA (Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents) platform which provides agent communications and management mechanisms. In order to express context information, we use MPEG-21 metadata for describing user characteristics and usage environment. We encapsulate such context information as a FIPA message to be delivered between agents. Based on context information, appropriate multimedia content delivery becomes possible. We present our system implementation with a use case scenario and show that our proposed framework is effective for context-aware multimedia computing so that personalization of multimedia consumption can be possible.

  • Recent ubiquitous computing environments increasingly impact on our lives using the current technologies of sensor network and ubiquitous services. In this paper, we propose ubiquitous architectural framework for ubiquitous sleep aid service(UbiSAS) in the subset of ubiquitous computing for refreshing of human's sleep. And we examine technical feasibility. Human can recover his health through refreshing sleep from fatigue. Ubiquitous architectural framework for UbiSAS in digital home offers agreeable sleeping environment and improves recovery from fatigue. So we present new concept of ubiquitous architectural framework dissolving stress. Specially, we apply context to context-aware framework module. This context is transferred to context adaptive inference engine which has service invocation function in intelligent agent module. Ubiquitous architectural framework for UbiSAS using context adaptive rule inference engine without user intervention is technical issue. That is to say, we should take sleep comfortably during our sleeping. And sensed information during sleeping is changed to context-aware information. This presents significant information in context adaptive rule inference engine for UbiSAS. This information includes all sleeping state during sleeping in context-aware computing technique. So we propose more effective and most suitable ubiquitous architectural framework using context adaptive rule inference engine for refreshing sleep in this paper.

  • Predicting the preferences of users and providing the personalized services/products based on users' preferences is one of the important issues. However, the research considering users' preferences on context-aware computing is a relatively insufficient research field. Hence, this paper aims to propose a framework for providing the personalized services based on context history in context-aware computing. Based on this framework, we have implemented a prototype system to show the feasibility of the framework. Previous researches have reasoned the preferences of the user considering only the user's input, but this research provides the personalized services using the relationship between users' profile and services.
