  • Recently various handheld multimedia devices are spreading, and users want to share media contents across their own multiple devices. Conventional synchronization techniques for N-screen services can continuously play contents by switching from an initial device to a new device. In this case, even if a new device plays continuously contents, the initial device stops playing them. In this paper, we propose a synchronization technique in which multiple devices can share and continuously play same contents simultaneously by gathering and passing URI and current play-time of the contents. The proposed synchronization technique is built on UPnP and DLNA, and tested by implementing a wireless home media network system.

  • In this paper, we propose a frequency synchronization algorithm for S-DMT cable modem, which is practicable to the next-generation high capacity upstream physical layer in HFC networks. Analyzing several viable frequency synchronization algorithms of multicarrier systems, we proposed an algorithm using predetermined training sequence of repeated pattern in preamble field and residual frequency offset compensation with pilot signals. We verified that the simulation results of the proposed algorithm in AWGN showed good performance and suitability to the S-DMT upstream cable modem for fast frequency synchronization.

  • We study, in terms of VoIP user assessment of voice quality, the synchronization of measurement system is important. Commonly the synchronization system uses NTP(Network Time Protocol) or GPS(Global Positioning System), these synchronization method has time error of distance, system overhead of data processing, and system specialized clock error. we propose and implement the synchronization method to correct time error between two measurement system in the internet. So the time synchronization of systems can get time error, then user assessment of voice quality become reliable.

  • When implementing Enhanced TV services, the time synchronization between the video stream that forms the background and the data contents overlaid on audio/video is an important issue. Currently, however, the basic method of synchronizing the data in the MPEG-4 environment is based on absolute time values. For more efficient synchronization when developing Enhanced TV content, this paper proposes a content-based synchronization in which the data content varies depending on the video content. The proposed content-based synchronization method is implemented by defining BIFS nodes more widely, based on scene keywords, and then using the metadata of MPEG7.

  • We design a filtering management scheme with synchronization function under a realtime RFID middleware system for larger-scale data processing. The application interface(AI) is to support a various access protocol, HTTP, XML, JMS, and SOAP for the RFID applications. Generally, the synchronization problem is occurred in multiple accessing of clients for single filtering file. In this paper, we implement a filtering management scheme supporting the synchronization using the filter management process, and then demonstrate the RFID middleware filtering scheme.

  • This study deals with Timing Synchronization of motion picture and music in film music's physical point of view. Timing Synchronization appears by using Click Track, which calculates time of picture and location of bar. We also can find Hit, the emphasis point of music, by computation Frame Per Beat and estimate the location of note per time. Hit can be placed at upbeat, but, because of music's characteristic, it is more convenient to composer when it's placed at downbeat. Therefore, this study suggests three methods to sync the music and picture. First of all, sync through time conversion, second of all, sync through tempo conversion, and lastly, there is way to sync through offset. These each methods have their pros and cons, so choice should be made based on the music's natural flow.

  • This study is intended to suggest ways to improve the quality of the service of subtitles provided for the convenience of viewing for deaf people on e-sports broadcast content and game streamer content. Generally, subtitling files of broadcast content are manually written on air by stenographers, so a delay of 3 to 5 seconds is inevitable compared to the original content. Therefore, the present study proposed the formation of an automatic synchronization calibration system using speech recognition technology. In addition, a content application experiment using this system was conducted, and the final result confirmed that the time of synchronization error of subtitling data could be reduced to less than 1 second.

  • A new video watermarking scheme with robustness against collusion and synchronization attacks is presented. We propose to embed only a few copies of the watermark along the temporal axis into frames, which are located at the borders of each two different plotlines of the video. As a result, each change of the video plotline is transformed into pulse, which is used for watermark embedding and extraction. In addition, since we embed a watermark only into a small number of frames, the distortions of the video are reduced to minimum. Experimental results show the robustness of the proposed scheme.

  • Contents adaptation is a technology which converts one content to another content used in various devices. Specially, synchronization of inter-media which are included in a document is needed. There are various proposals and solutions for synchronization of inter-media. In the paper, I present "TATS : Temporal Aggregate Tree Strategy" model, which is used for specifying the temporal relationship among media in series of time. In the TATS model, aggregate tree, a sort of a binary tree, is generated from the execution time of those media. Using this aggregate tree, I implemented the inter-media synchronizations.

  • According to the progress of multimedia technology and growth of high speed network, plenty of multimedia contents are produced and in circulation. Because of these reasons, it is required that the method which can manage efficiently and make multimedia contents, for which are saved in Storage as different used, synchronize. In this paper, the metadata schema that can manage the method with being database using each Device metadata that are produced by extracting the needed information to multimedia contents is suggested. And the method that can make synchronized multimedia contents metadata on connecting between heterogeneous devices is proposed.
